In the “The Heart Part 6,” Drake addresses the allegations and controversy made by Kendrick on his last two disses “meet the grahams,” and “Not Like Us.” Following the release of “meet the grahams,” the beef took a pretty dark turn, as Kendrick accused Drake of pedophilia, shady behavior with Harvey Weinstein, and having a baby daughter.
Similarly to how Kendrick mocked Drake’s AM/PM series of songs with “6:16 in LA”, Drake takes a page out of Kendrick’s book by mocking his “The Heart” series, which has been a staple throughout Kendrick’s long career.
Drake revealed the song via an Instagram post without any prior announcement on the evening hours of May 5, 2024, with the caption:
The Heart Part 6 out now
And we know you’re dropping 6 mins after so instead of posting my address you have a lot to address
The song’s single art depicts an Instagram comment by pgLang co-founder Dave Free under a post of Whitney Alford’s children. Drake uses this to allude to his claim made on “Family Matters” that Alford cheated on Kendrick with Free, resulting in Free being the biological father of one of Alford’s kids.
On the track, Drake continues to press the red button, as he addresses everything that Kendrick has recently thrown his way. He reveals that the supposed existence of an 11-year-old daughter that Kendrick suggested is a completely false hoax that was leaked to Kendrick’s team in hopes of baiting him to use it to his advantage.
Drake also addresses the allegations of pedophile-like behavior that Kendrick first described on “meet the grahams”, explicitly denying the allegations, as he notes how even expected Kendrick to go in that direction in terms of his lyrical content. He also calls out Whitney Alford for not addressing Drake’s claims that she was abused by Kendrick, which he claims to be fact rather than fiction.
The song uses a “Prove It” by Aretha Franklin throughout. It looks like Drake wrote the song and produced it in one day, which means the sample was cleared in less than 24 hours.
