- This highly under-aprreciated gem was released in 1979 to little fanfare. With a wonderful score by Jimmy Webb and songs performed by Burton Cummings(lead singer of "The Guess Who"), this film is a true delight. Amy Irving ("Carrie", "The Competition") and Michael Ontkean ("The Rookies", "Making Love", "Slapshot"), star in this heartwoarming film about a singer who falls for a deaf woman who feels that if she loves stays with him, he will never be fulfilled because of her disability. His is a world of music, she lives in a world without sound. Beautiful night shot of the Twin Towers in Mahattan appears in this this clip. I hope you enjoy this tribute and can relive the magic of this rare and wonderful film.

Hard to believe 40 years has passed since this film came out. I saw it when I was in the hospital. Totally bawled my eyes out. Still love the theme song to this very day.

One of the best love stories I saw in my College days in Cebu. The theme song "I Will Always Wait For You" evokes happy and bittersweet memories of those innocent times. Still makes me teary-eyed each time I hear it. And yes, I can sing it as if there's no tomorrow.

I saw this in the theater, went back over & over, it's that good. Michael Ontkean was the draw, but Burton Cummings & Andrew & David Williams songs, for me, made the film even better. Jimmy Webb wrote the score, with the exception of the Willie Nelson cover of Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys song, Bubbles In My Beer, heard briefly in the bar where Drew's band plays. I looked forever for the album & then got the video, now also have the CD & DVD. My only wish is that Michael Ontkean were still a working actor. Thank you, MomentByMoment78!
Fabulous to see this again, why don't they release this on DVD and make a cd of the music. I have it on record and video and won't part with them!
I feel same way took me long time to get the video. I got the album when it first came out.. I was lucky to get the promo copy.. They have not put it on DVD because its no longer in circulation is what I was told. Maybe if enough of us talk to MGM they will put it back into circulation. I think they would be surprised at how many they sell today, I love this movie an will not part with my movie or LP either.

i saw this film when i was seventeen and loved it. i saw it on turner classics i think and have tried to find it since. brilliantly acted and a great love story that very few know about. unless you stumbled upon this film while flipping a channel you wouldn't know about it. the ones that did are lucky. great film, highly recommended!!!
I loved this movie from the first time I saw it. Got the album as soon as it came out. took forever for me to find the movie tho..I watch the movie an think how great this movie is, yet sad that they dont have it on DVD or the movie never got a larger audience than it did. I'll never part with my movie or record tho.. thank you for posting it..
