As a German, not knowing Verpoorten eggnog is strange. 5:36 - Someone should tell Janusz that in Germany there is an expiration date on every food item.
The funniest thing for me is that the two German presenters apparently don't know most of these things either. If you don't like fish, of course all the fish things are "gross". But I love fried herring with fried potatoes! And the pork bacon, chopped into small pieces and fried well in the pan, is great in scrambled eggs or fried potatoes. It's basically like the savory fat from bacon. And in Germany there is not only mold cheese with blue mold (Roquefort, Bavaria Blue etc.), but also every Brie or Camembert is mold cheese (with white mold). And a greeting to Egypt: we don't have cheese with worms, but we do have mites. But then they're no longer alive. I admit, even though I'm a real cheese fan, I haven't dared to try it yet.
mite cheese is very delicious, and the major problem is only inside the people's heads. My grandfather made mite cheese and I made it too, a couple of years. Unfortunately my mite box is no longer alive, and until now I dindn't found someone who can share something with me.
Well fried pieces of smoked "speck" is delicious, mashed with a stew of potatoes and raw endive. Make a little hole in the stew on your plate, and fill it with gravy and add a smoked sausage. It is a Dutch traditional dish. There are several variations. Replace for example the endive with for example with Kale or; carrots and onions or; sauerkraut or apples and onions; except the endive all vegetables are cooked together with the potato. The speck pieces and smoked sausage van be replaced by any other kind of speck; speckfilet; goulash; other sausages; ham; meatballs.
Pfeffi is not actually mouthwash. It just tastes minty. But people actually do sometimes use instead of brushing their teeth after party or maybe on festivals and similar occasions.
@@Anson_AKB Since when does Dr. Pepper taste minty? I absolutely don't think it tastes like peppermint. Does it in the U.S.? Definitely not in Germany.
@@vomm misunderstanding: with "taste like mouthwash" i didn't mean some "fresh peppermint" (breath refresher) taste, but "medical herbal" (cough medicine, etc) taste
Egg Liqueur is actually pretty tasty. But its more of an "Older Generation" Drink. My both Grandmums always had some when we visited them back then. Its really tasty when you pour some over Vanille Ice Cream and you can use it in Bakery too. My Wife made a awesome Cake with it. Also there some really nice Cocktail recipes with it too.
@@dasmaurerle4347in the Netherlands the older generation have Advocaat with sweet whipped cream. And we have a cake that's named snowstar (sneeuwster) regular cake with advocaat and powdered sugar. And a mix with Grand Marnier and 7up is very yummie😋😋😋😋.
The „moldy“ cheese is just blue cheese like you can buy it in the USA, made with cultures of edible molds. If you ever had blue cheese dressing - that’s in there.
The german word "Salat" stands for every cold mix of ingredients which does not have another name AND the "Salat"- plants. Neither greens nor majonaise is necessary, to make something a "Salat".
Speck is a be fried, with Bratkartoffeln, over green beans , around Rouladen....I think they use it in a dish called 'Birnen, Bohnen und Speck'.. I like it fried very crispy, like bacon with eggs.
She is wrong. Verpoorten is not Eierlikör (egg nogg) it is advocaat. Advocaat has way more egg yolk and sugar in it than egg nogg. And it is delicious. Goes very well with ice cream, pancakes, poffertjes
Actually, all the things shown are nothing unusual in Germany and are very popular. Otherwise, they wouldn't be sold in a regular supermarket but in a specialty or niche store, but REWE is just a normal mainstream supermarket with profit optimization. Especially the blondie is just very picky and probably thinks it's cute to artificially disgust herself with everything.
@@BR618 Nothing was wasted back when they invented it. ;) And I have to ask... Did you once drive a BR618? It's quite an unusual nick, even amongst people who like trains. ^^
@@Akabei01 Sadly not, the train u see in the char is/was a prototype for DB (DB/EBA registration BR 618 001-2), and was never in full service. It's "z-gestellt" (DB-German for "park it somewhere and forget about") since 2006, but I have seen it and was on board whilst parked. The Coradia Nordic/Continental derived from it. ^^
It is absolutely ok that foreigners find food related things weird sometimes. But that the two can’t explain what the stuff is annoys me a lot! Pickled fish, lard, blue cheeses and blood based sausages / dishes are super common around the world.
yeah, me too I was very, very surprised that even they as Germans could not explain what it is used for. And the two also regarded a lot as "disgusting" which is absolutely normal here. I mean, for sure it is always a matter of taste. But I do not call anything I don't like so much "Disgusting!" So either they are both very picky or the only use convenience stuff at home to cook a meal.
