Deer Hunting/Crossbow Hunting - Meat On The Ground
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 лис 2022
- Decided to take a doe after waiting a couple of weeks into the 2022 bow season. The shot was a little far forward into the shoulder. I found the deer before I found a blood trail. After finding the deer I back tracked the blood trail. She ran closer along the creek bank than I originally thought but still didn't start bleeding until about halfway to where she went down.

That music though, got them deers relaxed as well. 😂
😂 Thanks for watching
Good advice... good hunt and back tracking, I've done that....
cool video, loved the slow mo action
Thank you
Nice shot. Every time I see someone shoot a deer with a crossbow I'm reminded just how powerful they are. That arrow blew through that deer and skipped a mile. But you made a perfect shot. Good job!
Thanks! Wish I had placed the shot a little further back, but I got the job done
I shot a big doe once. A downward angle shot. Hit both lungs but a plug of fat stopped blood from coming out of the exit and the entrance was high. Luckily, she ran into a cornfield that made a grid search easy. She went about 80 yds.
Yeap. We're bound to see some strange stuff if we hunt long enough
Awesome thanks ❤.
Thank you for watching!
Great shot , awesome tracking job , and never quitting till ya found it. Keep the hunting videos coming you are doing awesome! Hope ya take a crack at getn an ol long beard this year.
Thank you. I really would like to get a turkey. We have lots of them. I hate that our woods are usually real wet that time of year
Watching from the UP. Excellent stuff. Great music. Keep it up my brother of the bow
Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it. 👍
Not sure I know where UP is
@@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES the up is upper michigan that is were i live as well
@troybizeau5979 oh ok. Cool. Thanks for checking me out! 👍
Congratulations on the hunt and getting it on video to bring us along with you thanks for sharing
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate it
Good hunt! Great advise on broadhead sacrifice. Balancing the broadhead bolt first helps too.
Thanks for watching 👍.
I have mine balanced a bit forward of the center
Nice hunt your right you have to shoot the broad head that your going to use before you hunt there is a difference. Good luck this year and good video
Thank you for watching! 👍
Pretty deer. Just shows how far they can go without leaving much blood despite it being a descent hit. Congrats.
Thank you! 👍
I had the same experience as you with the muzzy trocar hbx, shot a nice doe with a good shot placement and hardly any blood trail. But my head didn't open so there wasn't a big wound channel. Finally found the deer about 150 yards away. I switched to afflictor fixed broadheads for 2023 season. Congrats on the deer, great video.
Thanks for watching! Sorry I'm just now replying. Sometimes a comment will get by me. I've had good luck with these broadheads but I usually shoot a little further behind the shoulder. Hopefully I can get more hunting footage in the future. It's tough trying to self film these hunts.
GOOD QUALITY VIDEO! GOOD HUNT!
Thank you 👍
Great hunt, reminds me of my dad's place and when I started hunting.
Thank you 👍
Great video bro🎉
Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Congrats bud, good shot. Be blessed
Thanks 👍
That’s a great shot !!! Great job !!! 🙋♂️👍👍👍
Thank you 👍
@@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES your welcome anytime !!! Thanks for sharing that great hunt !!! 🙋♂️👍👍👍
That's groceries dude! WTG!
Thanks for watching!
Your video quality is good, TV quality in my opinion. I was hoping you would backtrack the blood trail because I’ve had similar scenarios and I always backtrack to see if I missed the blood trail starting point. I enjoyed your video
Thank you! I really appreciate it. I definitely started my tracking wrong. I just needed to stay along the creek bank. I'm glad you enjoyed the video
Sweet. Good eats
Thanks for watching!
Great shot! Congrats on the harvest and getting meat in the freezer.
