Of all my crushes from the 80s, she's definitely the biggest. Goonies, The Mosquito Coast, Running on Empty... I know she probably doesn't like talking about River Phoenix but they were such a cute couple and were amazing together on film.
Really, she must of known of it beforehand, as it is a classic and been on TV loads of times since then-and seeing DVD etc in shops etc! I remember as a little kid first seeing Michael Caine film Zulu from 1967 on TV, then it popping up in interviews and on Teletext etc
An outstanding actress…I remember falling for her when I saw her as Stef the tomboy in The Goonies, and she’s so brilliant and funny in Raising Hope And she’s still as cute as ever
I'm in my 60s. My kids hipped me to 'The Goonies' a long time ago. I still watch the movie till this day. Only now, it's with my grandchildren's children.😮
Martha so special so talented 🥰Thank you!!!You have a rare quality and these words are sincere love you since i was 10..i guess there is many of us!!!!Wish u all the best❤ a fan from Greece
@@boxingandbulldogs6341 She doesn’t like talking about the movie or “The Mosquito Coast,” because then, it causes questions and possibly discussing River. Most times, they are only interested in the dirty details which she says she doesn’t want to discuss as it makes her uncomfortable. Also, that it’s all they care about and it’s as if, everything she had said before went unsaid since they’d only care about what she had said about River. I believe if she was asked more genuine questions about him, she’d be more forthcoming and willing to answer. She has talked about him recently and in past times and gave really lovely responses.
@@riversphoenixs that makes sense what you said, but I've looked a few times and I can't find one thing that she said about him, either on UA-cam or somewhere else, maybe in print.
(See: 2:06) Her explanation that _The Goonies_ wasn't a theatrical hit, but gained its following on TV and VHS could apply to another beloved classic: _The Wizard of Oz._
She played in an episode of Family Ties as a teen from an orphanage caught shoplifting. Malory befriends her. Wanted to hear her take on her roles in Parenthood alongside Keanu Reeves and in the films Sam & Josh and 200 Cigarettes
How can they overlook her performance in "200 Cigarettes" Her role was hysterical, "You could stand there naked with a mattress strapped to your back and still look like a vestal virgin" HAHAHA!!!!
Martha Plimpton was born in Los Angeles on November 5, 1967. She was 17 years old when she had a breakout role of Stef Steinbrenner in “The Goonies” and had a relationship with the late River Phoenix, who was 3 years younger than her.
One of the best and underrated quirky actors in Hollywood 🙌

Goonies forever! I just introduced my 13 year old niece to it and she LOVED it. Said Plimpton's character was her favorite as well :)

I love Martha. A total triple threat. An absolutely beautiful lady x
Martha is so sweet, enjoyed her in River Rat, the Goonies and an episode of Law and Order SVU.
Great interview...Martha is so articulate and great sense of humour
Martha is still Stunningly Beautiful
I wonder if she'll ever talk about Running on Empty. If it's too painful for her I understand. She was amazing in that movie though.
Prolly tired of talking about it. At some point there’s not more you can say
She doesn’t like talking about it which is understandable like you mentioned as well.

She can always hold, her head high and say,I'm a goonie!!!
Feels like skipping Running on Empty was intentional.
Yeah that’s kind of expected
She doesn’t like talking about the movie.
@@riversphoenixs She don't talk about Bruno?

Martha is awesome.
She played in an episode of Family Ties as a teen from an orphanage caught shoplifting. Malory befriends her.

@@TimFrith24 Now you know
She was actually a month in a half younger than River Phoenix.
And her birthday is November 16th, not November 5th.
