    No Chuck but my folks had a commercial camp ground on the East end of PEI for 20 years. As a ships Captain I made passages off your beautiful slice of heaven over the years...While I have a beautiful camp in remote Maine it does not compare with the your backcountry...
    Keep up the good work and again, Thanks for sharing

    Incredible machine. Look at buying the 600 or 900. would the 600 go through deeper snow. It would have a lighter front end.

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors

      Not a noticeable difference. I’ve owned both and can’t say it was a determining factor not to upgrade to the 900

    Chuck. you still happy with the Skandic. thinking about getting one for my off grid camp near Rangeley ME. I'm 12 miles back on logging road so I pull a sled with gas food and gear. 28 miles to gas and 36 miles for food

    Chuck I enjoy your UA-cam channel... I plan on watching and learning as much as I can. I got the same machine and I love it as well. I notice going down a hill I hear a clicking under the hood, (probably the gear) Did you notice the same thing when coasting downhill?

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  7 років тому +2

      P McCoy I know exactly the sound you are referring to. When I got my first 600 ace about 5 years ago, I called the shop as I thought it was a problem. They told me it was normal. In disbelief I still went looking for a “problem” under the hood, but it soon became evident from listening to dozens of other machines of similar models that this sound is “normal” after all. Even after five years and now upgrading to the 900 ace it’s still there and a normal sound to contend with. With such a quiet motor you hear everything exaggerated as well (which is a good thing I guess!)
      Gearing up for a 1000 km trek next week. 4-5 days on the country. Will post video once I get back and edit

      This is taken just outside the communities of Labrador City and Wabush. Most northeastern Province in Canada (Labrador). I grew up on the Island of Newfoundland but have lived in Labrador for 25 years now. The scenery is quite breathtaking for certain. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment

    Great machine! Is there a manual starter? Thank!

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  6 років тому +1

      The simple answer is yes. However, it a rope and toggle system that’s contained in the tool box, and is only designed for emergencies. Realistically though, I don’t think it would ever get you out of a jam as it’s too hard too pull over and just too time consuming to set it up repeatedly

      @@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoorsI understood. A person should be confident in his snowmobile. Whether fishing or hunting. Far from home and in severe frost, this is especially important. Sorry for my English. From Russia with love)

    Have you tried towing with it? How does it compare to a bearcat 7000xt?

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  6 років тому +2

      Yes sir. I tow large loads quite often. I burn wood at my cabin so hauling large loads of wood is a regular thing. Check out my other videos to see examples. One video in particular is called “cutting firewood and a cook up”. I know people with the bearcats but given the type and depth of snow we have here in the North, the Super Wide Track seems to trump all. Thanks for watching!

    Chuck how do you find the width of this machine? is it comfortable? I'm looking at a Expedition LE at 20 wide

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      It is extremely comfortable....and for Labrador with our type of snow, the 20" is the lowest I would go. I've had a 24" for about a decade now and wouldn't look back

    • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  6 років тому +1

      Not sure off the top of my head but I can usually get between 250-350 kms on a single tank depending on snow conditions and whether or not I’m towing a load (sleigh).

    Hi Chuck, I just picked up this same machine with 12 miles on it. I took it out for the first time the other day and it seemed slow for being in high range. What are the speeds and RPMs you run at? I wasn't pushing it but at 25 mph I had 4500 to 5000 RPMs.

      I bought it off of a guy in Labrador, however, it was built in Quebec, Canada. Unfortunately,try as I may, I can’t track down the guy. He moved shortly after I bought it. I also watched the Nain trip as I did that as well three weeks ago. We went NWR to Nain the first day. A little much in one run mind you. You can view some of the pics on my instagram. • @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors
      @ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors  6 років тому

      Yes it is homemade, however, I bought it from a guy and he had someone else make it for him. And try as I may, I can’t track down the original guy that made it. Too bad as it works incredibly well and the guy could make a mint selling them as dozens and dozens of people have asked me about it.

      Michael Robinson the cargo box was made from aluminum and fabricated to the correct size. It is mounted by four bolts that match up with the factory bolt “holes” positioned (from the factory) on the inside rails of the rear storage area.

      DLK HAY yes there are quite a few here actually. I’ve never driven one but those who have claim that they can drive comfortably in areas that a wide track would. The long track coupled with the 3” track paddle gives it very good traction plus it has the sporty look and touch to it
