Well I am seventy four and I have spent the last year getting my food storage increased to cover years. I have a couple of small freezers but most of my stored food is canned or dried. Overspent my income this year, but I have more confidence in food put by than money put by as I see extreme inflation in our immediate future. I figured out when Sam's club and Aldi put out their discounted meats and saved a lot in the cost of canning. Sam's has a twenty five percent discount and Aldi fifty percent. If you don't prepare you run the very real risk of terrible consequences, truly it would have been better to start long ago, but now is better than never. I starved as a child and never want to be there again.
@@chesterricherson3565 My brother and sister are not really preppers, they both have always made sure they stored plenty of food. The memories never leave you.
We always had plenty because my mother had a huge garden and we had chickens and hogs. But…we lived 22 miles from town and only went once a month to grocery shop. My mom always kept at least a months worth on hand and I’ve followed that. With the way things are now I’ve upped that a lot.

Went to Publix in Alabaster, Alabama just to get a couple of things that Aldi does not carry. I looked around while was there to check some prices. A whole frozen goose (7.1 lbs.) was $105.00. I've never eaten goose, but have seen it cooked on UA-cam. Then, a Butterball frozen bone-in turkey breast was $35.00 (oh, and that includes the gravy packet -- big deal). I bought a quart of full-fat buttermilk for $3.15. Last time I checked Walmart, they had no buttermilk at all. Aldi usually carries the low-fat buttermilk, but lately they have not had that either.

Well, I was just at the grocery store here in Houston, Tx and there is a ton of food in the store. I went just tonight and there was plenty. Also, fresh vegetable prices have dropped along with Watermelon and Cantaloupe.
What better way to draw people into their stores, than to advertise a great deal and not provide enough. Then people will buy something different at a higher cost because they are already there.
The northwrn states tend to see whats comming before the southern states do. This is because the southwrn states are closer to Central and South America. Lots of Comerce. Hello Margaret 😊 I cant stand Walmart or any big chain. I have accesibilty to special stores and dont encounter much robot checkout or angry ppl if you catch my drift ;) I have noticed a severe culture schock because A LOT of different ethnicities. It is twrrible. What you and I consider regular manners they may consider insult or engrandment. Cant tell. But often ppl have 2 jobs. My last neighbor came from New York To Texas and she didnt last no more than 4 months. Asked me how do ppl get by wthout "coupons". Never heard of that. Stated in New York she'd fill out 2 applications each worth $400. For her income. She worked and still works doing Uber Eats, shes a single mom with 3 kids. Shes gone Margaret. Before leaving she told me to run. Problem is, New York aint no better. Because during Covid and lockdown, they showed what they can become, complete lunacy. I got a sibling who spend her years out of here and she told me America sounded like it was going insane. Thw sibling is reconsidering leaving.
Did you wear that color to support the football team? My relatives in Alabama are so excited that it is college football season again. I love your videos.
Nice to see you back. Today’s news is upsetting. Prayers for peace. Your advice was very good. Also help your neighbors as best you can. God bless all.
I want to share that a few weeks ago, my husband and I went to check out the newer Costco in our area. One thing I noticed is the meat section in general is smaller by far than our other older locations. Less display cases for the meat over all. Edited to add that they also had electronic scanners for your Costco card at the entrance now as well. Which I wasn’t pleased to see.
Hey, Margaret. I’m coming down in two weeks for my 50th High School reunion. I went to W.S. Neal in East Brewton. I’m finding some grocery items are hit and miss up here in Kansas where I live now.
Alabama here, we wanted to grill and smoke some meat too. There was meat but it was too high to even buy. We normally buy what meat we want and fill up the grill multiple meats, but it’s just too high now. We had to settle for a small amount of cheap meat and only a couple pounds of ground beef. Our Walmart was out of Red Diamond Tea and our block cheese we always get.
@@Robinetta we don’t buy meat at Walmart, we go to Foodland for meat and Walmart for some other products. We go to multiple stores for different things. Like Foodland and Piggly Wiggly doesn’t offer anything organic.
It's so sad you're not able to get the groceries you need. Tim Walz is my governor and we are able to get whatever we need. (He even passed legislation that provides free meals and menstrual products in schools for students.) Store shelves are full and we see prices easing on many things, including gas. Regarding prices, I am so glad that Kamala Harris has a plan to crack down on price-gouging corporate conglomerates. It was recently revealed by a Kroger executive that his company gouged grocery prices above inflation. Reports say he revealed this information during an antitrust trial. Now Kroger wants to merge with Albertson's into an even bigger monopoly that fixes high prices for consumers. The former president gave big corporations huge tax breaks and they've been raking in record profits. He plans to give them even more tax windfalls should he be elected, and raise taxes on lower/middle income folks. It's all in his Project 2025 plan that has been put together by dozens of his former staffers. BTW, Harris's plan for additional housing and tax incentives for new home buyers doesn't say anything about immigrants. FYI, while it's true that some immigrants are housed in hotels, it is not an amenity for "illegals." It is a public health measure where migrants are quarantined for a period of time, usually 10 days, after which they are free to go live with family or friends. These are folks who were let into the U.S. to seek asylum. If you are concerned about getting accurate news, steer clear of Fox, as they've had to pay out nearly $800 million in a defamation lawsuit filed against them by Dominion Voting Machines. Fox had spread lies about them rigging the last election and they are not to be trusted.

I had the same problem in Australia. I bought a rump roast and it was tough but also I felt like it may have been one of those "lab" grown meat products. There was something very wrong with it.

Use it up, wear it out, make do, do without.

People work all hours of the day. We all shop different hours. Usually they have a store rebate.
Yes having issues finding things already in stores consistently here even in the big city
Shortages and prices climbing and smaller amounts. It's definitely starting to really get real.