I'm confused. They think moldy cheese is weird, fried fish is weird too, pork fat is disgusting too, but the vegan shit with 1000 additives and McDonald's.....that's not weird at all....poor world
I feel you. I like greased fat melted in a pan together with onion and grated apple. On a pice of fresh bread with sour cucumber it's delicious. Also mite cheese on top a pice of fresh bread and butter. My grandfather made mite cheese and I made it too. Unfortunately my mites died.
@@erzengelmichi666 In our case, most of our food was made ourselves, meat, cheese, bread, etc. but the knowledge is lost because the younger ones are not interested in it, like where does the electricity come from? from the socket
About the “moldy” cheese. Think of it the next time you pop in some antibiotics. You can have those because of good molds that are antibacterial. Some blue cheeses are the best there are! If you ever tried it, you would notice the difference between bad (uneatable) mold and good (eatable) mold. They are nothing alike! It’s all in the head!
I can't eat blue cheese when i see it, but after it is turned into Gorgonzola-Sauce, it isn't bad at all ! and i also like camembert, brie and similar "white mold" cheeses. but just as with all cheeses, i only like them 'young' and not 'ripe' or 'aged', thus also not that "stinky cheese"
4:30 that cheese tastes best when it is very ripe. but yes the smell isn't everyone's favorite 8:30 "Lachsfleisch" is one of the finest pork cuts you can get, pure soft muscle, low fat, no tendon/string. Almost as expensive as the filet. The muscle is called "die Lachse" in German. "der Lachs" is German for salmon. "man weiß nicht ob Fisch oder Fleisch" hahaha funny
if you live in Hamburg or further north the fish items and Speck(you slice it before you cook it) is very usual, but I recommend to buy it on a farmers market or Fischmarkt.
what would be fun would be a video of people cooking with the ingredients they buy. I am quite certain, many would not have the cringy disgust on their faces they do when they see it as an ingredient in the store. Many of these things can be turned into delicious food: the Harzer Käse (which I personally hate) makes a wonderful Kochkäse (which I love). The smoked bacon is fantastic cut into small cubes, and fried with raw potatoes, etc. So, don’t knock things before you tried them!
My grandmother would cut the back fat up into tiny cubes and fry them, making them even tinier, with all the fat juices being pulled out. Then she would mix all that, cubes and liquid fat, under pasta. But only a small amount. All of it would be way too much.
painted eggs are usually an Eastern thing. As a kid we blow out the egghvite and the yellowish through to needleholes and then paint them, afterwards we used it as Easter decoration.
Maybe a decade ago, i saw those cooked+colored eggs for the first time, but only around easter. After they were a success and sold very well for a few years, the companies started selling them all year round as "party eggs" instead of "easter eggs". Since boiling the eggs removes the natural protective cover that allows to store eggs without refrigeration, they need to be coated somehow to get that effect back, eg by covering them with paint. There is no date printed on those cooked+colored eggs, but the package has that "minimum duration" printed on it, which usually is 3+ weeks. most people won't have problems eating at least 2 eggs per week, even when not checking the date all the time.
It's not a mouth Wash, it only tastes like this because of the mint taste. The coloured eggs are on easter. You don't colour eggs on Easter in America? It's a tradition in almost every European country

Funny video. I've eaten moldy cheese, it's not bad and quite popular here in Slovakia. They also put it on some pizzas. But I wouldn't touch the one with worms. And also the word salad has two meanings, one is the vegetable (lettuce) and the other is a cold dish made of mixture of vegetables or fruits, meat, potatoes, fish, cheese... with a dressing like vinegar, mayo, lemon... And it doesn't imply that it's healthy, it's just a type of dish, like saying 'soup' 😁 I love our carrot salad, it's grated carrots with juice from fresh lemon, tap water... and a few spoons of sugar 😋🤭
There are modern versions of Egg Liqueur with vanilla a much lighter/thinner consistency ... tasts great ... you dont realize how much alkohol it contains until it hits you like bam! 😂
The "Handkäse" is the best when its sliced in thin slices, marinated with vinegar, oil, onions, salt, pepper and eaten with bread. Its called "Handkäs with music"
fried herring is super tasty... but i guess it's more popular in the northern parts of germany. But give me Labskaus and Brathering and i'm a very happy (north-)german.
