meap peam tell me about it.... not to brag but palp is my favorite character in this game and I’ve always been really good with him. I’m ALWAYS holding the team on my back with palp. Currently, I’m staying on MK11 until the big update on the 22nd. Just cuz I’m kinda sick of obi wans broken ass mind trick just mopping maul and yoda sucking ass without his “bugged” dash. Andddddd yeah fuck this target system. Can’t wait till people will come and fight me instead of running away. I’m prepared for more bugs than an actual working game mode, of course.
Most people aren't "bad" per se, they just don't try to stick together or even play the objective. I've seen insane HvV comebacks from players deciding to actuallly start figting as a team and not rush into 1v4s getting picked off one by one, leaving your target defenseless since everyone is dead. Combined with the garbage spawning, it's a vicious cycle. Teamates fight alone -> they die -> respawns too far to reach tour target in time -> target gets slaughtered -> repeat.
I’ll be blocking with full stamina and then get force pulled/choked/thrown or even sometimes just completely demolished even in flat terrain. They need to fix blocking/evading especially after they took away stagger
Also, to my knowledge, whether it's intentional or not, you can't block Rey's Mind Trick or Obi-Wan's Restrictive Mind, which is a major pain in the ass.
One tip I give is to try and jump up to higher ground than the opponent. Usually they try to jump up there with you. While they are jumping you can use one of your force abilities (Vader Choke, Luke Push, ect) to get them in mid air since they can not block while jumping. After you knock them down you can quickly dash down there and land a couple quick strikes before they get up. I frequently use this against players who are always blocking and wouldn’t normally be vulnerable to knock down abilities. This also works (much to Obi-Wans surprise) it you have lower ground than the opponent.
A next level tip I can think of is taunting. I say this all the time to the people I play with. Many people taunt but they do it for the wrong reason. Taunting an opponent is pretty strategic, especially taunting a good opponent. The entire point is to make the opponent angry, it makes them reckless. I have saved so many targets because the best player on the enemy team chose to try and kill me instead of the target.
You can also use this to make them taunt and their guard will be down. Therefore, a ranged move, chokes, lightsaber throws etc. They will land a hit, free hits

Absolutely agree about the practice and finding things on your own, movement was the first point in another one of your lightsaber combat guides and I remembered how far I've come in every factor of such combat to the point my friend and I are almost unbeatable in 2v2, it all started with me saying "the defensive player almost always wins over the aggressive" at the time it was simply me saying "spammers get wrecked" but I've come to understand far more since on my way to levelling almost all heroes and villains to 100+ with only showdown, that this is all down to the patience required in aggression, defence and movement.
You continuously put out some of the best educational videos for this game I have seen. Awesome! It was subtle, but the notion of trying new things in your practice section is key. If you are having a lot of trouble with something and you just keep doing the same thing over and over, you will never overcome it except by coincidence. It is important to have different techniques for different situations. Good opponents will figure out your strategy and they will counter it with something that gives them their best chance to win. If I can tell that a particular player really knows how to counter something I am doing, I will change to a different strategy that I know to be more likely to succeed against their hero of choice and play style. For instance, I was playing HvV and went up against someone who was masterful with Palpatine in Jabba's Palace. In truth, our team was outmatched as a whole. I decided to switch to Rey so my team would get the benefit of my insight ability and I still had the ability to mindtrick and use my speed and increased stamina to deal with Palpatine. Other heroes may have done well too but they weren't available. So basically I drove the guy insane by not giving him a second to breath, landing hits in combination with well timed blocking all along the way and widdling him down to his demise. By taking his dominance out of the picture, the rest of my team could be productive and eventually I forced the good player to do something different allowing us to get a victory. Big props to the observation with how the environment affects blocking BTW! It sort of explains why I don't have a problem with my block like a lot of players report. I feel more comfortable fighting in parts of the map that I can really dodge around on so I tend to direct all my combat into those areas as much as possible and they tend to be flat areas. I don't think I would have ever figured out that the environment was changing the status of my block. Great observation!
