  • After the Aaron Rodgers injury news seemed to have derailed the New York Jets 2023 season, they’ve quickly bounced back from the distraction & seem to be one of the hottest teams in the entire NFL at this point. But with an Aaron Rodgers injury return still looming with what he’s said in interviews, on the Pat McAfee show, etc, Robert Saleh, Nathaniel Hackett & company have done things with this New York Jets team that I don’t think anyone was expecting to see at this point.
To start with the NY Jets offense, Zach Wilson has continued to improve week by week as this team has progressed. After competing in their matchup vs the Kansas CIty Chiefs, the Jets Eagles showdown let us see a new Jets offense that we had not seen before. By incorporating a new mix of the pass game and run game, and getting backs like Breece Hall, Dalvin Cook, & even wideouts like Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb & even Tyler Conklin going in different ways, the New York Jets are springing into a new offensive identity.
But if there’s anything to sing high praises for, it’s the New York Jets defense highlights. Headlined by guys like Sauce Gardner, Jordan Whitehead, DJ Reed, CJ Mosley, Quincy Williams, Quinnen Williams, Jermaine Johnson, etc, Jets DC Jeffery Ulbrich is operating the heart and soul of this team. And while the Jets await a potential Aaron Rodgers return in the coming months, who’s to say this team can’t further improve coming off a bye week?
This video includes 2023 New York Jets highlights, also including topics like New york jets 2023, ny jets highlights, aaron rodgers injury news, aaron rodgers interview, zach wilson highlights, jets vs eagles, jets eagles highlights, jets full game, new york jets live, breece hall highlights, breece hall nyj, jets one drive, jets breece hall, garrett wilson highlights, jets hard knocks, jets post game, jets first take, jets espn, ny jets undisputed, new york jets gmfb, new york jets news today, sauce gardner news, jets defense highlights, jets reaction, jets digest, jets injury news, jets media, jets football, allen lazard jets, robert saleh interview, nathaniel hackett jets interview, cj mosley jets, dj reed jets, ny jets analysis, ny jets news latest, ny jets reaction, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through UA-cam.

My favorite thing about Jets is they have 7-8 very good defensive lineman and they rotate them like a carousel so that by the 2nd half they are all fresh and opposing olinemen are gassed, and this is reflected in their domination of second halves. Since 2022 Bryce Huff has been play-for-play the most efficient pass rusher in league and nobody evens knows him outside Jet fans cuz he only comes in on 3rd down.

Great point. The Jets have two sets of Defensive ends that would start on any other team. They also have two sets of DB's that can start on any other team. This gives them fresh legs during the second half. Michael Clemens and Carl Lawson were out. They have McDonald, who they drafted, Quentin Jefferson, Bryce Huff, Quinnen Willams backing up.

And we best the Eagles without Sauce and DJ! Huff is one of the best pasz rushers in the league and Quincy Williams is a blazing fast LB. I think the offense gets better as season progresses as they figured out a formula that works. Still 11 games to go...most of the season lays ahead.

If you just look at the numbers for the Jets, they look like a mid/low tier team. But if you actually watch them play, you see a team that just makes plays on both sides of the ball. When the game is on the line, they make plays. They are a sneaky good team.

The 2022 Vikings were sneaky good and "just made plays" all season- until they lost to the Brian Daboll Giants in the wildcard game. This team needs the offense to continue making strides- if they get to a point they can score 24-35 a game, you can argue this team is nigh unbeatable. All the weapons are there, too.
This is the most excited I've been about a Jets team since the Rex Ryan-era playoff runs. If the fact that this 3-3 team is my best memory of the Jets in nearly a decade and a half doesnt show you just how hard it is to be a Jets fan, then nothing will 😂😂😂 so while it's totally fine to have hope, we all need to temper our expectations until we see Zach take a few more steps, since it's clear by now this season is ride-or-die with him. But he's certainly playing the best sustained football of his career so far.

As a Jets fan, I still can’t believe that Eagles win. Unreal coaching job on defense, couldn’t sack Hurts that often because he’s so slippery but the crazy looks we gave him and consistent pressure we applied up front clearly got to him. The defense has looked EVEN BETTER this year than last, and it’s just incredible to see. Our offense has proven to be better at MOVING the ball with Zack, but it hasn’t shown it’s effective at SCORING yet. We have some of the most frustrating red zone play in the league, and I think Wilson himself said it best; there’s always a mistake being made by someone, whether by him, a receiver, an OL, etc. that backs them out of there. If we could just clamp down on that, even just getting to the point where we score a TD some 30-35% of the time in the red zone, it will make these games so much easier to win. Hackett needs to get more creative and put his faith in Zack more in the Red Zone and our offense needs to stop with the stupid errors and I think we’ll be fine. I think the offense may surprise some people in coming weeks going up against the weaker teams. Hopefully they can use those games to build Zack’s confidence leading into (hopefully) a playoff spot by the end of the year.

