EA has retired and replaced Origin with the new EA Application, but haven't properly integrated Spore: Galactic Adventures which is REQUIRED for Modding. - Ігри
Thanks to EA, I lost my 10+ year old Spore account. Due to the inability to find out my CD key on Steam to activate it, I am now literally forever banned from entering the network. The funny thing is that this account both exists and does not exist at the same time. My friend sees this account in his game, but it is physically impossible to log into this account due to the "deletion" of the Maxis account system

@@aryantzh2028 Microsoft and EA are more concerned about money than people and the mass layoff of employees is because EA does not want to give money to employees, already in Brazil, almost all known or better stores, unfortunately, are being abandoned due to poor management...

Having a hard copy is a godsent when it comes to Spore for this reason specifically...Even form a business standpoint this is a really bad decision because making spore unmoddable on multiple platforms now is going to promote more and more people to pirate the game instead of buying it due to the confusion around modding for outsiders of the Spore community.
I was honestly attempting to transfer my copy of spore to origin to allow me to repair my installation a few years ago but im am soo glad that the spore modders discord exists, they helped me recover a large amount of my creations before having to reinstall the game and in doing so I seem to have dodged a bullet. Thank you so much for referring me to them DarkEdge, without you I wouldn't have a modded copy of Spore anymore!
As far as Im aware now there are only 3 ways to play spore modded now: owning a hard copy, owning the game on GOG, or illegally obtaining the game. I cant possibly comprehend why EA would so haphazardly throw around profitable IP's like this, old or not some of EA's most beloved and profitable games are going to be effected by this problem they've made. This just proves how little they care for their old projects and their consumers. Honestly EA never cared, from the start they were a corporation at heart, 'make money at any cost' was always their primary goal, which is why they want control of where their games are distributed.
Lets hope they don't come for GOG next.

I'm on windows 11 with the Steam copy of Spore and both of its DLC, I also have a lot of mods, but didn't know that GOG also had Spore
Time to get the GOG version, I guess. Spore was removed from my Origin account a while ago for some reason, though I still have creepy and cute.

I was lucky enough to be able to transfer my keys from steam to origin; I jumped ship from steam because it lacked good mod compatibility (the steam version is weirdly flakey with it and will act strangely when mods try to do certain things). I really would prefer not to do that again, but EA is EA. I'm glad spore is the only thing I own on their platform

I don't even understand why they do this obsoleting old stuff. To me, just make stuff updated and backwards compatible. It's not hard. I may not be programmer, but I know enough about code and tech that, if a modder can make a game compatible with modern systems, a big tech company or big tech game industry should be able to do the same for their programs.
But no, they move onto subscription based services, want you to keep buying new stuff to wring customers dry of their wealth, it's like legal robbery! Very rude of them and all others abusing the people just to make a quick buck! They add too many new Windows, why Windows 11? Just stay on Windows 10 for a few decades it's not hard! Just update a little, but don't make a whole new system and force people to update while rendering old games and programs obsolete and unusable! Very rude!
this is why i chose GOG for spore when i first started modding....not only because it was the most agreeable with mods and like you pointed out,no DRM bullshit.
but the fact there is no 3rd party middle man every time you wanna run your game...as well GOG has the spore collection that basically puts everything and treats it as one solid game. (basically what origin is trying to do,but better). (that and not having to buy the dlc seperately helps too ).
but yeah i figured something like this would happen on origin eventually,i stopped trusting thier launcher when game i bought started dissapearing from my library for no reason and even when i did use it my spore game from it it behaved kind of weird.