Sometimes the terrain itself makes certain situations more difficult than they should be. Blocking in mid air seems like an easy fix to me. Also I feel like we should be able to swing a lightsaber with no stamina, even if it’s slow and/or weak. It seems ridiculous at times when both fighting saber users run out of stamina and abilities so the only thing left to do is run away
You can be gassed out and still be able to swing a stick. When you run and run out of stamina you can still lightly jog and do some small actions. If you fight irl when you’re out of stamina do you just lower your guard and forget how to throw even a weak punch while you regain stamina?
The best tip I can give is, Have the mind set of the characters you are playing, it's very helpful and it boosts performance, like a positive self talk and adrenaline
I've noticed a huge thing with dueling is that if your hits are connecting or your getting spammed sometimes your dodge doesn't work the animation won't let you get away and the way to counter that if your not dead already is to jump out of the situation you might take damage but at least you can get clear and begin dodging again. Also the other tip is when your running low on stamina your abilities become a huge asset to not only help eliminate your opponent but also sort of create a window of rest for your stamina so you can recover some of it. you have to find that fine balance between using your blade and your abilities in coordination with your stamina each character is different and so is their recovery time. you learn how to behave accordingly to the characters play style
Though I didn't learn anything new, I appreciate you putting this together and I'm sure many people will learn from it. It's videos like this + practice that have helped me to have such a deep understanding of this game and how to properly use saber heroes.
A little trick I use especially with Dooku isdouble press attack, this will go 3 hits, then short jump attack in mid air (not planning to hit) then as soon as you land, attack which automatically goes to your dash slash, then back into double press attack then to shock. It wipes out any hero if you start it off with a hit.
Heres some tips: Mix it up, for instance, attack dodge attack spin-attack dodge, the point is to give some time for things to recover, so you have an extra spin attack when needed etc. Use the unorthodox, contrary to the above tip, it may be beneficial to use three spin attacks in a row, especially if they don't expect it. Lower your guard for a split second, this will cause your opponent to waste an ability. After a successful block, you should attack once then go back to blocking. This usually does damage. You should be offensive. Not to say you should always attack, but you should work on getting into a good position. (High ground.) Dash through your opponent and back, this will turn them around and give you a moment to attack. Some have turned their back to me and dashed backwards, exposing my back to an attack. Use the environment. For instance, a good ambush point is around corners. Wait with your lightsaber off (press G on PC). Or use a pillar to block while you recover stamina. Sneak attacks work. Try approaching an enemy from the rear by jumping and landing behind them while your saber is off. Don't use a jump attack as it makes noise. Works best with Rey's insight. Some force abilities make your opponent wait, use Obi-Wans push to buy time to recover stamina and health. Learn from your opponent.
also another tip: when you throw your light saber as vader or mual make sure your far from a wall when your hitting your target because if the saber hits the wall it wont come back for a 2nd hit and basically just teleport back to your hand. so if you wanna hit your target make sure their away from a wall so the saber can do a 2nd hit
I’m not sure if it’ll help anyone else, but I struggled with blocking and dodging in saver combat. If you haven’t already, I would recommend changing your “Soldier Buttons” to Alternate. This really made everything more accessible and easier to do everything. That would include dodging. Hope this helps!
Just a question, what exactly makes a player a pro in this game? Knowing every glitch in the game? I played the other day with a game that consider himself a pro and I played better then him and I don't consider myself a pro at all.
Lol there are no pros in this game. Nobody plays Battlefront professionally, if someone calls themselves a pro they just think they're good at the game. This game is way too casual of an experience
Another tip is to use your dodges, whenever I play saber characters, I make sure I’m constantly moving if I’m not blocking. Time then right and you can dodge behind your opponent and get a free hit. And make sure you conserve them too, if you get hit, don’t spam dodge.
As a relative noob I mostly spam dash attack and add some strikes. Rarely do I block another hero if I can evade. Whenever I block I die. It's too laggy of a mess for me for the block to be predictable. Learned a few things here though, thank you.
