The way to move forward is by listening opinions that are different to our own, assess what's true, update our knowledge base and if something is actually wrong, call it out, but do not attack the person, you just have to go after the facts and provide good information so we can all learn and grow together. That's it!
Keep doing what you love and listening to people that actually are open to dialogue, you are doing great! You are the reason I get into the e-ink notebooks and I love just learning about all the different options out there for every person's likes 😁

That is a 100000% great comment. I would rather have great dialogue than personal attacks. It just really isn't fun. I make a ton of mistakes and am open to discussion. That is what I love, but lately, for some reason, it hasn't been like that. Thanks for the great comment!

@@rodolfomontes7717 this is the key, tech is merely a tool. It’s important to use the right tool for the right job, but sometimes it dies (RIP Windows Mobile).
There isn’t any piece of tech out there that is perfect. What JB found would put me off the Boox at the moment, but other people are different.

Finally, someone addressed this issue... and in a respectful way. These are just your opinions/experiences, and you're sharing them. No need to get butt-hurt over them. Even if the opinion is wrong, I wish that wasn't looked at as an invitation to attack, but as an opportunity to inform.
You're setting a good example here.

I am using a remarkable 2 since last December. I tried the supernote A6x2 and a few Boox.
The remarkable is the best for me, because I need to focus and I am a writer. It has a great keyboard and I can handwrite or proofread on it. I am using it for my schedule as well.
This has been a life saver for me, writing more than ever before and being more relaxed during my day, avoid social networks.
I even bought a refurb iPod classic. The best combo.

I'm fortunate enough to have a friendly commentariat on my channel. So when I get a comment like this it really sticks out. I just don't understand the need to insult someone. Disagree. Even disagree strongly. But it's just a video. Disagree on content and ideas. You're right. These people turned it personal when they brought in insults.
    Thank you for highlighting this.

100% agree, Boox’s cut and paste implementation in Neo reader and other apps is weak at best and sometimes not available. In notes it is great! Well done for calling out, the poor and annoying part of the comment. Sad really as there was also some good stuff in the description….

Thanks, Ed-yes, just a kinder approach! I've been mentioning your channel as your channel name instead of Ed. FYI, keep going and watch your Supernote videos. I have to get back to mine. I love their roadmaps and customer service, but I don't use it much. It's a great device and company, though. Some people take criticism of their favourite device as criticism of themself.
What I took from your previous video was that failing to design an intuitive software interface places a big obstacle in the way of the user, regardless of the hardware capability of the device.
Yes, you can explain this away. You can describe the steep learning curve. You can describe the overall wider range of features.
But for some people, especially those being asked to transfer from Apple or RM2, the destination is then not worth the journey.

Many people who do not work with mission-critical systems are unaware of the concept of validation. When a new product or piece of software is introduced, it may be tempting to grasp for the "shiny, new thing." Often the old thing needs to stick around for a while, because it works in a consistent and predictable manner. It can take a long time to validate that a new system will fill its intended role as well as the system it is replacing if there are high stakes riding on its output.

    • @morningcoach
      @morningcoach  Місяць тому

Great points. I see this all the time in terms of productivity. People switch from system to system, never giving the "old" to work. Always chasing, always trying to find the "perfect" system. As we know, that is almost impossible. Thanks for the comment - great one!

I use a BOOX device and I love it. However, the Remarkable would have worked for me as well, I can only afford one device. I went with the BOOX because I wanted access to the Kindle App on rare occasions ( design manual). The person who sold me the BOOX device warned me it has a learning curve. The manual was so-so, you tube was great. I had to work at it. My friend who has the Remarkable didn’t have the same learning curve. When my BOOX retires one day, I am sure I will have the same dilemma as all the devices have pluses and minuses. That said, I still use my iPad a lot so maybe I don’t need access to the Kindle App. The truth is that I dove into the e-book pond and I am glad I did.

Your video around the clunky nature of Onyx and the copy and paste kind of saved my sanity. I accidentally found out how to copy and paste (no user should ever type that). It was so clunky that habit tracking only lasted for a few days. I would have stopped using my Note 3 if it wasn't for their split screen capability. I would but your planner in split screen and copy and paste that way or write things over and over. Here is the problem, the average user, this late in the tech game, won't be okay with an extra 3 to 5 clicks to do something that can be done in one or two. You are anything but clueless. Keep doing what you do. If they actually improve that functionality...smile as you had something to do with it. Lol.

@@morningcoach I just can't figure out what led to that implementation. Maybe they didn't do real world testing before they released it. Like you, I hold out hope that they will take a good thing and make it great. In a world full of options, having the user interface on point is essential or people will move on.
