The significance of Pearl Harbor is where WWII started with the bombing on 12/7, *and* where WWII ended. The Battleship Missouri is berthed in Pearl Harbor, and that is the ship where the Japanese Imperial Army signed the surrender treaty (Germany had surrendered earlier) to the USN Navy on the deck of the ship --- where there is a marker showing where the treaty was signed !.
Hawaiian pronounciation tip.....As a general rule, when W is at the beginning of word, pronounce it as W...e.g...Waimea, Waikiki, Waiahole/Waikane, Waimanalo, Waipahu....When W is in middle of the word, pronounce it w/V sound...e.g...Haleiwa(Hah-lay-eee-vah), Ewa(Eh-vah), Alewa(Ah-leh-vah), Halawa(Hah-lah-vah)...
Such wonderful video. Great family creation... One day you all make a trip to my Country (Sri Lanka) and Maldives. I will help you with all tour arrangements. Would love to see how it is going to be...
Our family is heading to Oahu for the first time by the end of summer and I’m so glad I stumbled upon your video. Thank you for the daily itinerary! Btw, by any chance do you have the location of that rope swing you found on the way to the PCC? We’d love to stop by there for our family photo as well. Thank you in advance!
I am excited for you to experience Hawaii. If you want to stop by the rope swing just drive to Hauula Beach Park. It was on the north end of that park. Really, everywhere on the island was a perfect spot for a picture.
What a great adventure! Such a fun family. Thanks for sharing! If you get a chance, we'd be honored if you swung by to see our latest vlog too! Either way, keep on smiling and creating!
Your video is still helping families! We are going to Waikiki in October and I cant wait to see my kids enjoying Hawaii and all it has to offer as much as yours did. (I have no Translation on the toddler jibber jabber.) lol!
We loved Aulani. The best tip is that you can start using their pool the day you check in, even before your room is ready. The hotel staff will hold your bags. And you can change into your swimsuits in their bathrooms (or come wearing it). Same thing when you check out, you can keep swimming all day long. They will hold your bags again for you until you are ready to leave. It’s like 2 swim days for the price of 1 night. Also the hotel rents sand toys and boogie boards to play with at the lagoon. And within walking distance is a shopping district with groceries, restaurants and retail shops. Enjoy your trip!
Big thumbs up 👍for this family video. It reminded me when my kids were little on holidays (you can control them instead of them controlling you when they get to teenage years ..Lol 😝) You nailed all the spots on Oahu to visit !
Just a few Pearl Harbor Factoids....1) The Ring of stone memorials adjacent to Visitors Center are in tribute to U.S. submarines that never returned from tjeir patrol. Submariners refer to that as "Being on Eternal Patrol."....2) Submarine USS Bowfin(SS-287) is referred to as "The Pearl Harbor Avenger" because it was launched on Dec.7, 1942...3) Pearl Harbor, also known as Wai Momi or Pu'uloa in Hawaiian, was so named because of oysters beds that situated along the shorelines of the three lochs that make-up Pearl Harbor. Construction of Pearl harbor decimated said oyster beds. In recent years, conservationists have been working together w/government entities to revive/restore oyster beds BUT it's an LOOONNNG, SLOOOW process...
Great tips! This was the best family oriented video on Oahu. What time of the year did you go to sharks cove? I heard the waves can be rough in the winter
Hi. I purposely planned everything so that we stayed in the same general location each day. If you were to drive from the north side of the island to the south it would take about 40 minutes. I didn’t want to be driving all day so we planned things that were close together.
Hi. Yes we made an itinerary with the addresses before our trip. We just used the maps on our phones to navigate. The island doesn’t have many main roads so it was pretty easy to navigate.
Glad I found your video! We are going end of January with little kids too so it's great to see your experiences with your little ones on these sites especially the hidden beach! Also, thank you for the awesome tips on the Jeep ride and tickets before going to PCC!
We stayed on the north side of the island. I have heard other people suggest staying in 2 locations one on the north side and one closer to Waikiki. Because we planned our days based on geographic location we would just pack for the day and explore in 1 general area.
love your video! your kids are adorable. thumb up for your content to include the itinerary 👍 yours is the first i’ve seen that included it. it’s helpful. i like how you maximized your time by visiting certain each day. it helps me to plan our oahu trip with our family . thx !
Hey Actively Family! I was researching things to do on Oahu for an upcoming trip with my family (three kids aged 7, 5 and 5) and stubbled across this video. It's been SO helpful seeing all the places you went to and your perspective on each one. Thank you so much for putting it out there and giving us insight!
I hope you have an amazing time with your family in Hawaii. There is so much to see and do. After your trip, be sure to let us know what your favorite thing was. Safe travels.
What a great video! Definitely want to go there and try all the things, including the keep ride you guys couldn’t book. Sounds exciting! Also want to try surfing but doubt it will be as good as Kate 😉

