Thank you Anthony for that exceptionally useful explanation of the Lowrey ‘A’ series voice buttons. My great-grandfather was a church organist, but for me at school just after WW2 we did not have the chance to learn music. However, following the loss of my father when his Lancaster bomber was shot down in 1944, grandfather took me to our local cinema, where in the interval between the main film, the British built John COMPTON organ rose up from the orchestra pit filling the auditorium with that wonderful rich mellow sound - an orchestra at one’s fingertips! From then on I wanted to play the organ - but the war just over, so I never had the chance. Some six decades later on a visit back to England I passed a sign to a fairground museum, so turned off down a lane to have a look. There Robin Roper had saved a Compton that he was restoring, and this rekindled my determination to try to read music and play for the first time. I had the idea to spend a few hundred pounds on an old electronic organ to learn on and was tempted by a Technics GA3, but since Panasonic have stopped making organs, one can’t get spare parts. Then I was told about the top of the range, LOWREY. Checking this out we drove to Norfolk to see the range at Allen’s Music Centre, the European agent. Well the Grand Royal looked fantastic, the sound was warm & great- the nearest I might get to a real Compton. Moving on we were shown a Prestige. Now I’m a Hi-Fi buff, and the new ‘A’ series 7-chanel amplifier sounded even more remarkable. We did not how to play a note - but had to have it. Allen’s delivered it to us in the south of France with one of their talented musicians and their technician; the whole installation being videoed for us. A few months passed and Allen’s were hosting their annual Home Organ Holiday weekend, so we flew to England and there I saw the fantastic Imperial, which has given us hours of joy ever since. At this event we met our now very good friend, the Maestro of electronic organ music arrangement, Jim Vogelman, who you will know. However, here in France there is no one to help us beginners, as apart from the church pipe organ, the electronic organs are practically unknown. So to get back to my reason of writing to you. I had no idea how to find so many of the voices on our Imperial that I did not know were there. Very many thanks. David.

Hi. I have a Lowrey Magic Genie 98 that was given to me. What's the deal with the 'Lowrey Flutes?"