I think Zack Wilson in the last 3 games has proven how huge a difference a little confidence can make. He's still missing some big throws but he's starting to throw the ball like he's expecting good things as opposed to hoping for them. Take away the horrendous offensive game plan against NE and a dropped snap against KC and this team could be 5-1 as insane as that sounds.

Super impressed bywhat they have been able to do so far. The defense is always "on", they look great. The receivers are great play makers, and the backs are just dang good. Zach is making progress... still maybe the weakest part of their developing team. But, it is great to see what a team rallying behind one another looks like. The coaching staff has pulled this together, when everyone supports one another - it makes everyone look better and play better as a whole. Great job JETS!

I really think the defense was rattled by Rodgers injury and lost faith in Zach after the Pats game. U can see how different they played in the first quarter of the KC game vs the second. Once Zach scored a TD the pass rush was dialed up to 11. I think once The Jets offense lifts some weight off the defense they will only get better.

  • @jeremyvaccaro

It comes down to the “defense wins games/championships” narrative. Our defense lets up a lot of yards but gets a lot of turnovers and really cracks down in the red zone and a lot of the other teams offensive drives stall out and they have to settle for 3. That Mixed with ENOUGH offense. As long as Zach Wilson doesn’t turnover the ball and we have a league average offense the sky is the limit with this team just because of how the defense sets the the energy of the game

Zach Wilson was a qb with enough arm talent to make any through but of limited college experience who came to a team with a new HC and OC and the tragic loss of a true qb coach, Greg Knapp - who tragically never made it to camp. And the Jets proceeded to break him. Credit many for not tossing Zach overboard and committing to rebuilding him. He has rare arm talent, mobility and it turns out, plenty of fortitude. He is significantly improved in his footwork, understanding of the pocket (remarkable as the O line is a tragedy in itself) and the game plan as it's been adapted to his current understanding. More importantly, he is improving each week and in game. He is managing the game while developing. If this continues eventually it will meet up with the arm talent and it will be clear why Patrick Mahomes told him to play like that all year and why Patrick Mahomes has been watching him since BYU - Most importantly, the fortitude it takes to go through everything in NYC is more than I would have expected. I would not be surprised if in two years he is cemented as the starting QB for the Jets.

Detailed and fair analysis. On the defensive side , I am not surprised by anything other than the electic and dynamic play of Quincy Williams. I didn't expect Williams, a 5th year player, who at best was an average NFL LB, to be playing at an "All Pro" level. One could expect game breaking play from the Defensive line which is stacked with 3 1st round draft choices. And, the secondary is stacked as well with a top 5, maybe even top 3 cornerback tandem of Gardner and Reed. Offensively, one could expect Zach Wilson could only improve, Zach was the #2 choice in the draft for a reason. The fact is, during Wilson's first two seasons, he didn't work with or have access to a competent OC and mentor in future HF Rodgers, let alone full access to big time play makers like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.

I completely agree! I am a die hard Aaron Rodgers fan for life and Brett Favre. You know you guys keep throwing the Aaron Rodgers clone out there for Zach, but I see a lot of Brett Favre in Zach Wilson. That's why I hope this kid keeps working hard. I think for a minute he started letting money and new fame lead him to no job, but I feel like he got a grip on it and is now working harder than any other player I've ever seen in the history of the NFL. If he continues to work hard I would be willing to let Aaron Rodgers retire and enjoy what he has done in his career and let that be that. Then Zach can be the new QB#1 He surely has the talent and definitely has the arm strength and accuracy. The Whole Jets Nation has taken this guy in and gave him a new home and a whole new love for the game. I hate that the Packers fans just threw Rodgers away like yesterday's trash. After throwing Favre away first, then Rodgers that was all she wrote for me I don't and will never wear my Packers Hat again. I will from now until I'm forced to switch to another team and hopefully that will never happen, but if it does ever happen then and only then would I switch. I grew up a big Steve Young, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Merton Hanks, and many others as well, loving 49ers fan with my parents. Then after Favre joined the Packers I slowly fell in love with everything about him. At heart I still had a love for the 49ers, but it was everything Packers for the next 28 years or so. Now it's time to be a Jets fan. You know I was a huge Mark Sanchez fan back in the day also. I'm just saying although I have only been a full time Jets fan for a short time now, I do plan to die as a Jets fan. I do not change teams the Packers moved on from Rodgers so I moved on from the Packers. I'm just excited that I wasn't treated like dirt for making the switch. The Jets Nation is a great fan base and a lot of awesome people and a hell of a team. Probably the most talented team as a whole I've ever laid eyes on and I was a Packers fan in 1996 season when we were ranked 1 in Offense and defense both and went to the super bowl and beat the Patriots the same season but in 1997. I just wanted to say thank you for taking me in and making me feel at home . Jets were always my back up team. You know that team you keep in the back of your mind that you secretly like more and more every year and you pay attention to the things that are going on with it. That's been my experience with it all.