Thanks for watching 👍
you remind me of me! my experience with mechanicals is that they most often kill a deer dead if good penetration.....arrow rarely doesn't pass through with any modern x-bow. issue is they also almost never leave good blood trails until you find the deer by sight...not by the blood trail itself. evening shots are always iffy on finding deer under these circumstances with surrounding cover, terrain and bad lighting to visually locate where the deer went after being hit. would be nice to use a big fixed blade head with crossbows, but doing that has so many other drawbacks on tuning, accuracy, scope settings, passing through every broad head target known to man, etc. love the you show normal hunting...the way it actually is!! keep up being real!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. I'm just an average small town guy that loves to share the experiences.
Nice doe! I’m a fan of hybrid broadheads myself.
Thanks! 👍
Nice video Bossman!!
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching 👍
Good stuff man! Yeah we've all had them type of track jobs. My wife shot one perfect right behind the shoulder double lung through. That deer dropped two specks of blood right there. The deer may have went 15 yards over a small hill. There she lay blood everywhere. I hit a buck with my crossbow, same think for 30 yards. No blood. Right at about 30 yards, a blood trail began, There he lay at 50 yards. Good stuff!! Good hunt!
Thanks! It's crazy what they do sometimes
Shout out from Ohio buddy
Thanks for watching! 👍
Great job 👌 own harvesting that deer🦌
Thank you 👍
Crazy things that happens when it comes to crossbows i use grim reapers 2 inch cut 3 blade and swackers 2 inch cut are good too and i also use bloodsport fixed blade with 2 inch mechanical broad head is what i got my 9 point on my profile with dropped him at 20 yards
Thanks for watching! The young 8 point I shot with the crossbow this year probably ran about 40 yards
Sometimes fat will plug the hole for a short distance. Good hunt
Thanks 👍
Nice shot you can never control blood trails.
Thanks for watching 👍
Blood trails are heavily dependent on where ya hit. But we shoot to kill not for blood, looked like a perfect shot to me! Congrats on the harvest!
Thank you! I see the doe reacted right before getting hit too. So maybe that played a part in it also.
@@SOUTHERNLIFETIMESnice cross bow who makes it and awesome shot. Congrats.
@anthonykontos7931 Thanks! It's a Carbon Express crossbow paired with an ATN 3x14 Buckhunter scope, but carbon express was bought out by someone. If I had to buy another one, I'd go with a Centerpoint.
@@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES I have the cx2 and can’t find limbs for it anywhere. Found the cams but want to replace them.
Good shot man. I've considered those Muzzy trocar hybrid heads. I've heard good things about them. Another head you should try is the SEVR's. They fly as good as anything I've seen from my crossbow.
Thank you. I love the hybrids. I'll have check out those other heads you mentioned.
I tell everyone to use lighted nocks it helps a ton
Thanks for watching! I guess I should go ahead and invest in those
Reason front shoulder shot be careful had to learn the hard way its a no dead zone up there good hunting tho my brother
Thanks for watching! I definitely should've went a few inches back
@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES your welcome big deer hunter myself north Louisiana about a hour from Arkansas state line stay up bro
Cool 🇧🇷🤜🤛🇺🇲
Thanks👍
I think if you had used a compound bow, you may have had a harder recovery since it seems like you hit the scapula. Great harvest man!! Congrats
Thanks!👍
He definitely hit below the shoulder. You can see the arrow fly out the other side. I’d say it was perfect.
Switch to Swhacker broadheads, bro! Better blood trail when you shoot a well placed shot like that.
Thanks for watching! I went a little to far forward and hit part of the shoulder. There was a blood trail but it started some yards away
Do try swhacker fixed or mechanical or one of the magnus heads they put deer down fast for me never had to go more than 40 yards to find my deer with those
I usually don't have any problems. This shot was a bit too far forward into the shoulder. Thanks for watching
@@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES ok use what works for you👍. My experience with the hbx has not been good two deer shot zero recovery and that’s with tracking dog very little blood but everybody has different experiences if it works don’t fix it all the luck this year👍🤞
@@aldev2548 Thanks. I'll probably try something different once I use all the broadheads I have now
Beautiful shot. Nice video. What scope are you using?
