  • My brother in law has been using these uniseal to attach his aquaponics tanks together. They work great for getting a pipe into a tank.

You can put a 1-1/4" deep hole saw inside a 2" shallow hole saw. You mount two hole saws on the same arbor. The 1-1/4" deep hole saw serves as a guide for the larger hole saw.

Nice hack saw and it definitely deserves to be in every plumbers tool box. 👌

I would have suggested using a punch kit for making the new hole. I know you may not have had it but it would have been the best tool. Thank you for the video. I haven't used a uniseal before and I'm going to have to try it now. I won't be able to use detergent water as it would contaminate the water for the fish and plants.

To make bigger whole you need to use 2 whole thing inserted. One which matches the current whole and one which is new. Never do manually as otherwise you're in trouble to do this manually. The other thing I believe that things should be inserted from inside as water pressure my push it out.

How did you get the hole to be so smooth?

I will certainly look out for these if I need to do it again in the future ( I had to fit pipes into my header tank I use in the stream with the ram pump ) It looked like quite a hard job you had though enlarging the hole, using a hole saw to make a first hole would have taken moments

These things are amazing! Tight fit and with a hole saw they can be installed in less than 5 min. In a tiny house video I use these and I install 2 of them really fast with the right hole saw. I can see that ram pumps will be very much benefitted from these. header tanks and storage tanks both. .... If you buy one remember to get them through my amazon store so I can get 4% back haha.

@@LandtoHousehi! you didn't put any adhesive to bind the uniseal to the drum?

I did. I used this one for a year or so. I now have two more on my hill that I used the correct size hole saw. The uniseal product is great!

JB weld is for metal only. You should use silicone to seal things with water.

We use a similar item for lighting on airfields...

    • @LandtoHouse

That is interesting. How does that work?

Same basically as these. We call them grommets, it's what they are, yours too. Ours are simpler. We use galvanized steel cans for junction boxes in the ground/concrete/pavement, sometimes stainless. Mostly 12 inches in diameter, followed by 16 inch, and rarely 24 inch. Any bigger and we'll likely put in a hand hole/manhole.
We can get them with holes punched pretty much where we need them, or with welded on threaded hubs, but generally we're going to have to add a pipe or the direction/location will be a bit off and it's easy and quick to drill another hole and put a grommet in. But we don't really expect a water tight seal either. It's one thing to keep water IN. Keeping it out is another thing altogether lol. Even with the piping and cans completely encased we can't keep the water out.

So these are the iconic lights on the air strip? I had not thought about how they were constructed but I guess it makes sense to have a similar setup.

I will be looking for some of these. Ha Ha I used the JB Weld just like you did with the same results. ;-)

Yes that JB was disappointing. Haha these really work though. I placed several sizes in my amazon store in the video description when you get ready to buy. :)

Drill a 2x4 then strap it to the outside of the barrel to use as a jig. Duh!
