you can put a shelf in your bunk use the bolt off the upper bunk and your upper vent window (no hose needed) a/c sits up there all summer with room for a 43 in tv on a swivel mount Tv lays face down on bed when moving. system has worked good for 5 years my gen is 1800 watt with a 2500 btu ac cools the bunk down nicely (curtain closed) even in heavy humidity

I have same setup did the generator behind the cab but woke up by my carbon monoxide alarm and also woke up with a big headache because of the fumes so the next day I ran a longer extension power cord and I put my
Generator way back underneath the trailer and chain it to the back bumper and all is good now

I remember a bunch of old raggedy trucks having similar setups, some even mounting 15k btu ac on the back of the cab and people would make fun of it cause it was just ghetto. I mean I say of it works it ain't stupid, and I'm sure you can cool down a lot with that setup

Ok I roll the cooler in the pass. seat old school as well. My thing is this, why don't at least one of the manufactures get smart and corner the market by putting the damn vent on the opposite side so its toward the dash when it opens facing you....stay cool brother.

My Honda generator says to change the spark plug every 100 hours which has kept it in the Box with a closed quart of oil in the Box waiting for the big emergency. Similar to you I have bought a heat pump that runs off my solar panels for cheap Heat spring and fall. Air conditioning in Alaska is an additional Plus. My oil stove only uses less than 200 Watts when it's running so the 1000 watt inverter battery backup got me through last Winter's big power outage and storm. This is a good idea to drown out the noise while you're trying to sleep when there is not a place to plug in. I wonder if this is more efficient than the engine air conditioner up when you're at highway speed.

I got the battery apu aka optimized idle on my 2022 it sucks ass. I’ve had it a full year now it starts and stops the engine at 9 rpm more than it should during a 10hr break. I’m lucky I have windows on both sides of the bunk with fans in them that work well if I drive until sundown but during the day the battery apu is garbage might as well idle the truck when the sun is up.

I hate the loud lawnmower Apu’s. I’m not sure how loud the green Apu’s are but sadly I’m prolly going to get a setup like in the video. The dual hoses works like this. 1 hose is for removing hot air and 1 is for air intake. I have a dual hose battery powered air conditioner from zero breeze. Being in a truck stop you're going to be sucking in hot air from the parking lot. I don't want to do that. That's why I used the single hose.