I don't like the condescending, arrogant tone of some buyers here at all. Of the foods presented, I like some and absolutely dislike some others. But tastes are different, and calling something disgusting because I don't like it is rather inappropriate.
This is exactly what I thought. It is always a matter of taste, but I don't call everything I do not like "disgusting"! And what annoyed me most was the fact, that the two Germans did not have any clue about the most normal stuff. Maybe they never cook at home but use only convenience stuff.
Fried herring (Brathering) is very tasty even it does look bit strange. Pork bacon (Speck) fried in a pan together with onions and some bacon (fried golden brown). Then you add boiled potatoes and fry them too (fried potatoes). Add fried eggs too.
@wald-meister6 ...was würden die erst über "Puttes/Flönz" sagen, sieht auf den ersten Blick vielleicht auch nicht so nice aus - schmeckt dafür aber umso besser...!
7:54 There is nothing to complain about the pickled fried herring. It may not look pretty, but it's just swimming in a broth of vegetables, herbs and spices.
Yes, this cheese is not available in the USA, but it is, among other wonderful cheeses, one of the few that when you open the package it almost blows you away because it smells so extremely, but strangely enough, such cheeses are very spicy and also very pleasant in taste, despite the intense smell. However, most types of cheese don't taste really good fresh from the refrigerator; they only become really good after a few hours without refrigeration and then they develop their full, ripe aroma....
The mold you have in mind is the black mold that grows in damp apartments in damp corners. The mold in the cheese is a blue mold. It is ok and harmless
it's not a salad, it's the mixture, you throw all together, mix it up and done, like a salad. there is also the german phrase: da haben wir den salat (there you got it, it's salad). which means: what a mess.. and this is also why fleisch, eier and any other salad is called salad, it's ma mess of ingrediants
The smoked pig back is used like lard to fry in the pan. On medium temperature it melts in the pan and than you can fry a pork chop for example and it gets a much richer flavor. Usualy you don't eat it itself but very few eat it with bread.
Cook/fry that piece of fatty meat. the result will be _"Griebenschmalz"_ and thus of course, you can use it for cooking like lard when it is the same. It is also used to fill _Rouladen,_ or with other dry meat eg _Rehbraten_. These people seem to be no chefs, but often rather the opposite, clueless.
In my circle of friends we have made it a habit to drink Frangelico (a hazelnut liqueur) and Pfeffi in tandem. Those work really well if you drink them one after the other (DONT mix) and give you a nice buzz to start of the evening ;)
That super fat bacon is often used in traditiional dish and it gives just the creamy bacony taste to the dish, for example sauerkraut smashed potatoes dish. Very good! That wonderball has layers of candy you need to lick away first before you get the gum. Liver sausage really taste good. You can wake me up for that. It is just like a paté with herbs and it’s just meat. Really good!
We was at a german friend's place, some decades ago, and his wife offered us her home made cheese. It has large green spots on the side, and we could not force ourselves to try it. Some days later it came up, and was cleared that those were green herbs in it...
😂Your remark about the choice in sandwich meat almost made me spit my coffee. Americans are known for their cereals the Netherlands and Germany are known for bread. And you just don't want the same meats with your bread each day, hence big variety. Also most of the salads have a double use either on bread/toast or mixed with lettuce and so on. And yes the fungus i consume are not visible as in yoghurt and antibiotics😂. To each their own. 🇳🇱🧡
My english is to bad to explane... try a translation app or something: Fetter Speck ist zum Auslassen in der Bratpfanne (wegen des Geschmacks) um danach z.b.
By the way the reason for the colored eggs in Germany is that you distinguish them from uncooked eggs. By law cooked eggs have to be colored, either in one color or many colors. So you can get colored "easter eggs" all the time in Germany, because they just produce multicolored cooked eggs all the time
The expressions in your face said more than thousand words.😀 When i travelled through Asia I was asked If It's true, that Europeans eat "rotten milk with mould". She was talking about those kinds of cheese.
