Doom Eternal: Demons were hurt in the making of this. The Ancient Gods Part 1: A few more demons were hurt The Ancient Gods Part 2: Yeah fuck it, no more demons shall live
@@daneelaart Urdak’s ambience fits the level very well. I just don’t like that level or the music in it at all. However, considering it’s still “heaven” at the beginning of a demonic invasion, the music makes sense. Then The Holt’s music changes to a more metal version of Urdak’s theme to fit the fact that it’s now overran by demons, which I like a lot.
Damn... when I heard the heavy fighting part, it gave me chills, and the same fears when I first played the Holt Level on Nightmare 😨 I hope this will be more intense than the Holt when Master levels is ready for TAG2.
Something that I loved about this level is when you are heading into the spear you can see fallen titan in the lake in incredible numbers, something that should be surprising because dead killing a single titan even with a crucible or a big ass mech is hard
I've been fighting the Valkyries in god of war to this whenever I want to feel extra motivated, makes the fights even more epic and extra satisfying when I beat them
When I saw that everyone's comments are hearted it reminds me of when Roboco hearted everyone's comment as well, but also I love this soundtrack it fucking slaps.
@The Dinosaur Heretic Hulshult and Levy have used old doom riffs as well as samples of Micks work in the base game(like the heavenly singing from Urdak being in the Holt, obviously this, and bfg division as well as dark halls both being in the music for Davoths fight) and it’s really cool because it seems like they are fans of both micks work and the series itself. Really makes you go “Hey that’s familiar” and makes the music for all of the doom series connected in some way.
@The Dinosaur Heretic very interesting thing is that whole world spear soundtrack is just exultia ambience music (second level from base game) on steroids. Heavily inspired and upgraded with some of the spiciest riffs of the whole Doom franchise.
Some names I thought of that I think would be great names for the tracks used in the World Spear: Ambience: World Spear Heavy Fighting: Cry of the Wraiths Super Heavy Fighting: Hellbreaker
I had some thoughts about DOOM. What happens to a lot of players - from casual to serious, practiced, and fairly skilled - is that they reach a certain skill level and plateau. I've beaten everything on Nightmare and every vanilla Master Level on Ultra-Nightmare, and I reckon I could beat TAG1 and/or 2 on UN after a few attempts, but I seriously doubt I could beat the base campaign on UN. I only got as good by forcing myself to learn new skills (e.g. quick-switching) and fully understand the game's mechanics to a numerical extent (exactly how many shots of a weapon does it take to stagger a particular enemy?). I've also spent a lot of time watching the real pros - the guys (because, let's face it, they overwhelming are) who can beat anything, on any difficulty, fairly reliably. I think what they do is push their plateau as high as it can go. They figure out exactly what they need to do to improve and habitualise it (e.g. hitting the maximum quick-switching speed and knowing exactly how to move through a given arena at maximum speed). But I think they've also developed something else: the ability to react to new scenarios (because even though DOOM ends up being quite predicable, there's enough novelty in every fight to keep us all enthralled) in real-time. Doing this well requires habitualised skill - but it also requires that one practice mindfulness, in the literal sense of being present in the moment, in the game and one's perception of it, rather than zoning out and playing on autopilot or drifting away with thoughts of other things. I doubt I'm fanatic enough to push myself as high as the pros, but habitualising useful skills and remaining truly open and mindful to new experiences are generalisable. I love DOOM.
Mine would be: Ambience: World Spear Light fighting: Blood Swamps Heavy fighting: Blood Swamps Super heavy fighting: World Spear Main game song: The Only Thing They Fear Is You

*In the first age, In the first battle, One stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, His soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment.* *In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Umbral Plains seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him.*
Doom Eternal: "demons may have been hurt in the making of this soundtrack" The Ancient Gods Part 1: "demons were DEFINITELY hurt in the making of this soundtrack" The Ancient Gods Part 2: "we are currently being tried in Hague for the possibility that we may have caused mass demon genocide during the making of this soundtrack"
Guys, for a month I am overwhelmed how good this level is. Cannot get over it. I fuckin love the music of this level, and the atmosphere is so viking-ish (cold placed and red hammer) I freaking love that.
I have to say Immora. I love the hell choir in it as well as the absolute chaos, but the more I listen to all of them, the more I like everything. World Spear has that heavy viking feel, while Reclaimed Earth can rip your ears with its violent starts and stops.
It felt so good fighting for the people of Sentinel, but it was marred by the edgy/emo plot twist they decided to go with in Ancient Gods. Imagine how awesome it would have been to restore God to the throne, instead of killing him (twice) and leaving the universe in control of an amnesic AI. Doom's plot could have been something wholesome and amazing, but instead it ends up feeling like it was written by a 15 year old emo kid. A very smart emo kid, but an emo kid none the less.
Not planning on doing whole-level mixes for dlc 1, but if people really want that I can do it. For now, I just have to do Reclaimed Earth and Immora and then I can go back to my own stuff
