Excellent footage, really enjoyed watching this. Thanks for sharing! Brings back great memories of when I had my visit. Do you know if Andy Watson is still the rail manager at the works?
Excellent footage Brings back memories of the class 20 50th anniversary gala at Barrow Hill in 2007, when several charters ran along this branch, featuring haulage from 20168. Can't believe it's 16 years ago already
Cheers matey and yes was a good day that unfortunately i wasn't filming back then but i have the pics :) how time flys ay i'm the bad end of 40 now and feeling it lol
I used to work the coal trains from various destinations and also the empties back whilst based at Warrington DB before retiring in 2015. The DB hoppers were in sets of 6 buffer ended so that they could be moved to and from the quarry
Aye i've got a few sets on here of the 6x coal hoppers been tripped over the viaduct and in Earles too, its still a fascinating place and i never tire of going there
Both there 20's are silenced yes barring 20309 which is normal and loud but is not aloud down the Branch unless they really have too! Its due to the neighbours been right next to the line thus they have to silence the loco's that trip the wagons to the Reception Sidings at Earles, when they have a full load behind them you can hear the thumping and whistle more in the cab
Great to see such a well used rail connected works in this day and age.
Thanks for letting us ride along with this working!
I live not far away from Hope and the shunter job at Earles is my dream job
Great video, thanks for being able to bring us some valuable railway track

I think its got a silencer on it as its definitely been quietened down! it don't sound like a chopper for sure!!!

Wow what cracking video you lucky guy. Was it my hearing or has that class 20 been re-engined. It sure didn't sound like an E.E to me.
It's got a different (and more substantial) silencer, which cuts out the whistling sound from the turbocharger
Thankyou buddy and yes fully silenced thou the grey one is more chirpy than the blue one under a heavy load