"Salat" (literally translated salad) has two meanings in German. 1. The green vegetables, mostly eaten uncooked with vinaigrette. 2. A mix of various things. This could be sausages with pickels and mayonnaise, or other food. Or a messed-up bunch of cables for your phone, or other stuff.
I love German and European markets. Including the shopping carts/buggies. All 4 wheels turn in the direction you are turning. Not just the front 2 like here in the US
there are NO weard things in the video.....Brathering is herring first fried then pickled, Lachsfleisch is named after the part of meat (a lean part of the porkback),not after the fisch, Speck is often used by the older generation.....etc. the two germans in this video are not really informed about traditions and classics in german food
Exactly, and drowning everything - Fleischsalat, Kartoffelsalat etc - in mayonaise is more of a northern (and possibly) eastern German thing. In the south - Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg - our potato and Wurstsalat is typically made with oil and vinegar. And the Fleischsalat (made from sausage BTW) I usually buy from my local Metzger (butcher) is made with yoghurt. And Schimmelkäse, e.g. Gorgonzola or Blue Stilton, is very healthy since the blue mold contains or sets free antioxidants, something people have benefitted from at least since the Middle Ages.
It is always the matter of personal taste. For example I think peanutbutter is disgusting and even more with jelly. In Germany for my taste blood sausage and tounge sausage is gross. But brawn (Sülze) on fresh bread is really good. My Dad on the other hand loves blood sausage.
There are many kinds of potato salad. I prefer the tasty one, with added fresh fine cut onions, sour cucumber pieces and vegetable stock as main ingridients. And it is eaten warm after having it set for a few minutes. And yes, you had to peel the potatoes when they were hot! In case you actually made too much, you either can eat it cold the day after, or just fry it in a pan.
I can remember that my late grandma and grandpa, who lived in the country and had a farm together, always had fried potatoes with pork back bacon. I always thought it was tasty, even though I wouldn`t eat the bacon that raw.🙂🌹
"Ei, Ei, Ei Verpoorten - Verpoorten allerorten" You can be sure that EVERY German older than 45-50 years knows this slogan from the 70s ads .....It's still on sale, wow.
There are some bad translation errors in that video... oh well. 😅 BTW, the Hering with Pepperoni is not what Pepperoni means in the US (the Salami type Pizza Topping), those are Chili Peppers.
Grabbing a bottle of beer in a supermarket and drinking it on the street is weird. Grabbing a gun and ammunition in Walmart and carring this on the street, that is just normal. Brathering is doch lecker.
Brathering (Fried herring) is super delicious with fried potatoes or potato salad. You definitely shouldn't miss this. When you buy a can of Brathering, please think about the Grete in the middle. Please remove them first.
Peppermint liquor is also traditional in Czech lands. ;) So Czechs wouldn´t be surprised. We call it in czech language "zelená" which means green, or "Fefrmincka" which means peppermint😛
It's not only that coloured eggs are more appealing, but you can tell the cooked from the uncooked. Just imagine you just grab a couple of eggs to put in your lunchbox for work, thinking they're hard-boiled, and then slamming it on the table to crack it open and spilling raw egg over your desk... And Rückenspeck is something you can render out for having some crispy bacon pieces and a lot of fat to fry your veggies or other meat in. A great way to make Schmalz, which is pig fat (or goose / duck fat) that is solid and can be used for high-heat frying, especially for meat. "Lachsfleisch" just means meat from the Schweinelachs, which is the lean piece from the back. Totally delicious. Our cold cut section is like your Peanut Butter aisle :D More options than you need. Blue cheese isn't mine, no, but a nice Brie or Camembert has white mold growing on it, which is edible and important for the taste.
Moldy cheese is a fine thing - it's not just any mold, but a noble mold that is also inoculated into the cheese. And they find bacon disgusting for me, they are not German, I love the liver dumplings with bacon cubes that are fried and sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. One of my favorite meals.
Many of those "13 Wierd Things in German Supermarkets" are also for sale in Dutch supermarkets. E Egg yolk liqueur is called "advocaat" (=lawyer) in the Netherlands and is often served with a same amount of whipped cream.😢
Advocaat is mostly the yolk, while eggnog is mostly the white. Also advocaat (while definitely tasty and drinkable) isn't really meant as a drink while eggnog is, it's mostly meant as a sort of condiment for deserts.
