Imagine fighting your local wars between city states for centuries, not knowing there are more nations out there, until one day a massive fucking fleet out of nowhere takes out all your continent in a matter of weeks
1) Rise and fall of Ethiopian Empire 2) Excellent Carthaginian performance 3) Goddamn Denmark wasted real great opportunity to win 4) That ending steamroll of gunpowder Carthage over primitive second continent was epic
Game was over when Carthage unified the Western Island but the Eastern Island still had 4 Major feuding Powers. If France had been quicker it probably would have been less of a squash.
I like how everyone is fighting each other on the eastern continent and then in like 3 turns Carthage is like *Bursts down door* HEYO WAZZZUP *anihilates Arabia in 3 seconds*
I think this one would have been more interesting if the continents were mostly equal... Snow hills are a lot more limiting than open desert, plus getting an early oasis is a big advantage. Still a cool watch regardless, would love to see it redone!
Wow, the AI actually playing smart! Good job Carthage on actually just building a giant navy and obliterating everyone all at once! Although the guys on the west continent had a really unfair advantage over the others since it's pretty clearly better.
I knew right off that Carthage was going to do well. Free harbors on a map where all the cities are on coasts? Yeah, talk about a huge advantage. This map was made for Carthage. Add on that, as others have said, tundra is worse than desert, and this outcome was predictable.
Why would harbours be an advantage on this map? There aren't really enough non-enemy cities to make the trade route bonus give more than +1 or 2 gold and it's not like city connections matter when newly conquered cities have little population.
The issue wasn't deserts vs ice/tundra insomuch as it was flat vs hills. Flat means civs rise and fall faster, which makes a dominant power show itself faster (also sometimes the speed backfires through unit depletion RIP Ethiopia). And due to the nature of the map, ruling your continent first is effectively gg. Of course, Carthage had a major advantage here, but it wasn't so much the free harbours, but the unique ship being far too OP for the early game here.
There were two major reasons for the victory. First, one island was flat, the other hills. It's a lot easier to attack/harder to defend flat. So cities fall faster and you should get a dominant power faster than on the hilly continent, which means the left continent was always going to be more likely to win. Second, the reason it was Carthage (at least at the speed it happened) was because they gained their special powerful boats at the right time. Boats on a map like this are overpowered.
the real fuck up: if ethiopia didn't over extend into portugal they would've had a real chance of winning it all, since they had a city advantage on everyone.
What about colonization scenario? Several big or medium continents to sustain a great peaceful development with only one civilization each. Separated by ocean
Arab overexpanded? Wasn't there just like 2 of them and both were stuck with one city before getting wiped out? Or do you talk about the first one to expand, which is african?
Just letting you know that the AI knows where the other continent is as soon as the sea borders meet. AI civs do the introduction thing and then establish embassies. So, no, you will have a pretty good idea of "what will come from the sea".
i think you can use a mod to view the economy/culture/military-strength/faith…(the score) of every nation that would be nice, insane time lapses by the way ;)
Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that Constantinople had a really good chance to snipe cities when they had that huge fleet....Except they set there too long and let carthage get all the Ethiopian cities...
Right island seems to have less food, so has a disadvantage and also (I have seen only 3 or 4 of your videos yet) germany seems always to have a bad starting point, like this time as well
You mean in comparison to plains and desert? Eastern Island even has extra hills and in total the difference is minimal, you can load the map and check it by yourself.
Germany is a great empire in civ 5, there's definitely some timelapses where they easely win, I just can't point any now, look for some more and shure you will find it
It was always my question why in civ 5 some civs like japan sweden poland the houn and persia are always in every fights too strongs and for example spain austria england usa are always weak. That's a balance problem tho
Yeah the civs you mention that "dominate" are the ones with early /mid game unique units whereas the ones you said that lose are the ones with unique units that come in later game.
1. Just make the map custom, there are websites that explain how to do that 2. The youtuber above hasn’t posted in ages, and this is an old video anyway
Hannibal conquered this world. But there wasn't Rome...
Imagine fighting your local wars between city states for centuries, not knowing there are more nations out there, until one day a massive fucking fleet out of nowhere takes out all your continent in a matter of weeks
Like indians had fought between themselves before Europeans arrived.
So basically what the british did to literally every continent
@@enochgriffith8497 And France.
I like that subtle historical metaphor
And Spain, but only to Americas.

Poor Ethiopia.Broke the balance of power and the rest of them broke him.The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse eats the cheese.

kinda like the orcs and the eastern kingdoms if you ask me haha
Denmark vs Carthage was pretty fucking awesome
The tundra/ice continent lost? Who could have seen this coming?!?!!?
carthage teleports behind france omae wa mo shindeiru napoleon:nani?!
Carthage hit the other continent like a wrecking ball
Carthage finally won a game, I'm so happy
Hawaii taking over America? My, how the tables have turned
Justin Norman because they drink chichi
In a weird turn of events, Hawaii invades the US
And India conquered the British.
That Carthage steamrolling both Amsterdam and Mecca tho
That was better than D-Day
Transoceanic War Elephants, winning Carthage's wars of conquest since 425 A.D.
I think this one would have been more interesting if the continents were mostly equal... Snow hills are a lot more limiting than open desert, plus getting an early oasis is a big advantage.

