I watched the 2016 coup attempt on CNN as it happened. I saw civilians taking great risks and soldiers unwilling to kill civilians. You never said he stuffed the ballot boxes. Things could have ended up like Libya or Syria. I still give Eragon credit for preventing chaos and maintaining a functioning government. I did learn a lot from the video. Good job.

@@juliasasha2029 So des ka? "In most cases, the term native language refers to the language that a person acquires in early childhood because it is spoken in the family and/or it is the language of the region where the child lives. Also known as a mother tongue, first language, or arterial language." My native language is English, I'm passable in Italian and studied Afrikaans for 6 years, I learned 300 words in Japanese but have forgotten most of them. Ichi, Ni, Sun, Shi, Go - I'm out... In studying Japanese I learned that the only phrase you need at a party is "so des ka" - which along with a knowing nod, means: "Is that so?".

As a secular non muslim person living in Turkiye i can clearly say that this video is full of mistakes, elegarion and made up statements. Don't get me wrong, i never supported what happened over the years and it effected our daily lives, but this contents is... just wrong.
If you want to see some islamic regimes, just make a middle east tour. In the daily lives in Turkey you will not be seeing this much of a radical movement. I see it only as it is a power play and usage of religion to hold the power. Even still, this won't be a dictatorship.
Not every child should be talking and making false statement with a wrong language and sloganish fishing sentences.

I was teaching English to university students in Istanbul when the "coup attempt" happened. Those were crazy days, and fascinating to experience as a student of geopolitics. To understand current Turkish society, you have to understand the literal PTSD Boomer and Generation X Turks have about the 1980s and 1990s when brutal military coups and political gang shootouts were happening on the streets everyday, and the bad memories most middle class semi-religious Turks have the 1% secular elites treating them like crap. Those were NOT the good old days, and nobody wants to go back to that. Better to stick with Erdogan, and I don't blame them.

On what basis do you think the secular segment is 1%?
Today, Erdogan has been ruling the country for 24 years. With the support he received from the West, he abolished the secular Republic. He established a small sultanate for himself, like the Arab emirates.
But establishing a new regime is not as easy as it seems. Turks know what a secular state is, it is not that easy to destroy it. The secular republic is ingrained in the culture of this society.
To change this, they are trying to dilute the Turkish population, which is why they accept more than 10 million refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and other countries without a democratic culture.
