  • first time in copenhagen eeek! this city stole my heart with it's beauty and delicious food. we were so lucky that the weather was mostly sunny and not that cold, so soft that we only went to a single museum (our plan was 3 or 4). every single store, cafe and restaurant i saw was so pretty that i left my mind behind. i think it's safe to say that i'll be back 🤞🏼🤎
ps: it's my first vlog abroad so it's a special one for me. last time i tried, my camera was broken because it was was -8°C in oslo 🥲

Just to mention, that the grey lamp behind the introduction, on the wall, is a design by famous Arne Jacobsen, who also designed "The Danish National Bank" and a full Hotel with all its furniture and utensils! They still have a room to rent, looking as originally intended. The famous Eeg Chair, The Swan and others come from this. And most are still being produced. You are also able to visit: Finn Juhls private home north of Copenhagen. He was invited to to make a Conference Room in The UN building which still exist. His home has been rebuilt in Japan as an exact copy with all its original Finn Juhl furniture, by a Japanese Billionaire!

@@yeamur Hans J. Wegner has an exhibition of his furniture in he Water-tower (former), in his birthplace, Tønder in southern Jutland. Also Børge Mogensen, who designed one of the most common ordinary chairs (As many other) during his time working as a Designer and Leader for the COOP (FDB) Furniture Factory in Jutland.
We also have a special "Design Museum" in Copenhagen in which you are able to find much excellent Danish Design ("Kunstindustrimuseet", Bredgade 68, 1261 Copenhagen K)!
I'm sure You will be much inspired if visiting this!! Finn

My own favorite shoes, named "Jacoform" (I'm an old man of 76!) has been produced since 1965 and got a "Danish Industrial Design Award" by then. They are totally flat and very soft in the sole, though being basically designed/constructed by Jørgen Keller, who was an Officer involved in the making of the Danish, foot shaped, Army Boots, of course with heels!!! But he was allowed free hands in making the shoes from a by then Local Shoe Factory! The actual look of the shoe was made by the Factory Designer, with an extra leather triangle on top, in front, which makes them very easy to recognize!!
Today they are still being produced in Poland for less expenses than in Denmark, as the production rights became sold some years ago. Finn

By the way, Bredgade, meaning Broad-street, is rather narrow in the old part of Copenhagen, while Smallegade, meaning Narrow Street, is one of the widest in town! Finn 😁

have I mentioned that I studied industrial design and i'm a nerd when it comes to design? 🤓 yet i never heard about Arne Jacobsen or Jacoform when I was at school and now I'm in awe. Sadly I only got to visit Nationalmuseet - what amazed me the most is that you could almost see all the movements that affected Danish culture, design and architecture, I think Danish people have a strong creative sense. thank you for all these informations 🩵 though I'm so sad that I missed the Design Museum :')