I need to go check Sims 3 tho, Origin has all my DLC and a few mods (just NRAAS and other ‘developer tools’, no custom content). My Spore has been broken ever since I migrated to a new PC. My old PC’s Spore was modded with Dark Injections and other mods, but when I switched computers, now the game crashes on start up. Attempting to install the same mods (I might have missed one or two) still didn’t fix the crashing issue. I did buy Spore and its DLC on Steam just to play it, I just can’t mod it since mods don’t work as well on the Steam version. Sorry that EA f*cked up again, DE.
Edit: I still have Origin. I just assumed launching it would overwrite it with EA Desktop but it didn’t, so I was able to run Sims 3 with no issues since I still have Origin. It didn’t even tell me about EA Desktop this time so, for now, my games are safe (aside from Origin Spore foaming at the mouth in the corner)

So glad I have a physical copy of this game, rip. It honestly sucks how many of EA’s older games are becoming increasingly unplayable (For example the digital port of Dragon Age: Origins has had a huge memory leak problem for almost a decade now and it has yet to get fixed, I’ve heard only reliable digital copy is a pirated version with a community made patch grafted onto it). It’s disheartening that it’s so hard to play these games nowadays, especially since it can hard to get physical copies of them.
Thank you for the information! I transferred to the ea app, and everything is good it seems. Also weird side note is that if I try to play GA in the app it just opens like normal spore, and none of the GA stuff is there, but if I use the desktop shortcut it works.

man, I've been depressed because spore has been one of my favorite games for many many years since I was a kid. I bought the whole pack on steam for 4$ and I can't even play it. I get the error 0xc000007b every time, and I've gone through dozens of pages of google trying to find a solution for it. big depresso
Thanks for this video. Recently, I tried to start up Spore, but Origin prevented me from doing so, telling me I needed to install EA's new app. Fortunately, I managed to download the Spore ModAPI Launcher, and it let me play the game again without any issues! Even still, it's really disappointing how often EA and game companies in general seem to screw over the ability to play their old games, and it seems that the communities surrounding them seem to be way better at preservation.
Can you transfer the game to GoG or is it forever stuck on origin if you had it on there alone? I don't mind paying for it again, but it would be easier if I don't have to ya know? It's a shame EA once again decides to ruin things. With a lot of backlash I've heard towards them recently, I'm starting to wonder how long before they crumble.
I was able to get it working by digging through the files and running the Galactic Adventures executable. It downloads everything just fine, it just doesn't seem to allow you to play it through the menu, which is really annoying (Thankfully I'm familiar with the filesystem, but a noob would be forced to play without content they paid for). Also, hearing how it frankensteins the two, that's really bad! The game has a delicate priority system it uses to choose which files to load or ignore, if it happens to load a core spore file over a GA file, the GA file will fail to load in game. And it gives mods a much, MUCH harder time distributing and ensuring bugs won't happen on install. Damn.
...Probably a good thing I didn't transfer to origin. Still have a hard copy of the disc (which I have played my spore on for decades now) but the version is old, like the first versions to ever come out back in 2009-2010. I don't even got the ability on the disc version to have asymmetrical moments nor place creatures on vehicles. Hence why I got it on steam... but steam can't really run mods but I found it could somewhat run... some mods. But they are more so special dances or extending the function of allowing me to put more stuff onto adventures.

But maybe it's just because I'm a more honest and humble person who thinks less about trying to maximize profits at the expense of morality and legal loopholes. More so I would rather just seek an income to keep myself afloat with a few luxury, I just want to live a normal, less stressful life lol. So maybe that's why I don't think greedy like corporations, but I am studying business now! Not that I learn about such practices, those are more self-taught. And people can already see that from big corps is it's not exactly common knowledge. Sad that they moved onto this obsoleting past stuff and slowly gradually phasing things out. Advancing tech so fast, with new systems rather than just updating old ones with backwards compatibility.
As a Mac user, when you said it would be easier for us I went “Oh, PHEW”… until I remembered that since the Catalina update in 2019 Mac doesn’t support 32-bit stuff, which includes Spore. Spore is defunct for me too unless I get Wine working with it.