Hi People interesting Video about these Foods and the Reaction of the Testers. ☺ I was a little surprised about the "Liversausage (Leberwurst) Thing": Its just Meat, Spices, Lard and Liver (and in that case then boiled and maybe also smoked). It is very similar to a Paté The Meat Salad is cut Sausage (like Wiener Sausage) with Mayo etc. - no Fear it's not raw Meat 🙃 Just my Opinion: The Best Thing is, to buy such Foods in a Butcher Store or the Butcher Counter at the Supermarket The Mouldy Cheese, well...isn´t so my Thing, either. It's an eatable Mould Culture similar to Brie-Cheese. I am hungry now 😋 Bye bye, have a nice Day!
"Blue cheese" (the internationally accepted name for 'mouldy cheese') is an acquired taste for sure, but pretty common to see all over the EU, it's mostly produced and exported by France but made in a few other EU countries as well, you should not be afraid to try it, it's made with very strict regulations (pretty much in a lab) and completely safe. It's not comparable to 'mould' like you get on expired produce or whatever & it's mostly enjoyed by people above 35 or something (seems to hit differently at a certain age?) with a glass of wine. Cheese that involves worms/maggots/whatever are just a bridge too far for 99% of us, but apparently it's really good, there's some crazy variants that include booze, but so far that has not convinced me to try it. Now that i think about it, i should probably try some 'light blue cheese' (essentially a beginner version) some time soon, since it's been a few years since i've had some and it does very much seem to tie into age, never really _disliked_ blue cheese but never really wanted it either, maybe these days i'm at an age where i actually like the taste, hmmms 🤔
The salmon meat is pork which is raw, lightly marinated and smoked. Basically a mixture of roast beef and graved salmon. The inside of the cutlet is also called salmon in the long piece. If you remove the cutlet bones you get the pork “salmon”. It is sold raw and in thick slices as minute steaks. I prefer to buy slices of ham rather than salmon meat. It's made in a similar way, but it's much tastier due to the longer maturation and drying process.
0:28 From a German perspective, the USA has a very absurd approach to alcohol. Just because you can buy beer and wine from the age of 16 and schnapps and liqueur from the age of 18 and consume them in public doesn't mean that there are only drunk people walking around everywhere in Germany. Being drunk in itself is not a criminal offense, but you get into trouble as soon as you can no longer control yourself or cause trouble.
Eierlikör is also very tasty, but it needs to be selfmade!! With the stuff you can buy, you just taste the alcohol. But in this video they find any kind if strange version of it with avocado (maybe a vegan version without eggs, i don't know), I've never seen over here. Try selfmade Eierlikör with some icecream when came back. Soo yummy 😋 Or mix it with ginger ale 👍😎
It was invented by brazilian natives that made it with avocados. Then the europeans did substitute them with eggs. Guess she just read just a description of the history on the bottle. German presenter not knowing "Eierlikör" ... facepalm
I find it a bit disrespectful that in every second sentence there is this word "disgusting" or "horrible" (especially by the two German moderators). It is just a matter of customs in my eyes. And always keep in mind that for all this meat stuff, animals have died... so a bit more of respect maybe.
that channel isn't bad at all, but when it comes to cooking and kitchen, i don't trust them when (as germans) they don't know a lot (or sometimes nothing) about german dishes or their ingredients. it also doesn't help to try finding something disgusting and even when someone likes something, insisting that it is disgusting for someone else. except for 'ripe' (stinking) cheese, what they bought could have been my shopping list !!!
Regarding the "mouthwash". When i went to the USA i wanted to try Root Beer, because i heard good things about it. The guy who sold it warned me that it would taste like mouthwash - and well, he was right. It tasted disgusting.😂 Pfeffi is not only sold in Berlin, but they have their own version, called "Berliner Luft".
Liquor sales vary in the various countries of the EU. In the Netherlands, where I'm from supermarkets may sell beer and wine. For stronger alcoholic beverages you have to go to a liquor store. In Scandinavia you only can buy liquor in state owned liquor store. Prices are outrageous there because of high taxes on any alcoholic beverage. Half a liter of beer is € 4.00 in a supermarket compared to less than one euro in The Netherlands
The fat stick sure would be disgusting if you tried to eat it as is. Use it in other dishes like soup or when frying stuff as seasoning. As for moldy cheese: don't you have cheeses like camembert or such over in the US? Edible types of mold actually help preserving the cheese. Since the surface is already occupied by the fungus other, more dangerous types of mold have a hard time spoiling the cheese.
