    Tesla, we got a mission for you! :D A new DC-Chargeradapter which is able to communicate with CCS and CHAdeMO and as small as possible while it can charge up to 125 kW :)

    First of all, 125 amps is a lot of current! You can weld with less! I'm amazed Tesla and other carmakers have made dealing with such high power levels as commonplace as charging your cell phone.

      And then we have the Superhargers that can deliver over 300 amps.

      my next car will be an EV. given that, I would think a reasonable maintenance item would be to replace the charger connector socket on the car once a year due to wear and tear.

      Answer to this problem is increasing the voltage.

    Nice video Bjorn. Just got a Soul EV, would be interested to know how it performs on a 100kw chademo. Even better if you could do a road trip in one. As you liked the Ioniq and they both share some parts I think you would like it. Thankyou

    Good information, thank you. I wonder if Tesla will make a higher power CHAdeMO adapter sometime. I doubt it, it took them a long time to come up with the current expensive one. Still it's good enough for me. I've only used mine about five times, that works out at $160 a charge but it is good to have just in case. The SuperCharger network is still very limited here (to be fair there are few Tesla cars here) so CHAdeMO and J1772 options are important to me even though I seldom actually use them.

      I'm afraid that this will take pretty long to roll out - there are many stations which are rarely used at the moment (in EU). This situation might be different in Norway, but there is no car out there which could use it as well, so zero pressure.
      But Musk announced faster-than-350 kW charging with Superchargers v3 :)

      I agree the present day customer is not informed or experienced; they won't demand 100kW let alone 350 kW charging.
      Also, the 2017 vehicles are not expanding on the potential (pun, sorry) of the Tesla batteries of 2016 (100 kWh) they're more like 60 kWh.
      GM is "full court press" selling the Bolt in California and its maximum rate of DC Fast charging is still an hour for 160 miles of range (with a max 230 miles range.)

      An 80 km per day commuter will need more than the 5 hour window of low cost EV electricity service (between 12:00am and 5:00am) and travelers wanting to recharge will be stopping for one hour per 160 miles ... basically twice the delay of a Tesla already at 300 mph. With Elon Musk talking of 350 kW (call it effectively double) I think the demand curve will rise as customers see the greener grass in other charging infrastructure offerings.

    Is that a Arctic Roads charger? Arctic Roads are crazy, they don't deserve to sell one KWh with those crazy prices.

    It seems to me:
    2000-2010 : first generation of EV drivers accepted all compromises.
    2010-2015 : second generation EV drivers wanted range
    2015-2020 : third generation EV drivers will want range and rate of charge
    I expect to see the spec of a typical EV to be marketed on
    kWh "range" (battery capacity)
    kWm "efficiency" (rated energy usage per distance in kilowatt meter)
    kW "performance" (acceleration 0-60 and in general)
    kWh "charge" (rate of charging in kWh)
    Hopefully a standards body will have already published the equivalent metrics to transition from current fossil fuel "climate damage per mile" to a green rating for the vehicle.
    The above four measurements should be part of a whole system where the energy source (a public charging station or home charging solution) will include actual carbon footprint numbers.
    The vehicle manufacturer should also publish an actual footprint for the manufacture of the vehicle, for the batteries, for the maintenance and operating cost, separating out specifics for tires, lubricants, cabin trim choices, etc. and for the whole system lifecycle of a vehicle when fully recycled.
    With all the efficiency and footprint numbers in a simple table, it should be a score and detail "nutrition facts" label for all products (from a toothbrush to a nuclear torpedo.)
    Once each person, city, state, nation and all their governmental operations are reading that "climate facts" label, the cost to build a drone to fire missiles can be opposed not only on the (so far ineffectual) grounds of crimes against humanity, but on the economic and environmental impact ... using a "green" bomb to blow people to pieces becomes all the more obviously futile once the country doesn't even need access to the "oil in foreign soil" anymore ...

    I know people charging their Soul sligtly over 50kW with a Delta charger in Sweden.
