When I was a teen my old man, not knowing anything about snowmobiles, bought a 1969 Olympic. It ran but didn't even have the power to climb a hill. With some momentum it would get partially up a hill and then come to a stop and start to roll backwards. I found that the head bolts were all really loose and the diaphragm in that weird carb had a pin hole in it. Turned out to be surprisingly powerful when running right, enough to rip apart the track. Handling was ridiculously bad with those skis so close together. You had to steer mainly by riding on one knee and throwing around your body.
Just started watching you guys ...and seen this video went pulled 67 doo 250 single ...thanks you guys kinda gave me the little kick in the ass and get the sleds out might get 3 rides a year but can't get it out of your blood...
Snowing out jst got done rebuilding the04 supersport 550 fan after three years can’t wait to ride her also got a new extra cooler for the 02 800 xcsp race sled but gotta wait for more snow for her… going to Home Depot for new pull rope right now jst got done watching the full video I love sled videos keep ‘em coming brother 😮😂😊
First sled was a ‘69 Olympic 320, was our family intro to snowmobiling in northern WI. Super dependable machine, could take 2 up adults while pulling a fiberglass dogsled with 3 kids! Put a ton of miles on that machine between touring and ice fishing, it was a workhorse. I think we paid $1,000 for the machine, sled and side by side trailer from Tomahawk Sports Center.
Great vid Pete! My 1st sled was a 69 Olympic 299 black dot, back when a 69 wasn't that old lol. The track tore out on my buddies parent's land about a 1/2 mile from the barn, so there she sat... Might still be there now 40 some years later lol
Love it guys!!! If I could get it to you I have a 1991 Yamaha Phazer in decent shape that needs steering and carb work, but runs. Love to see a video of you guys fixin her up!!!! Keep Rockin!!!!
Had one of those 399 Olympic as a kid to ride My Dad bought 1972 model , same as that but black stripes in the vent area , This was a fun video , Well Bought Billy 😎👍🍺🇨🇦🇺🇸
Nice video guys! I still have my 75 tnt with the 340 that's the sister to that one, very similar. I've had it since probably the late 80s sometime, has gone through many a metamorphosis! On several occasions it's sat for many a year. Two seasons ago I pulled it out of the shed and revived her once again. Has always surprised me that it always has spark. Think it has duel points if I remember correctly. I've always had a problem finding a carb kit that matches the tillotson inlet needle, seat, and lever. The aftermarket ones I've found just don't have the quality. Any suggestions on a source? The cat design seems ions ahead of the doo for it's time.
The Apex there at cat shack could be a great build. Throw a turbo on it set up for radar be very interesting. As always enjoyed watching silver bullet lol😅 good stuff. Thanks
Would love spending a day or 2 at that place putting some parts together. Make a sled to putt around the yard. Biggest used sled parts place I ever saw.
@rednecksdirtyhands dude when I was a kid our local junk yard had rare mustangs, cameros, etc etc. A guy like me or you could have made some serious cars and trucks with all those parts. There was acres of old s a yard body GM trucks. Acres of old dodges. Fords are picky. Shit gotta match. The old gm or dodges you could swap parts like crazy. Shit bolts right in.
HS and ES are two completely different style plugs. ES = extended shaft. Hs is something I use in my high hp 2t scooter engines and ES in sleds/boats/dirt bike etc..
I had the same sled back in 1984. Don't use those cheap screw-on fuel filters. The o-rings are junk and dry out prematurely. Then it won't pull fuel due to air leak.
My dad had an Olympic 399. You needed several extra hands. 2 to pull, ( old T Handle style handle) 1 for choke and a 5th one for the brake. That damn thing WOULD take off with or without you.
I'd love to have some of your merchandise unfortunately I'm on a fixed income and can't afford any and I doubt anyone around where I live have heard of u guys I have shown some of my friends you're videos and they loved them
Hey guys do you think you're loosing power on the sled with an intercooler? The passes sound like the engine is choking on the top end, could it be cooling too much and forming moisture droplets in the cooler and causing a misfire?? The air was high moisture to begin with and compressing down with boost then super cooling the charge air.... moisture droplets... it's also only at the top end of the runs when the cooler is more efficient. If you data log it it may have misfires. I bet on a cold clear day you'll grab 2-3mph more or try no intercooler if you can monitor intake temps. Just spitballing here fellas.
That's old school trip cut the rodeo put a screwdriver in it stick it in a vise and bend the screwdriver so it don't fall out you get a little bit of extra leverage
Was really hoping you would get that ring gear out of there before it eats the shaft thru.but i understand time constraints and perhaps you was concerned you might be opening a can of worms, better left closed so i get!!still its gotta bug u as well i would think anyhow have a beer u fellas hit a ringer on that 30.00 bucks.snooky pa😊😊
You would have a much better chance of winning if you leave all those keys you have on your belt loop in the truck, it would greatly reduce the rider weight.

