Set up a savings account and have a stop order run from your main account that deposits 10% of your monthly allowance into that savings account, not for just interest purposes, but this will allow you to save money each month, it adds up to a lot. It's sounds simple but you're going to be happy at the end of each month. Save for about 12 months minimum and in that time, take some time to learn investments, see if you can grow this money. It's hard, but also control your expenses, so that you can comfortably save
goweditswe_m read George Clayson’s book, The Richest Man in Babylon. It is the finest financial advise which nobody wants you to know and I wish I read this book as a teenager. First principle is, A 10th of all you earn is yours to keep- including that R50 note which we tend to just gloss over and ignore. Then you must find productive use so that it multiplies- interest bearing account, reinvest into a cash generative business interest etc etc. The bottom line is that money makes money and not many people understand this. But one must be disciplined and patient. Good luck
I recently gave the same advice to my colleague who wanted to buy a car.He realised later that the car he wanted was not within his budget.I asked him to even do quotes for insurance and factor that into the monthly amount to spend. He could not survive even for one month after putting that money aside
i did that for my first car, i opened a fixed account, every month they deduct the agreed amount for 12 months and i was patient with it, until i got my first car. Now i wanna try for saving for a house cause i don't want loan from the bank.

Why not just save until you buy the Car cash, rather than saving and still take a loan from the bank that’s gon add interest? Anyway every situation is different.
Every situation is different man: Not everyone earn big cash in order to save R4500 a month. But have dreams to own a car mind you, some starts working at an age of 28/29 so saving for a car could take up to 10 years. The desire of owning a car is too strong when a person is young (23 years old to 28). So I definitely don' t see a problem with saving for a deposit then finance a car. As long you gonna manage the monthly installment and maintenance
I was scared of the monthly installment thing. Am always scared of owning a bank and being stuck for 60 months or so. I decided then to save my money and I just recently bought my car cash.
I remember back in 2010 I had a surplus of R3000 after my monthly expenses, so I decided it was a good idea to get myself a new car I mean I've been driving my first car for 10 years and it was a second-hand car so after a bit of shopping around and asking for discounts. The salesman at the dealership worked his magic and I got my brand new Polo R2700 per month I was overjoyed... 2 months on I started realising now I have a shortfall on my monthly spend of R2500 my New baby was driving me to debt valley! I never catered for the cost of running a car 😥😥😥