This is more of a follow up to this video since some game updates have been published: 1.) you’re 100% correct; the game doesn’t recognize elevation changes properly. This doesn’t just affect blocks but strike and ability detection. Maps like Falluca are especially bad for this. There’s very little you can do about it at this point, the maps are stunning for their visuals (except Scariff which is a low res port) but they’re not the best for the mechanics of this game. 2.) jump shots are a bit different anymore. Most players, especially experienced ones don’t do much high jumping because it exposes you to abilities. That said the nature of “jump strikes” now is more of a hit detection exploit. This sees players making short jumps right in front of a blocking saber opponent in an attempt to see the hit detection recognize the strike. This is a haphazard and doesn’t register consistently because it’s not a proper mechanic. 3. Timing .. this is probably the worst aspect of the game. Pre-TROS update all of the information in this video regarding timing was correct, now it isn’t. In TROS update the Devs modified the Dodge to Attack timing, increasing the delay and creating a horrible environment. Many of us on the EA forums were successful in getting the Devs to modify this but in doing so the timing aspect of the game is still clumsy. Combine this with the server state and the “timing” elements are a mashup that feels more RNG than proper timing. The game still does stack strikes and abilities but does so in a slow and shoddy manner, combined with the input lag this creates a lack of proper feedback to the player. 4.) Going a little further on the timing aspect above is Character imbalance. In an effort to try and fix underwhelming players characters like Leia, Hann, Rey, Luke, Vader, GG, Fett, etc have seen adjustments to their stats .. unfortunately they’re not all balanced. Luke, for example, has such a high mobility the current strat IS to spam a combination of Strike+Dodge+Dash in any order. This will see Luke not register most strikes and abilities used against him, regardless of timing. This is because the server is unable to Resolve Luke in the space and time he’s supposed to be in. A similar strat exists for Rey but moreso is rooted on her strike distance being so high. Characters at this point are highly imbalanced and we see a lot of players gravitating to the broken and exploitable characters, assuming they’re supposed to work this way. 5. Be careful with the “lock on” aspect of the game. The Devs have made changes to the camera behavior that does impact lock on as well as hit detection. For example, you can rotate your camera 180 degrees and take a strike or a shot, resulting in your character triggering a hit marker while facing the wrong way or a shot blast coming from your back. The animations and game mechanics are out of sync; this is also why you’ll see blaster users continuing to fire shots even as they’re being knocked down or still in the knock down animation. After TROS update we’ve seen a lot of changes to gameplay logic that seemingly failed to take the overall mix of characters into account; this combined with the server state has made the game very inconsistent so while many of the tips in this video are still very much good & relevant; don’t be surprised if you see different results.
I have a few ideas for you, try to hardwire your Xbox to your modem, look under your ea account in settings and check if your ping search I believe it is, is at the lowest ms or is at default, and if your TV has a game mode on it make sure and have that on! I have that shit on and I could tell that the "input latency" I believe they call it went away or at least shortened way the hell up! Hope this works for you!
You can also open the ground attacks by using a low jump attack used as close as possible before touching the ground. Works best with quick guys like maul or Luke. U do double dmge in like no time if its needed or if u want so
The first tip was taken into account by Darth Vader, instead of trying to fight Kenobi on uneven ground he made sure their next fight was on a completely flat floor
To give you an idea of the fighting style of the characters define thier lightsaber form (kylo ren + rey is shii-cho, Dooku is makashi, obi-wan has soresu which I expect him to have the highest stamina pool.) don't underestimate form 1 because that is whst kylo's attacks are.
Here's a tip: Invest in a gaming mouse where you can alter your DPI settings in real time. :) I use a logitech g502, you can even put tiny little weights one at a time in it to get the feeling of moving it just right. A gamin keyboard with *cherry MX mechanical* keys is also key for fast presses. I'll stop there :)
Best tips I got for you guys When playing As Blaster Heroes use 20 sensitivity for perfect aim When playing As Lightsaber Heroes use 1000000 sensitivity On a real note a higher Lightsaber sensitivity is better countless times I’ve beat sweaty tryhards because I turn so fast when they dash behind me they get hit every time and usually die quick because they keep Dashing non stop Try it and make them rethink spamming B/O button
Loving these tips. Will practice them. Im not the best on the ground...i do seem to do mich better on starfighter but i want to improve my ground game and these videos really help.
As stupid as it sounds, I've been playing this game from day one, and I never noticed how such a subtle change in the terrain, can change the hit box.Wow, this is groundbreaking thanks dude👍👍
Here’s the game’s biggest flaw with Heroes as a whole-force locking. What is force locking? It’s when multiple abilities stack a knockdown effect to completely immobilize you. The worst combination is Anakin, Luke, and Obi wan. Anakin initiates with a pull into heroic might, and Luke follows up with a repulse into force push, and obi wan is given time to charge his push. What can you do here? If you didn’t counter the pull, you may as well just put down your controller, because your survival odds are very slim
Quality video. But by swinging once at a time you manually decreased your dps drastically, and if you spam even for several swings, the game will always let you swing 1 or 2 extra times, leaving you exposed. The system still needs a lot of bug and glitch fixes.