Thank you! It's the ATN 4k Buckhunter 3x14
Grim Reaper Broad Heads for cross bow gives a practice Broad Head, just doesn't deploy
Thanks for watching
💯💯👍🏿👍🏿👏🏾👏🏾
Nice shot, time to fill the freezer
Yes sir! Thanks 👍
@@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES sure thing
What kind of scope do you have on your crossbow? Thanks in advance.
ATN 4K Buckhunter 3x14.
Thanks for watching
Also what kind of scope are you using?
It's the ATN 4K Buckhunter. Same as the ATN 4K Pro but no night vision capability. It also records. That's mainly why I bought it. Thanks for watching!
great shot. What scope and crossbow do you use?
Thanks! The crossbow is a Carbon Express Piledriver 390. The scope is the ATN 4k Buckhunter. Carbon Express was bought out by another company
Thanks. Any vid of your vids you recommend from this season?@@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES
Is that a thermal scope ? Atn?
It's the ATN 4k Buckhunter scope.
Same as the 4k pro but it lacks any night vision capabilites. This model was discontinued but can still be found online. I like it for capturing the shots also. Comes in handy when I can't get the camcorder angle right
Man all I can say is congratulations on finally being able to get a deer with your crossbow but you know I don't like the idea that you down talking crossbows like they're not that good when it was all user error that caused all your problems you need to check abroad head to make sure it's flying right out of your crossbow before you go into the woods and you need to make sure everything is tight on your crossbow including the scope before you go into the woods there was nothing wrong with your crossbow it was just not looking at your stuff before you go into the woods with it you got to make sure everything's right before you go in but congratulations on the deer I'm glad you finally got it all together
Thanks but I'm not sure if you listened to everything I mentioned or not. I'm a crossbow guy. I was just simply telling people they should sacrifice a couple of their broadheads to see how it flies out of their bow. I do that before going out every season. None of the broadheads I've used fly exactly like the field points. So I sacrifice 1 or 2 broadheads to fine tune the bow to the broadheads. Some people zero to their field points & that's it. As for the deer in this video... the shot was a little far forward into the shoulder. That's where I aimed though. I've shot many deer with that crossbow that's just my 2nd time recording it. Thanks for watching!
Just subsribed to your channel Bro. Congrats on your doe.
@@RK-nr8qf Thanks! I appreciate it 👍
@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES you know they make broadhead targets right? You don't have to sacrifice any.
I've tried those, but they work better with fixed broadheads. I use a hybrid broadhead
Nothing worse than those red colored leafs when trying to track.. lol😅
Yeap. They will definitely fool ya lol
What scope is that? Congrats on the freezer filler
Thanks! That's the ATN 4k Buckhunter 3x14. Same features as the ATN 4K Pro but no night vision capability
Yup it’s on Amazon. Thanks sir
@@groundrootsoutdoors627 you're welcome
@@groundrootsoutdoors627 Nice! I'm new to hunting, just bought a crossbow, you gave some excellent advice. Hope you'll do a deer cleaning video in the near future 🏹
@@jarvishenry5024 I can do that but gotta bag another deer. Lol
the only thing i am still nervous about, after harvesting 3 deer so far - - is always field dressing, partiularly the anus and bladder sacs make me nervous
I haul mine out on atv and hang em up. Thanks for watching 👍
Shwacker gives u a practice broadhead
I've seen a package like that. Can't remember if it was Shwacker but does it fly like the actual broadhead?
Thanks for watching!
@@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES mine does. They are built and weigh exactly the same. The practice broadhead just can’t deploy on impact
@@davidwatkins6687 ok. That probably would be better than a blade-less field point vs a broadhead
Well my 1st year but I did some research. Death by bungee did some reviews and ended up with those.
I like your videos
What state
Arkansas
@@SOUTHERNLIFETIMES good deer state
@@jasonnester9514 we don't have a lot of monster bucks but we definitely have plenty of deer

Is that a rocky mountain crossbow
It's a Carbon Express Piledriver 390. Carbon Express was bought out by another company though