Carthage had great economical advantage with free harbors -> route connections between cities
That moment when Poland is on the other continent so Germany just gives up
3:55 HELLO FROM THE OTHER SIDE !!
i didnt expect that at all ! I literally was like ohhhh shiiitttt game over
Hannibal got tired of hearing all the Carthago Delenda Est jokes
The Carthigian ability of automatically getting harbors gave them a considerable edge.
Wow, the AI actually playing smart! Good job Carthage on actually just building a giant navy and obliterating everyone all at once! Although the guys on the west continent had a really unfair advantage over the others since it's pretty clearly better.
Dido lucky my mans Ghandi didn't make it to nuke time
That naval flank by Carthage though

French only just started to dominate their continent, launched attack on India, then suddenly colonizators came.
The 4th Punic War

These wars are really starting to take atoll...
I'll just see myself out right now.... :(
Please do
Begone xD
Nice to see that for a naval map like this one England got knocked out before they could man o war spam
Yes, but amazingly they re-took London at least three times after losing it :)
the real fuck up: if ethiopia didn't over extend into portugal they would've had a real chance of winning it all, since they had a city advantage on everyone.
gonna be honest I thought India was dead from the start but jesus they.. did something right, clearly
What about colonization scenario? Several big or medium continents to sustain a great peaceful development with only one civilization each. Separated by ocean
Ethiopia done goofed, took Lisbon as its 3rd instead of Carthage when it had a pop and tech advantage.
When someone shouts "Carthago delenda est"
i like how arab overexpanded and got screwed
Arab overexpanded? Wasn't there just like 2 of them and both were stuck with one city before getting wiped out? Or do you talk about the first one to expand, which is african?
This was the first time i witnessed Carthage to win
Lolol Honolulu captured Washington lolol
Had to replay this video twice just 2 see how the other island was holding up.
Praise the mighty elephants
London's dying and being reborn like the phoenix!!
256 turns is pretty impressive
The moment the Eastern island civs took more of the atolls I knew that it was likely whoever won on that island would likely win the game.
EscapeVelocity You mean Western island?
LuqmanLSG he's probably Australian, things work different over there.
This was a done deal, the moment Carthage took Warsaw
Just letting you know that the AI knows where the other continent is as soon as the sea borders meet. AI civs do the introduction thing and then establish embassies. So, no, you will have a pretty good idea of "what will come from the sea".
london was taken back then lost then taken back etc, I was really routing for them
london population in 850 was 11, in 1020 it decrease to 1.
I always root for Carthage. They finally made me proud
Cato the Elder would NOT be pleased.
Delenda est Carthago!!! but i prefer rome 2 saying Carthage must be Punished
Carthage did a Carnage
Best one yet
Carfage without Rome
Ethiopia screwed up big time cutting its island in half
I dont even play Civ. But these are awesome
Denmark vs Carthage? Huh, boring. Battle of London? That's what I call a REAL fight.
Denmark, you tried...
the sunset invasion with music was epic
not really a balanced game seeing as right island is at a major disadvantage for the biggest part of the game because they dont have iron
just... like colonialism? perhaps?
i think you can use a mod to view the economy/culture/military-strength/faith…(the score) of every nation that would be nice, insane time lapses by the way ;)
bruh I blinked. BLINKED! And all of a sudden, Turkey is conquered, and the French got blockaded
Turkey isn't even in the game, dude.
@@MunyuShizumi Constantinople

Turkish (Ottoman to be exact) equivalent would be Istanbul.
They're capturing turkey every damn time. Damn!
kartago and pasive from free shipyards and connecting each city make them income to win the war

Look at me, look at me......I'm the Carthage now
should try it again but each island is its own team of 10
Adele liked this
one civ who conquered the continent gets much more advanced then small civs on other continent. so true
Right island seems to have less food, so has a disadvantage and also (I have seen only 3 or 4 of your videos yet) germany seems always to have a bad starting point, like this time as well
Berlin is more of late game when they get Panzars.
Good stuff.
Carthago delenda est!
Please balance the map. Tundra and snow is shit in comparison to plains.
You mean in comparison to plains and desert? Eastern Island even has extra hills and in total the difference is minimal, you can load the map and check it by yourself.
You can really tell the AI is stupid in Civ V when Poland is one of the first Civs to lose AND Carthage wins.
No Chill Carthage
i believed in Carthage and not for nothing
Is there any of these matches, where Germany does well? :( Never saw one. Great Video nonetheless.
I haven't seen one yet, but you can definitely check out no city challenge with German. It's pretty fun to watch

I had a good feeling about the Celts, but they lost first :(
That was epic
This is like advanture of daenerys targaryen. left island is essos right island is westeros :dd
It was always my question why in civ 5 some civs like japan sweden poland the houn and persia are always in every fights too strongs and for example spain austria england usa are always weak. That's a balance problem tho
It depends on the time period
Yeah the civs you mention that "dominate" are the ones with early /mid game unique units whereas the ones you said that lose are the ones with unique units that come in later game.
Also, some civs are also more army oriented then others. Huns are way more militaristic then e.g Korea.
Carthage must be destroyed.
Carthago Delenda est!
Why was the left island tundra? Isn’t that a clear disadvantage?
Left island?
Are you watching this through a mirror?
I think they balanced it by making the other island all desert?
Carthage destroys you!
Appandi Karim Was Here
In Civ 5 there are no unions/alliances, or is it a game setting for your Timelapse?
there are alliances in civ 5

Why no alliences/protectorates?
Probably disabled to force the ai to duke it out.
God, can the USA survive a war for once? Smh; US AI in his game is trash