i would love for fans to just take some time to watch Bryce Huff. this is gonna sound funny because most fans (probably other than Jets fans) don’t even know that name lol but he’s arguably a top 5-10 edge rn. arguably the best get off in the NFL (not sure what the stats are but i’d assume he’s either at or near the top in terms of get off time) and he’s either leading or near the top of the league in almost every stat that has to do with pressures while he’s getting SIGNIFICANTLY less snaps than guys like Parsons, Watt, Bosa etc. the sack numbers aren’t there but again, if his snaps were similar to those top guys i’m almost sure he’d have much more sacks. one of the many super fun players to watch on that defense

I’m not a truther-level Zach supporter, but it’s been exhausting defending him against shallow assessments. He spent 2 years with an OC who didn’t know or want to know how to use him, with one of the worst O-lines in football, with a wildly overrated group of pass catchers outside of GW, with an offensive personnel group who took ZERO responsibility for any mistakes and pinned everything on him, with a media and fan base who wanted to vilify him, and yet here he is, poised to finally get a real shot under reasonable circumstances, and I believe his best football is going to happen in the coming weeks. When I watched Justin Herbert on Monday against the Cowboys, I saw a very similar, albeit less mobile, quarterback who has had an offensive approach tailored around his strengths and weaknesses, something Wilson is getting for the first time in his career. I expect Rodgers’ return to be more of a dilemma than people are anticipating. My common refrain has been that Peyton Manning and Lamar Jackson couldn’t run each other’s offenses, just as Wilson isn’t suited for an offense that can be run by Mike White, Joe Flacco, of Aaron Rodgers. He’s a unique player, and when utilized and groomed properly, he has all the ability to grow into a top 10 QB.

    • @sserrano49
      @sserrano49 7 місяців тому +2

That’s funny you mention Herbert the last few times I’ve watched him play I feel like the Jets potentially have a better QB. Herbert is still making horrible throws and making bad decisions yet he’s considered a top QB. While Zach hasn’t proved anything stat wise I think his resiliency from what he dealt with last year then coming in this year showing the improvement in such a short time I think Zach is going to create some buzz after the bye.

@@vinnyb3978 Right -- Sanchez and Wilson have opposite progression problems -- Sanchez would race from first read to checkdown, while Wilson has been a tic too slow, particularly under pressure. But Wilson actually gets better with good protection: Sanchez was something of a waste of a HoF offensive line. And while G-Dub is great, they don't have the true tandem of a Marshall and Holmes.
I forget the game, but a few weeks ago Breece Hall looked like he had a potential endzone run just based on numbers, and Breece Hall leaned his forearm on the lead blocker, which is a move I associate with Curtis Martin, and the blocker was so startled that he stopped running and the play died right there. In 2010 I felt like you were squeezing the most out of the offensive personnel and were just bottlenecked at QB: this year drives stall out for the most random reasons.

Against the Eagles, the defence was invisable, all the missed tackles, I definitely needed more tums than I had available. I hope during the bye week all the tackling dummies are out on the feild and the coaches stress the point of not only hitting the ball carrier but wrapping them up.

  • @dizzyjazz212

This didn't really mention the special teams much or the effect of the turn overs on field position. The jets punter is very good and can pin other teams deep constantly. Its a part of why the jets let up so much yards because the defense is built to bend not break. Additionally the jets probably ( i havent looked at the numbers but ive seen every play the jets have had) are one of the best starting positions for their offense on most drives. Redzone efficiency is trash but the defense is so good that the offense just needs to be even a little below average and they win

This was a great analysis, Zach Wilson is slowly but surely getting better as the weeks go on in Nathaniel Hackett's scheme. The offensive line is banged up so he knows he's gotta get rid of it quick. That means dump offs to RBs or TEs and that's totally fine! Breece, Dalvin and MC can all catch and pick up YAC on plays that otherwise would've went for nothing. Zach needs to continue doing the little things right and I also think the Jets should trade for a solid route runner and pass-catcher. Perhaps a disgruntled DeAndre Hopkins on a floundering Titans team...? Hmm..

Once ZW was at the helm play action pass is the name of the game. It took them a while to sort it out but in the KC game they figured it out. Even with Rodgers this team was going to be run first.

Everyone loves to bash Zach and the jets offense because of what they did the last few years and stat wise it doesn’t look much different but having watched every single game over the years things definitely look different. Zach has improved quite a bit and I feel like he’s right on the edge of taking that next step to being a good QB. Like said in the video his accuracy and foot work is night and day. Last year he couldn’t hit a receiver in the flat now he’s dropping dimes over defenders. His pocket presence has improved. Last year he would run into defenders trying to escape now he’s stepping up.
One key thing that doesn’t get talked about is how many mistakes the team makes in the red zone. It seems like every red zone opp they kill the drive with penalties or dropping passes. Then the play calling has come into question. They were being too predictable when they got in the red zone by calling run run pass every time. No play action, no screens, no roll outs. It felt like they still didn’t trust Zach to not turn it over. The past few games they’ve had opportunities in the red zone and if they just convert 1 the game would be a different story. I think this offense gets it figured out at the right time. With our defense playing lights out in the 2nd half and special teams playing like they are they can definitely make the playoffs and possibly make a run.
