That's true Langston Hughes was the leader of the Harlem Renaissance but nobody ever talks about the person who really was responsible for giving birth to the Harlem Renaissance. I'm talking about philosopher and educator Alain Locke. Who is the acknowledged dean of the Harlem Renaissance. His publication of the New Negro that started the Harlem Renaissance.

Excellent video! Really concise expression of the breadth of the Harlem Renaissance. Your video editing skills are also really good - I can see this channel getting launched into the UA-cam stratosphere.
Thanks so much for this intriguing overview of artists and writers of the Harlem Renaissance! My students really learned a lot and liked it, too. Looking forward to more of your great videos!
The Harlem Renaissance may have ended as a distinct chapter in history, but the cultural importance of African-Americans only increased, both at home and globally. That ‘movement’ continues to this day, which is perhaps the most exciting aspect of the story.

Great Video! I was surprised to not see The Duke on the list, but I suppose it was more focused on the visual arts.