I don't think DPS is as important with saber combat because heroes take a second to heal. Even if you're only doing 120 damage every few seconds, as long as you're stopping the enemy from healing you still have the upper hand. that's why I recommend one-swing because like you said, the input stacks. It's better to get a clean, accurate hit than 3 wild swings and missing each one.
The problem is that there isn't too much chance when you can do a prolonged duel with someone. You need to kill some quickly or he'll notice you and put up a proper defence, or his teammate will come to aid. Also the stunlock as annoying as it is, it can let you get some quick strikes in before the enemy can do anything. I actually suggest, when you see an enemy not blocking, or when you alreay landed a hit and caused the stunlock, spam for a few times. If you can connect the stunlock then it's an easy kill, and if you can't and he successfully dodged/blocked, switch to defensive mode and try to probe his weakness otherwise.
It’s so weird seeing people jump each other in that game mode. Over on xbox we fight 1 on 1 and our teammates never jump in. It’s an honor code that everyone seems to agree on when playing that 2v2 hero vs villain game mode lol
You forgot: *Use your dash to your fullest advantage* meaning while attacking, you don't always have to stop & go directly to block, mix it up if you have to, me I attack 2-3 times dash behind while turning towards them at the same time, do the same then dash behind/aside again maybe twice to really confuse them, repeat etc. I find this combo to be highly effective towards... less.. skilled opponents I guess. Lol the veterans usually catch on quick though
Great tips, well explained, we need less spammers and more strategic fighters to keep the game competitive and fun, well done. Hope to play with you again!
TIP FOR HAN! His best ability is DODGE he’s best at distance (usually) so if ur in a fight vs someone like Vader throw bomb down roll away blow up bomb then shoot with rapid fire he’s a tank like that I love Han
Love the video, thanks! HvV was my fav mode but there are just too many bugs with abilities so I’m on C S now. Even in your vid they bugged out a few times
Great video, Very helpful, and I know most of this from experience like the Terrain-then theirs the hit detection because you could be in the Air and Die from a Hit that Shouldn’t have hit you, The Damage should only be Legit if your on the ground not in the Air unless you actually see it hit you instead of a few sparks
I’ve suspected terrain was partly an issue in strikes or even Force powers breaking through my block. Although, I’m pretty sure it’s been on level field too. Not 100% certain, without replay. I could have stepped on a thing without realizing. Still, that level of height shouldn’t effect the block. Does encourage to try and back an enemy to a ledge to open them up.
It's not just the terrain as you say. I believe internet connection is another big player in this. Every time I dodge I always find myself getting "Magnetized" back in to a saber hit I clearly evaded. The game is bugged or broken.
Crazy the changes from back then. - This mode doesn't exist in this form anymore. - UI has changed a bit - Maul's throw is vertical no more - Obi=Wans rush has changed The devs doing work!

There's stamina in real life why wouldn't a game that represents combat have it?
You can be gassed out and still be able to swing a stick. When you run and run out of stamina you can still lightly jog and do some small actions. If you fight irl when you’re out of stamina do you just lower your guard and forget how to throw even a weak punch while you regain stamina?
If damage also depended on stamina then it would add more depth into stamina preservation
1st BF2 content creator who knows what he's talking about. I'm proud.
My favourite part, is when I’m matched against people 130 levels higher than me.
omg I am so glad I saw this in your list. I always wondered why I was being killed so fast when I know I was blocking. You rock.
I’ve been looking forward to this 😊
"But you're better than that; you're patient, and that's why you'll win".
6:05 unless you are facing obi wan you need to keep the pressure or he will regenerate back half his health bar
Could you make a Video for each Hero/Villain where you show the best combinations of abilities+doge+Jump for them.
doge
Waddup fam?