Some cheeses ^are^ eaten with maggots. The maggots themselves are supposed to taste interesting, but they exude digestive enzymes through their skins that allegedly give the cheese a complex character.
Hi, Joel! If you say green salad or leaf lettuce or "fresh" mixed salat or vegetable salad it is quite clear what is meant, right? (= Lettuce, tomatoes, corn, beans, etc., maybe with chicken/ grilled chicken, cheese, eggs, maybe fish, shrimps...). Otherwise in the case of "Fleischsalat" (= meat salad) or egg salad, herring salad, potato salad, noodle salad) it's just mixed and stirred ("like a salad") with an appropriate component and a kind of sauce, which usually consists of mayonaise, and this is seasoned a bit with salt, vinegar, possibly herbs, little pieces of pickles and whatever. Btw: German food is often not the most beautiful one, but it tastes hearty. Some thinks are good after drinking alcohol!!! But in this case don`t forget also to eat some healthy things in addition to that. It`s better for you! 😉😆😅 Funny video!
The eggliqueur is actually dutch. It tastes quite strong if you eat it pure. But the older generation here eats it like 1/3 eggliqueur and 2/3 freshly made whippedcream with sugar and than it tastes very nice.
It’s maybe better than fast food. Some of the items are kind of old fashioned. My father had Brathering (fried fish in a marinade) once a week. It was a cheap meal back in the days and a „ Arme Leute Essen“ like horse meat.
As a German, not knowing Verpoorten eggnog is strange.

Verpoorten GmbH & Co. KG is a manufacturer of eggnog based in Bonn.

The german word "Salat" stands for every cold mix of ingredients which does not have another name AND the "Salat"- plants. Neither greens nor majonaise is necessary, to make something a "Salat".
The saying "Jetzt haben wir den Salat" simply stands for a mess off different stuff and that is how a salad is made.
Germans also have "Obstsalat", English: fruit salad. In Italian you can't call something a "salad" without salt.
Speck is a be fried, with Bratkartoffeln, over green beans , around Rouladen....I think they use it in a dish called 'Birnen, Bohnen und Speck'.. I like it fried very crispy, like bacon with eggs.
And in my area, you can't cook green bean soup without bacon and onions. 🤷🏼♀️
Sad thing is, that lots of these things are quite commonly known
Unfortunately the presenters had a huge lack of knowlegde, imho.
wtf, they act like Speck is something weird or disgusting… while they are full of them…. it’s just bacon
right, its also part of many traditional german dishes. but atleast that shows that all this women in this video have no idea how to propperly cook
They have never eaten a good carbonara before...
Speck is not just a German thing. Italians have Lardo which is pretty much the same.
I wouldn't think to dry the fatty skin of an animal over smoke. ^^
@@BR618 Nothing was wasted back when they invented it. ;)
And I have to ask...
One can also point out that "blue cheese dressing" in America is based on "moldy cheese."
@@Anson_AKB Brie is amazing and i agree on the young cheeses bit. Camembert is just aged Brie btw.
4:30 that cheese tastes best when it is very ripe. but yes the smell isn't everyone's favorite
8:30 "Lachsfleisch" is one of the finest pork cuts you can get, pure soft muscle, low fat, no tendon/string. Almost as expensive as the filet. The muscle is called "die Lachse" in German. "der Lachs" is German for salmon.
"man weiß nicht ob Fisch oder Fleisch" hahaha funny
Plural form of "der Lachs" (salmon) is "die Lachse" (salmons); the fish(-group) is commonly known, the name of a muscle of an animal less so. ^^😋
French cheese with good mould is a delicacy and similar to the Italian counterpart has a price, bc it's Gourmet cheese and rare - I love it!
🇮🇹❤️🇲🇫❤️👍
These were all common things you can get in every supermarket, except for the megas gumball on a stick.
I love Brathering. That's great with bread and mayonnaise.
Brathering with mayonaise? Eeewh! Philistine!
