I'm always wary of using a headlamp early in the morning. I like to feel like I ascended to my hunting height with a clean slate for the morning. Probably the reason I hunt more in the evening b4 I switch things up in a spot & hunt the AM.
I use a red or green headlamp. Asinine to ascend/descend a tree in the dark not safe and those lights don't bother deer. Have also used regular light the noise is what bothers deer more
I usually get into the woods super early and take my time getting to where I want to hunt and will typically start setting up as a I can start to barely see. Not enough light to hunt, but enough light to move slow up the tree and see what I’m holding. That way I don’t mess with my “night vision.” The less light exposure to your eyes the darker of light you can actually see in.
Where I find these steps interesting, I have to admit I have stuck with and settled with hunting beast sticks. Reading the comments people seem to comment on the lack of grips to diverse tree hardness. Sounds like that should be the next video. A video showing use on diverse tree. Species, and winter and wet and dry trees. But interesting video regardless.
Lady is great! Thanks for the show! Show must go on, product should be sold. If you need 2 feet support - way to go :-) but it is not for everyone. I bought mine years ago - ok with them (like climbing time to time). Not my preferred method still. We are hunting, climbing is a tool and this one VERY depends on your skills and tree quality :-) right...
I love the technique. Don't know why I was thinking these would be set up in a staggered configuration (which I don't like) instead of the ladder form (which I love).
They're super versatile, can also be used as a platform or gear hang. I like to climb straight up and down like a ladder because there isn't any guessing. Makes climbing in the dark a breeze.
I always ask "What about when wearing winter clothes?" or "Ok, how about a demo in winter gear when it's 10 degrees? And then climbing back down 5 hours later.".... Now THAT would be a good one. Do it live. No edits.
What exactly would you be looking to see? As you set up you would need to keep that all in mind, and space your steps accordingly to what you’re comfortable with. I have seen a video of a guy making it to 30 ft with 4 lwcg full length sticks no cable aiders. Dude is a tree ninja lol. I’d never do that because I’m not comfortable with that method. So using something and learning how it will best suit you.
She explains the blind fold… “people asked how can you set up in the dark? And you can’t film in the dark so that’s what they did…” And not using a climber because of weight I suppose? Those steps and a saddle is much lighter than a climber.
I would have watched more but the music was annoying. People using these can sit up a tree in silence for 8 hours or more but need music on a short video?
Looking good girl.. I really enjoyed your part...
People actually ask those questions? I use this thing called a headlamp.
That would make too much sense!

Lydia is bad ass!

Works great until you step up and bonk your head on a limb.
You forget to tell people that these steps only work on smooth bark trees like the one in the video. They fucking suck for any other tree.
And that's how it's done
Use a climber on that tree. And whats with a blindfold?

Thanks for your critique, Bill.