The best tip I can give is, Have the mind set of the characters you are playing, it's very helpful and it boosts performance, like a positive self talk and adrenaline
Nailed it with the terrain man!! Often wondered that, and I think the same thing happens when cancelling out a whole host of heroes abilities
What gets me mad is the amount of people stealing my kills in hvv I get so frustrated lol
Me too
This is an underrated channel and I’ve been with you for a long time. We need to put more people on this mans channel
Turning your sensitivity up helps
I was just asking myself why my blocks weren't working an hour ago on one of my first online duels and this comes into my recommended. Nice
Heres some tips:
Mix it up, for instance, attack dodge attack spin-attack dodge, the point is to give some time for things to recover, so you have an extra spin attack when needed etc.
(High ground.)
Dash through your opponent and back, this will turn them around and give you a moment to attack.
Star Bazaar you're really great with Obi-Wan Lol. You might not be comp overall according to you, but you are with Kenobi
This is more of a follow up to this video since some game updates have been published:
1.) you’re 100% correct; the game doesn’t recognize elevation changes properly.
Any tips on how to reduce ping/lag? This seems to be the only game that has crazy lag
starfox69 what about bf5 though
The servers are horrible. It toook me long too get a match for GA and HvV
Every other game I play has little to no lag but this game seems always have something going on
Have you tried turning "Share Usage Data" under EA account settings off? I did that, and noticed immediate improvement.
Hey I found your tips and videos really educational and at the same time soothing and fun to watch nice job
Almost at 15k! Well deserved 👏👏👏
Awesome tutorial man, many thanks for the great help it’s provided!
Don't stop tell us more 😼
I can’t help but imagine what KOTOR as an open world multiplayers would be like on this engine... I’m trembling
The air attacks are especially helpful. If you pick up Super Smash Bros it really helps train your timing as far as jumping and aerials
0:00 what servers do you play on? If I try those moves on someone, they kill me first with maxed out star cards. Do i just play on the sweaty servers?
no i always get on them too
Advanced tip: if you see anakin and you're below half health, run and hope he allows you to survive
So true... 😂🤦
Best tips I got for you guys
When playing As Blaster Heroes use 20 sensitivity for perfect aim
When playing As Lightsaber Heroes use 1000000 sensitivity
On a real note a higher Lightsaber sensitivity is better countless times I’ve beat sweaty tryhards because I turn so fast when they dash behind me they get hit every time and usually die quick because they keep Dashing non stop Try it and make them rethink spamming B/O button
This video has golden images and moments of Obiwan's once useful mindtrick.
there'a actually one "p" word i like more..
Yeah, pretzels.
Mmmmm, pretzels.
Loving these tips. Will practice them. Im not the best on the ground...i do seem to do mich better on starfighter but i want to improve my ground game and these videos really help.
You are such a good teacher
Remembering the good days when jump attacking someone went through their block, was a not so well known way of dealing with block spammers.
I knew ^^ it was awesome
I wanna know why people taunt one when they kill
Keep up the good work bro
Thanks bazar for helping the newbies
It’s so weird seeing people jump each other in that game mode. Over on xbox we fight 1 on 1 and our teammates never jump in. It’s an honor code that everyone seems to agree on when playing that 2v2 hero vs villain game mode lol
Thanks for the tips I really do need to be more patient
Blocking with full stamina so people will jump and attack in the air somehow going through hit box detection at its best 👍🏼
This video helped a lot thanks!
You forgot: *Use your dash to your fullest advantage*
meaning while attacking, you don't always have to stop & go directly to block, mix it up if you have to, me I attack 2-3 times dash behind while turning towards them at the same time, do the same then dash behind/aside again maybe twice to really confuse them, repeat etc.
I find this combo to be highly effective towards... less.. skilled opponents I guess. Lol the veterans usually catch on quick though
I love this tutorial. Amazing teacher
Bruh you’re a pro. No doubt about it.
Very usefull advices! I like your content
Now that the game has updated quite a bit, I think this video would be very helpful if it too were updated.
Thanks for the tips man, I'd like more videos like this if you didn't mind
2:13 reason why Obi Wan knew the fight was over with Anakin
You actually had some spot on tips it'd be fun to try and fight you could be interesting
- UI has changed a bit
- Maul's throw is vertical no more
- Obi=Wans rush has changed
The devs doing work!
Good video man, helpful info
Wow really helpful guide, good tips I’ll use!
The tips are brilliant