With Bratkartoffeln🤩
You don't need mayo alongside Brathering though. Just put it on a plate with some of the marinade and pour some pieces of bread into the sauce!
if you live in Hamburg or further north the fish items and Speck(you slice it before you cook it) is very usual, but I recommend to buy it on a farmers market or Fischmarkt.
The mouldy cheese is a blue cheese, often made into sauce for steaks or burgers!
NOT !!
Yes, it's similar to Gorgonzola. Just not as fatty.
@@josefineseyfarth6236
Sorry, but definitely not.
I love mature Harzer and hate Gorgonzola.
5:24 Fun fact: Listerine mouthwash was designed to use as floorcleaner.
Coca-Cola is also made as a cleaning product. it end up with sugar an tatatata , you have soda.
what would be fun would be a video of people cooking with the ingredients they buy.
Or it could be used in a stew e.g.
Egg white and yolk.
It's not a mouth Wash, it only tastes like this because of the mint taste. The coloured eggs are on easter. You don't colour eggs on Easter in America? It's a tradition in almost every European country

@@marcomaihofer deine meinung ist falsch, brudi
Funny video. I've eaten moldy cheese, it's not bad and quite popular here in Slovakia. They also put it on some pizzas. But I wouldn't touch the one with worms. And also the word salad has two meanings, one is the vegetable (lettuce) and the other is a cold dish made of mixture of vegetables or fruits, meat, potatoes, fish, cheese... with a dressing like vinegar, mayo, lemon... And it doesn't imply that it's healthy, it's just a type of dish, like saying 'soup' 😁 I love our carrot salad, it's grated carrots with juice from fresh lemon, tap water... and a few spoons of sugar 😋🤭
yes, it sounded as if she never had heard of any salad without green leafed vegetables, eg potato salad or noodle salad ...
Brathering is just pickeled hering and is very tasty when it comes with mashed potatoes 😋
@wald-meister6
...was würden die erst über "Puttes/Flönz" sagen, sieht auf den ersten Blick vielleicht auch nicht so nice aus - schmeckt dafür aber umso besser...!
However, most types of cheese don't taste really good fresh from the refrigerator; they only become really good after a few hours without refrigeration and then they develop their full, ripe aroma....
you are exaggerating extremely about the smell. Trust me, the biggest problem is in the people's heads. If not, try out mite cheese.
Kabelsalat with mayo 🤤
Ah deswegen sagt man des
Der Käse nennt sich Gorgonzola und den gibts in jedem Restaurant und schmeckt super ihr Hühner 😅
The smoked pig back is used like lard to fry in the pan. On medium temperature it melts in the pan and than you can fry a pork chop for example and it gets a much richer flavor. Usualy you don't eat it itself but very few eat it with bread.
Cook/fry that piece of fatty meat. the result will be _"Griebenschmalz"_
and thus of course, you can use it for cooking like lard when it is the same.
Lysell is a premium brand for this kind of food. Extremly delicious and high quality products. Highly recommend.

Wie kann man denn als Deutsche Verpoorten Eierlikör nicht kennen?!
Your are shocked because of the alcohol in German supermarkets, but I am more shocked about the weapons in US supermarkets.
You think the eggs are colourful,,,,you should see the hens ,,, full drag in the farm yard.
pig fat/ Lard, beef fat / suet, both used in England in savoury pastries, its not a snack!
By the way the reason for the colored eggs in Germany is that you distinguish them from uncooked eggs. By law cooked eggs have to be colored, either in one color or many colors. So you can get colored "easter eggs" all the time in Germany, because they just produce multicolored cooked eggs all the time
Speck is very tasty when you melt a little of it inside a pan . You can roast slices of potatoes with it !! Delicious
The expressions in your face said more than thousand words.😀
When i travelled through Asia I was asked If It's true, that Europeans eat "rotten milk with mould".
