- Rick and Sharma's 1971 Dodge Dart 470 Stroker is a great street/strip Mopar muscle car with a cool story. Read it here: bit.ly/1971Dar...
Rick first acquired this 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger in 2012, threw a 318 engine paired with a 727 TorqueFlite transmission in it and enjoyed the Mopar for few years. Unfortunately, going through a divorce, Rick had to let her go, but she found her way back home in 2017.
Rick and his new wife Sharma were huge Mopar fans and own quite a few nice examples. When the 1971 Dodge Dart came back in their possession they named it "Olive" and decided to take her to the 2017 Drag Week event. In less than a week Olive became a street legal 10-second car powered by a naturally aspirated 470 Stroker and a single stage of Nitrous "just in case"
Dressed with Promax heads and 1050 Holley Dominator carburetor, the 1971 Dodge Dart engine kicks in over 675 horsepower to the wheels. The power is sent through 727 trans reverse manual valve body paired with the 8 ¾ rear end that hosts a 391 full spool with Mosier Axles. While Rick enjoys Olive on the streets of Oklahoma, Sharma likes to take her to the race track.

It's bad ass. That's my thoughts.
Man it gets off the line sweet!
This Dodge means a Mopar power! Very powerful machine.
One of the baddest Darts around
This gives me hope to take my 71 dart back to street legal from a Super Stock car. Thank you!!
The Terminator looks badass as it is brother 💪 let’s do a story on it, what do you say?
Great motor combo for that A body. Awesome little Dart. Thanks for sharing it.
Thing is ridiculous n I like it
I would go back to a Mopar style wheel it will look great n sell quickly
Rick isn't trying to sell it. Him and the wife have quite a few Mopars, we featured his wife 1970 Cuda "Fiona" as well
Amazing how many women made men sell their cars in a divorce. Nice to see your true faithful love is back home.
Hell yeah!!! I had to sale my Harley and 71 short bed Chevy truck!! I got another Harley but no truck 😢
@@rayvolanos5319 At least good trucks are a dime a dozen these days. M.G.T.O.W. is even cheaper and stress free to boot after 28 years for me.
Bad boy!
Done proper
Street/strip beast 💪
MOPAR for life
Amen
super nice.
Glad you appreciate it. What about that build fascinates you?
@@HotAmericanCars im not a car tech guy, just great sound, great look, wicked burnouts and nice tunes... takes me back !
Shit that's basically the same car I'm building but an f4 green 70 dart swinger with a long rod 471 stroker.
Molnar rotating assembly & trickflow heads, no dominator yet but I'm still gathering up a few peices & money.
Rick and Sharma have some really cool Mopars. We will be featuring their Cuda soon. Would love to see your Dart too, when do you think it will be ready?
Sounds rowdy, what cam is in there?
Hey brother, I don't recall Rick telling me about the cam, but you can read the car full story on our website if you like to see more info on the build. Link in the video description.
ok i read back story, But what size Rim,it looks like 15x7 is only one that you have there, i run 15x8 5.5 BS, same tire but bfg
Rick never told us about the rims size, sorry brother
@@HotAmericanCars Thats okay i think I got enough info, The story was enough. Just saying and asking because not many stories on Dodge Darts 67-72 plus and tire fitment or results of racing Thanks again for sharing
nice
Street-strip beast
This thing sounds nasty
It was a great car. Sadly Rick recently told me he wrecked it 😬 Good news is he is building a Demon now 😎
what tire size?
All the info we got is in the article. LInk in the video description
@@HotAmericanCars The ’71 Dart would stay true to Mopar with a 727 trans but would upgrade to a reverse manual valve body paired to the 8 ¾ rear hosting a 391 full spool with Mosier Axles. The factory spacing would allow for a set of 255/60/15 ET Streets with no modifications except a set of CalTracs to help her hook at the track. Thanks
Those back tires are too small. Needs more sidewall and width.
That thing will smoke the tires you need to tub it and put a 4 link or cal tracks some huge tires so that thing will hook you could prob go 9s
It might use some better traction indeed, which I believe Rick is aware of. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Jeff
I would say ladder bars and narrowed rear by around 3 inches per side would get 10 inch rim under that along with 10.5 wide tread. no need to tb car Mopar is all about narrowed rear ends for larger tire there is 12 inches from fender lip to the Inside fender well
Prob low 10 second once it’s tuned properly
Definitely somewhere in this range, perhaps it will even dip into the 9's
We're you at comes on
Sorry?
The air cleaner coming through the hood is kinda gay. I'd put a Hemi Dart Hood on it before I'd do that.
I appreciate your thoughts, but at the end of the day it’s all about what makes the owner happy ;)
Lol, a cage, no real exhaust system, and 80s style old tech fenderwell headers.
iTs A sTrEeT cAr.
It's a cool car but it's definitely not a streetcar. It's a racecar with a plate.
Plates make it a street car ;) street cars are not necessarily daily drivers
@@HotAmericanCars thats because the term street car is nebulous in nature at best.
20 years ago me would agree with you but grown up me says that car, while streetable, is not a street car. a street car shouldnt need its exhaust swapped out just to make a pass. tires are one thing but swapping exhausts is another. on top of that, it has a spool out back. thats absolutely not a long term solution for a street car.
yeh i know it has a plate and is street legal, but its not a street car. its 100% a racecar with a plate, and thats ok.
i still like that its not perfect show quality, i think that makes it even cooler.