Remember when the A in EA stood for arts? I don't even know what it means now, but certainly no longer arts.
It's hard for me to remember what my first EA game was, but it was all early 2000s stuff, some of which would be ruthlessly torn apart by the internet and become a PR nightmare.
One game I played was Command and Conquer Generals. It was an amazing game, when I was a kid, my favorite faction was the GLA because... uh... *Car Bomb...* I remember as a kid using these terrorist infantry units to collect a bunch of cars and then drive them around the map. But now, my favorite faction is USA for very AMERICAN reasons.
Another old game I really liked as a kid was SimCity 4, but I was mostly interested in the cars and natural disasters and the tank. I didn't really care much for actually managing the cities I would make, so they would always rack up debt pretty qucikly, as far as I remember.
Now, Command and Conquer and SimCIty are effectively dead and abandoned game franchises, with only a remaster of the original command and conquer and red alert to give us hope, likely false hope, of a proper revival.
The only reason why EA hasn't gone under is because of those damned copy paste games they make, likfe FIFA or the other one. Honestly, that's reason enough for me to hate those games.
I was connected to the Spore server on Steam, but now it says my account (which is still registered) is not connected. How do I fix this and if not, where do I resolve this?
Well.. Time to switch over to steam.
So if I understood everything correctly (and now that I also lost my old EA account where I had my spore copy), to buy the game and both the expansions altogether again I just need to download GoG and get it from there, right?
And then I suppose I'll have to connect to a new account to access the online :/

Similar issue happened with sims 3 packs. Lots of people reported they couldn't install their packs anymore. It took the bastards months before they finally fixed it. And it was possibly a issue that went far back as a year. It was beyond frustrating, considering buying all the packs AGAIN would be like over £100
i bought Spore on steam (like 8 years ago) and now i can mod it with dark injection but i have absolutely no idea of how to register in spore and join the online library. are there methods that still works for the steam version of spore on windows? (as of 2023)
a little help would be appreciated, since i dont want (yet) to rebuy spore somewhere else just for the online library
from what i remember, i had the steam version and had to contact origin staff to transfer it to there so i could make an account, but that doesn't work anymore for obvious reasons :( i can still log in via the steam version with the acc i set up on the origin version, though

I recently started playing Spore, but I didn't even need to buy it; My dad has the game as a disc version! We just needed to buy a little thing that can install games from DVDs to the computer.
It works surprisingly well actually, it doesn't really crash, sometimes during space stage if you zoom in/out of solar systems too quick.
Mac is getting the update now in 2024 :((( Im hoping I can buy it through origin before the update launches.

I think a have something like this. So when I'm using spore The creepy and cute pack doesn't load but the galactic adventures does. So I have zero idea what's going on. Like creepy and cute doesn't load, so the parts just appear as squares, also there is a space in the editor were creepy and cute should be but isnt.
EA could just make Spore 2 (like Spore with cut and Beta content plus better Server and Modding compatibility) and they'd be rich.
EA is currently self-destructing.
Spore is not moddable on Steam, EA doesn't even Launch, I don't have the GOG version (GOG connect also doesn't exist anymore), Origin doesn't exist anymore. It isn't worth anymore.
I've got Spore GA years ago, so I'll be fine :)

Ah sh*t, does this mean Imma have to re-buy the Sims 4!?- because I was playing it via the origin launcher, before my computer bugged out and made itself a basically blank slate again a year or so back (hadn't bothered to redownload it, because I had completely forgotten about it till now). :((
If your Steam Spore has already been working, then that shouldn't change. Just try to avoid touching its installation and making it angry :D as Steam Spore is a very random one

I've not been able to play for years, since I had a physical copy with digital expansions and they stopped letting you install them unless you also owned the digital base game after some dumb origin update >.>.
If I was rich, I would buy the rights to Spore and give it a graphics update, and also making it easily compatible with mods, as in you should be able to browse mods directly from the game itself, like sporepedia but just mods instead of creations!

Steam isn't recommended for modded use due to its DRM, and isn't the most reliable for online play either. But hey, it still works at least!

if I get the good ol games version of spore will I still have access to my bot parts that are registered to my account? I assume the answer would be yes but I'd like to know before dumping another 30 bucks into another copy of spore... I still need to replace my collector's edition that was damaged in moving.
I'm not entirely sure and I am hoping someone more informed can answer - but I do want to quickly say, don't spend 30 bucks, wait for a sale. GoG sales are (if I remember right) as cheap as $5 for the entire collection. They go on sale frequently.
Thankfully I don’t have this issue (I got my Spore from an unofficial website but the folder says gOg) so I can play it as much as I want! I got some mods yesterday morning and have been making some cool things with them, and one got a video.