Not just the front 2 like here in the US
With the rear wheels fixed, you can take curves at a much higher speed. I like to shop fast and envy the Americans for their Formula 1 shopping carts!
there are NO weard things in the video.....Brathering is herring first fried then pickled, Lachsfleisch is named after the part of meat (a lean part of the porkback),not after the fisch, Speck is often used by the older generation.....etc. the two germans in this video are not really informed about traditions and classics in german food
Also, der Handkäse wird bei uns in Hessen in Weisswein gelegt mit kleingeschnittenen Zwiebeln. Dazu gibt es leckeres Brot und ein Glas Wein. Das nennt man dann "Handkäs mit Musik"

Pfeffi, the "Mouthwash with alcohol" - we call it: "Pfeffi, the music festival toothbrush" :)
It is always the matter of personal taste. For example I think peanutbutter is disgusting and even more with jelly. In Germany for my taste blood sausage and tounge sausage is gross. But brawn (Sülze) on fresh bread is really good. My Dad on the other hand loves blood sausage.
The eggyolk liquer is actually VERY common in GErmany. Not something you have to search for!
Pfeffi, or Pfefferminzlikör, is similar to Crème de Menthe but without the sugar.
You're shocked about beer in supermarket, but Walmart selling guns is normal? lol ...and that "mouthwash booze" is just a peppermint liqueur lol
There are some bad translation errors in that video... oh well. 😅
BTW, the Hering with Pepperoni is not what Pepperoni means in the US (the Salami type Pizza Topping), those are Chili Peppers.
Taste is a very subjective, personal thing. I‘d never judge someone therefore.. the video you react to:👎🏻
But I really ❤your content over all!
Hi People
interesting Video about these Foods and the Reaction of the Testers. ☺
I was a little surprised about the "Liversausage (Leberwurst) Thing": Its just Meat, Spices, Lard and Liver (and in that case then boiled and maybe also smoked). It is very similar to a Paté
The Meat Salad is cut Sausage (like Wiener Sausage) with Mayo etc. - no Fear it's not raw Meat 🙃
Just my Opinion: The Best Thing is, to buy such Foods in a Butcher Store or the Butcher Counter at the Supermarket
The Mouldy Cheese, well...isn´t so my Thing, either. It's an eatable Mould Culture similar to Brie-Cheese.
I am hungry now 😋
Bye bye, have a nice Day!
Unforntunatelly one of the best things was missing: smokes Blutwurst.
The only time I ever used Rückenspeck was to rub the Easter Eggs to make them shiny.
Isnt blue cheese popular in the US? Thats also just moldy cheese
Soo yummy 😋
Or mix it with ginger ale 👍😎
It was invented by brazilian natives that made it with avocados.
Then the europeans did substitute them with eggs.
Guess she just read just a description of the history on the bottle.
German presenter not knowing "Eierlikör" ... facepalm
I would eat that whole platter at the end, lol
4:42 Oh no, they're doing it completely wrong. 😆 It first has to be marinated in oil with onions and caraway seeds. Then sliced on bread with butter.
Well, you have to know, Germans are very direct when it comes to giving opinion. They are not sugary and coat icing to say their opinions
@@oyetify I am German, and this is far away from being direct. These are personal opinions sold as sth general and trash talking about food products.
The cheese is so delicious, we love it. You eat it on a butterbread or make Spätzle with a sauce of this cheese mixed with cream!
Regarding the "mouthwash". When i went to the USA i wanted to try Root Beer, because i heard good things about it. The guy who sold it warned me that it would taste like mouthwash - and well, he was right. It tasted disgusting.😂
Pfeffi is not only sold in Berlin, but they have their own version, called "Berliner Luft".
Most of those things are normal in Czech lands as well, for example fried herring you can buy here in almost all supermarkets. :)
you have weapons in supermarkets, we have alcohol :)
Schimmelkäse ? I don’t like to eat it !! But melt it in creamy sauce , maybe for noodles or for roasted beef
You can have Fleischsalat (meat salad) with or without pickles. Take the one with pickles and you have the green parts. 😛
Funny video!
The fat "speck" is very similar to American fatback or salt pork. Brathering is a fried hering (certain kind of fish) which is marinated
The eggliqueur is actually dutch. It tastes quite strong if you eat it pure. But the older generation here eats it like 1/3 eggliqueur and 2/3 freshly made whippedcream with sugar and than it tastes very nice.
Nah it's a different thing, you're referring to 'advocaat' and this is much closer to american 'eggnog'
Joel is just r3sea4ch8mg for his next German supermarket visit.
It’s maybe better than fast food. Some of the items are kind of old fashioned. My father had Brathering (fried fish in a marinade) once a week. It was a cheap meal back in the days and a „ Arme Leute Essen“ like horse meat.