Last year I bought a 1970 oli. I was looking for a 71. You found it! 😂
Got my 1990 440 prowler running yesterday. She’s a dangler boys
Nice One! 🍻
“The Art of The Deal” well bought!
I wish there was a cat shack here. Even the dealers don’t have any old sleds for parts
Oil in the chaincase should be 30W. It has to flow over to the bearing on the other side.
I've been playing with these since the mid 70's.
Peterborough cycle n salvage boys!!!!! Rockn a rollin bubzies jeah!!!!!
I had a 1973 340 as kid in the early nineties, that old girl was a good machine had lots of fun.
I like D Ron’s idea get the chain saw out ! ☃️👍👍
Runner runner chicken supper, excellent work fellas as always!

I really hope you guys restore the old sled and drive it a the classic sled shows
Nice one boys. She's mint 😊

At least you don't have to worry about the famous ski-doo 5,000 mile pop 🎉🎉🎉
Love it guys!!! If I could get it to you I have a 1991 Yamaha Phazer in decent shape that needs steering and carb work, but runs. Love to see a video of you guys fixin her up!!!! Keep Rockin!!!!
Another great video Pete, keep up the good work! Cheers!🍻
Thank you! Cheers!🍻
Pete you forgot one thing. She needs a "She Dangles" sticker on it. I saw some air under the skis when you punched it down the driveway.
haha yeah it did a little Dangle there eh! 🤣🍻
Nice Camera Work Jim and Christine!
Happy thanksgiving Pete and crew
happy Thanksgiving 🍻
Pete
Great job you & your crew did 👍👍 We had Ski Doo’s in the 70’s
Reminds me why we started buying Yamaha’s
haha thanks! 🍻
My first sled was 88 jag 340. Decent sled, all original, held up for years pinning it 50mph for many miles. Finally blew a piston at like 2k miles
The owner is probally the coolest uncle /dad ever if ur into sbowmobile😅
Good idea with the wax. Usually works for me.
yeah I've had luck with it in the past but not this time 🍻
Making UA-cam great again cheers 🍻
Thanks for watching!🍻
Have a 80 trail cat with same motor as the jag, she’s fun for the kids!
Getting it running is like participating in the olympics. 😆🍻
haha 🍻
Seeing them limited edition fighter cat decals on the old arctic cat you got the gas cap from makes me sad lol
Great video Pete like usually cheers
thank you! I appreciate it 🍻
Cheer from Peterborough as well
cheers 🍻
Great job! You're more talented than you realize
Thank you! Cheers!🍻
Absolutely amazing. You guys need to get in touch with STV and have this on the show. That’s what it’s all about. Nice One!!
cheers 🍻
Had one of those 399 Olympic as a kid to ride My Dad bought 1972 model , same as that but black stripes in the vent area , This was a fun video , Well Bought Billy 😎👍🍺🇨🇦🇺🇸

Ski-doo did have sliders in 71 but it was a spit slider hinged in the centre
Great deal, nice find.
thanks 🍻
Damn! Believe it or not I had an 1971 Olympic 399 and I also had a 1978 Artic Cat jag 3000. Free Air 340 just like those 2 sleds! Memories!!! 😊
Nice One! 🍻
Nothing worse is snow mobile breaking down that’s why I like a new one. Old junk is old junk.😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great job on finding parts. You guys and gals have so much fun times
Thank you 🍻
Got the same sled last year put a set of C&a skis on it lol 😂 and advanced the timing a bit for more power
Well done lad she a beauty nice one.😎👍🇨🇦
The Apex there at cat shack could be a great build. Throw a turbo on it set up for radar be very interesting.
As always enjoyed watching silver bullet lol😅
good stuff.
Thanks
haha it would be a good project eh...🤔🍻
I use 50/50 mix of acetone and red atf as a release agent for stubborn rusty crusty seized components.
I'll have to try that out, thanks for the tip! 🍻
Would love spending a day or 2 at that place putting some parts together. Make a sled to putt around the yard. Biggest used sled parts place I ever saw.
it is a cool place to check out for all kinds of parts! 🍻

