Are you sure CLB 7 is minimum? When I used CRS score calculator and I input just a bare minimum score like this, I'm already getting 4additional point: Reading 151-180 Writing 226-270 Listening 181-216 Speaking 226-270 What if I just want to get into the pool of French speakers selection???
A few points are awarded for CLB scores below 7, such as CLB 5 or 6, but to qualify for an additional 50 CRS points or French-specific draws, a CLB 7 is required in all sections
TCf is easier for beginners with zero knowledge of French. If you already have conversational French skills then you can chose exam as per your strength

Considering all corners, going from B1 to B2 to get a CLB7, it can be achieved in anywhere between 3 to 6 months.

You didn't say which exam is easier so... which one is it? TEF or TCF?

It takes about 9 - 12 months to achieve CLB 7