This is helpful. The Hawaiian language is beautiful. And we are definitely not locals. Thanks for putting up with our mispronunciations.
When flying to Hawaii I wish they had a short inflight video telling us this information. Thanks for the tip.
Thank you! Loved watching your beautiful family! Headed to Oahu in October. The geographically intelligent agenda will help maximize our time there!
So jealous! Have a great time!!
What was the place they could not get into because they did not book ahead of time?
Kualoa Ranch

Thanks for the comment. Have a wonderful time! Your family will love it.
Nice video. Good tips. Can you give details on the Aulani experience and maybe some tips?
We loved Aulani. The best tip is that you can start using their pool the day you check in, even before your room is ready. The hotel staff will hold your bags. Thanks for the thumbs up! We would love to go back and see even more of the island.

Thanks for the extra insights. We loved Pearl Harbor.
Was watching potty training and decided to see channel and so happen you guys were just here in Oahu lol
We had the best time! Now we know why everyone loves visiting Hawaii. Can’t wait to go back and visit another island.
Wow looks like a fun time for sure! I'd love to visit with my little ones someday. The water looks so blue!
You definitely should! Bucket list item for sure.
You missed Bishop Museum, which is a great family destination that all ages can enjoy.
That was on our list. We ran out of time. Hopefully we can get back to Hawaii. Thanks for the recommendation.
Great tips! This was the best family oriented video on Oahu. What time of the year did you go to sharks cove? I heard the waves can be rough in the winter
Thanks for the compliment. We went in October.
Me and my kids live on Oahu
How far apart is everything? I’m planning to go for the first time with my kids and I’m just curious how to get around all these places lol
Hi. I purposely planned everything so that we stayed in the same general location each day. If you were to drive from the north side of the island to the south it would take about 40 minutes. I didn’t want to be driving all day so we planned things that were close together.
Great video...where's the Aulani video :(
It’s coming!
How about the Disney aulani video? Do they allow day visit at the resort or you have to book a night stay
Hi guys! How did you know how to get to all these awesome places? Did you just put addresses in a GPS?
Hi. Yes we made an itinerary with the addresses before our trip. We just used the maps on our phones to navigate. The island doesn’t have many main roads so it was pretty easy to navigate.

You are going to have a great time! So much to see and do.
Love your video. Which part did you stay in Oahu, do you need to switch hotel in order to see different parts of Oahu island? Thanks Tom
We stayed on the north side of the island. I have heard other people suggest staying in 2 locations one on the north side and one closer to Waikiki. Because we planned our days based on geographic location we would just pack for the day and explore in 1 general area.

Thanks for the comment. Happy to share our itinerary. There is so much to see and do on the island. Have a great trip to Hawaii.
How did you guys get into Disney Aulani Resort? I though you cannot get in there unless you stayed there.
Hi. The lagoons along the beaches are open to the public. But we did stay at the resort and had a great time!
Thank u do much for this video. helped us a lot during our trip
Glad to hear that
Very nice and informative video! Surfing lessons look like a blast! With this itinerary is a car needed for all 7 days?
Hi. Yes I would recommend a car for the itinerary.
Laniakea Beach is known as turtle beach and is in the North Shore :) the beach in this video is Lanikai, which is on the East side!
A lot more turtles can be found lounging on Laniakea!!
Thanks for clarifying.
Great video! What kind of shoes did your kids wear on the hikes?
Hi. Our kids just wore their tennis shoes on the hikes. We wore water shoes when snorkeling but real shoes for hiking.
Great video. Thank you for your review and tips..
Glad you enjoyed the video. Hawaii was such a fun trip.
How did you get around im going in 3 weeks😊
We rented a car at the airport. The island was easy to navigate.
You’re back! Sounds great! (insert Kokomo) here)
Thanks @Bigguys’s45’s
thanks for sharing
You are most welcome.
How much did this trip cost please?
I loved it!!
Thank you!
Great video!