Lovin the revival video! Love the flywheel free spinning! Nice one!
Thank you! 🍻
Nice one
Nice one! 🍻
Good job guys 30 dollars no holler yee haaaa !
HS and ES are two completely different style plugs. ES = extended shaft. Hs is something I use in my high hp 2t scooter engines and ES in sleds/boats/dirt bike etc..
The Olympic looks like a 399 Ski Doo Nordic.
The Nordic had a different hood. It didn’t have the 2 vents on the hood. Nordic also had a 18” track
Ah, yes. You are correct.
I had the same sled back in 1984. Don't use those cheap screw-on fuel filters. The o-rings are junk and dry out prematurely. Then it won't pull fuel due to air leak.
Nice exhaust clamps on the jag lol

lol yeah I've seen one or two bugger off on there own without a rider on them! 🤣🍻
WE GOT SNOWWWWWWWWWWWWW 🤪
Ahh not so bad! Got 3ft of snow over night! 50-100cm more by Sunday

Can’t believe I watched this video 🤪
haha well thanks for watching 🤣🍻
First one to comment, keep up the great vids. Looking forward to this vid.
haha Nice One! thanks for the support!! cheers 🍻
Bravo would take that down no problem. The jag too.
Those free air Jags don't like warm weather, but people rum em as if they had fans.
They are not worth foolin with
NO FAIR. GOTTA WATCH VID FIRST. LOL😂
Cant go wrong for 30 bucks
71 eh!? I was born in 71!😂
I'd love to have some of your merchandise unfortunately I'm on a fixed income and can't afford any and I doubt anyone around where I live have heard of u guys I have shown some of my friends you're videos and they loved them
The only thing that’s going dangling is the parts falling off.😂😂😂.

Laughing only because i grew up riding these and broke down many many times
Looks like a 275cc engine. Just like my 78 lynx
I just saw you guys on STV. Did you guys buy the Massey Ferguson too??
haha Nice One! no we just bought the Olympic 🍻
How’s the drive bearing on the Doo?
That's old school trip cut the rodeo put a screwdriver in it stick it in a vise and bend the screwdriver so it don't fall out you get a little bit of extra leverage
Get yerself a can of
“Hope N Pray Spray”
That stuff fixes everything.
No need to cross yer fingers.
Nice One! 🍻
Was really hoping you would get that ring gear out of there before it eats the shaft thru.but i understand time constraints and perhaps you was concerned you might be opening a can of worms, better left closed so i get!!still its gotta bug u as well i would think anyhow have a beer u fellas hit a ringer on that 30.00 bucks.snooky pa😊😊
thanks buddy! yeah might get the ring gear off later but for now I kind of like how it sounds like the turbo spinning lmao 🤣🍻
A dream machine in 1971 i was 12 year. I think the price was about 350 us dollar?
Where’s the water skip? 😆
haha thought about it...🤣🍻
It was definitely bogies when it was new ….unless you got a “special prototype”
get some 60-10 and crank up a stick welder to gouge that ring gear in half and remove
Stuck ring in Remingtons?
yeah it probably is...we've got new gaskets and crank seals coming anyway for it so we'll pull it apart and get up and Danglin soon! 🍻
It's not fixed, but it's different.
Could direct you to a fellow who has probably 100 old Ski-Doo’s out of sight but won’t divulge location publicly.
Take the freaking gear off the clutch lmao
lol 🤣🍻
Who's the gentleman sitting on the Jag?
that's my father in-law Rick 🍻
Score some stuff down that low compression cylinder maybe the Rings are just stuck
yeah I think they are..we will pull it apart anyway here soon and see if we can get her Danglin 🍻
You would have a much better chance of winning if you leave all those keys you have on your belt loop in the truck, it would greatly reduce the rider weight.
haha yeah you're probably right! 🤣🍻
The low seat makes you feel like it has ape hangers when riding.
You forgot the look better stickers
Lol
HAHAHA
