    I was taught this at school 72 yrs ago, had forgotten how, i can no longeŕ bend over sewing macine, have to do all my sewing by hand, as with fibromyalgia i cannot put my head,, neck over machine,, so any tips on using best type of hand sewing needles,, is there a special type proffessional sewers use.?

      Wow, I wish they still taught this stuff in schools in the UK. It’s not all that common these days.
      For hand sewing needles personally I prefer Milward Sharps, and find for most fabrics up to the weight of cotton a No. 8 needle is perfect. I believe sharps are quite commonly available.
