MATT GOODWIN: How LUXURY Beliefs Are BACKFIRING on the ELITE Class

- In this clip from the @winston_marshall Show we're diving into a critical issue that's been gaining traction among populist parties across Europe-green policies and environmentalism. We're seeing Green parties struggle in the European parliamentary elections, and it's no surprise why. Policies like Germany's nuclear plant closures and the UK's net zero initiatives are hitting working people hard, driving up energy costs and leaving many disillusioned. This video explores why these policies, celebrated by elites, are causing a political backlash and fuelling the rise of populism. Stay tuned to understand the real impact of climate policies on ordinary voters and how it's shaping the political landscape.

folks, it's normal people that will bear the costs of climate change, it's normal people that do bear the cost of air pollution in city centres. elite hypocrisy is disgusting but normal people will pay the costs now or later. remember its also elites that own and run oil companies. it was those companies that first realised climate change was a problem and those companies that spent billions pretending that it's not. you can moan on the internet about hypocrisy or you can vote for sensible policies that will help future generations of normal people
Some years ago the democracy was respected by journalists and big media. If a party hears to the voice of the voters this was a great plus during elections.
Now you frame the parties as "populist".
You should never underestimate the intelligence of the viewers....
The net zero policy was created by the Greek philosophers. They invented the technocrats. Elites have been doing this since the beginning of western society

As they become old and irrelevant, they look for new ways to get attention. Claiming to care about the environment is one strategy.
we are being morally lectured about change by people who fly round the world in private jets, are chauffer driven to their destinations where they then tell us how much damage we are doing just living our lives.

DEI is exactly the same. A complete waste of money so people at the top can feel good
DEI = Didn't Earn It
Destructive, Egregious, Incompetence
In both cases not just a waste of money, but also a direct threat to ordinary people's economical existence. DEI, the green madness, and immigration politics are so immoral and downright inhumane, it's beyond comprehension. But as you said, people at the top are doing it to feel good, without even flinching. It's utterly disgusting and wrong on every thinkable level.

This. Yes, there are useful idiots that support the latest agenda, but it is obvious that a huge portion of what is driving this is profit. From Green to Ukraine, trillions of dollars are being spent that OBVIOUSLY will not achieve the stated goals. The population is seen much of their tax dollars spent on things that provide nothing, if not make things worse. It has to be because someone is profiting.

They predicted a New Ice Age in the 1970s
Not surprising if you consider 1979 was the coldest year in the previous 150. But where do NASA and the climate alarmists begin thier temperature graphs? 1980, as if any year was likely to be colder than 1979, and guess what? Temperatures went up!
And why would you use 1980 as the baseline when it is supposedly the industrial revolution that has caused the uptick in co2. That started centuries before.
@@alanpartington2540You can go back a lot further than 1979. For all their mockery of young earth creationists, they sure do ignore most of that 4 billion years. 😂
without the working class how can the elite make money!!???? productivity is what makes an economy duh!!
It is one of the characteristics of old empires to squander the money or invested wealth accumulated by several previous generations. They usually continue to have a high standard of living (that became higher in the first place as the productivity was becoming higher), while their productivity decreases and is replaced by imports. This coincides with the import of a new lower class that can live beneath the means of the original empire's population and can sustain higher birthrates.
If you take Rome for example, their conquest and expansion begins 300 years before they turn into an empire, when they were a local productive power, but by the time that the empire is founded, romans were already a minority in their own city and relied on imports for some things like grain, having other ethnicities such as the italian gauls and the greeks mantain the power structure. As the centuries went by, the lower classes became more germanic, carthaginian and middle eastern and adopted the counterculture and opposite religion to the romans and their allies, with christianity taking over in 391ad, when they burned the libraries and tore down the statues. By that point, only the power structure remained, but the ethnic romans had been gone for 400 years already, and their gaulish and greek successors for 100 years.
So, expansion phase was from 300bc to around the year 0, by that point Rome has no longer many romans, but most everybody still keeps the culture going, then stability phase is from around the year 0 to 250-300ad, when the crisis of the third century becomes evidence of an underlying problem, then decadence period, from 300 to 391/410/476, take your pick, this period is characterised by a strong opposition to roman culture and eventual revolution by the christians.
For britain, it seems that you are around the beginning of the "formal" or "political" empire; since all the conquest was done the last 350 years and now you are having more political corruption and population problems. Maybe this time its the poles and ex-yugoslavians the ones to keep british culture going for another century, but it seems that the timeframe is reduced and that you maybe have another 30 years before the other religion turns against the culture.
I like these short bites on the longer video!

There is no such thing as ELITES.
They are just human beings with higher resources.
This in itself does not mean they arr any better than other humans.
Please stop referring to them as ELITE.
"IPCC AR6 concluded: There is low confidence in the emergence of drought frequency in observations, for any type of drought, in all regions.
it states “low confidence” for any increase in floods, rainstorms, landslides, drought, “fire weather,” cyclones, hurricanes, tornadoes, sand and dust storms, hail, sea level rise, coastal flooding, and erosion.
It also indicates low confidence regarding a decrease in snow, glaciers, ice sheets, or lake, river, and sea ice, beyond the Arctic region."
Correct, but popular culture is operating on 25 year old information that the very IPCC has rebutted, such as runaway global warming. Pollution of the land and oceans seems a more pressing concern than any of it, if we are talking enviromentalism. Populations and birthrates seem the more pressing issue overall.
When the hippies became college professors....that was the beginning of our troubles
The problem actually started when the GI's returning home from WWII jumped in the hay with the Mrs. Which is why for my money the title of greatest generation should go the Revolutionary or Civil War gang. Any generation that could burp the boomer's into existence loses the right to have that title bestowed on them. And I say that as someone who got lumped in with that bunch even though I wasn't a product of the big-bang that happened between 1945 - 1947. But that's me.
@@itinerantpatriot1196 Correct, I'm 71 and was born outside the western world but was educated and worked in the west most of my life. The greatest generation were very serious and rigorous, so recieving a scientific education from them was one of the best things that happened to me, but it seems that on the family and community aspects, they were a serious failure in most of the western world. Reminds me of an old poem that went "fathers of lice, grandfathers to nothingness"
Elton John and Bernie Taupin put it quite eloquently in their song, "Burn Down the Mission".
When you prioritize stuff that isn't the priority, don't be surprised when your society malfunctions.
Having watched earlier today in the UK the BBC lunchtime 'Politics Live' programme in which a load of lefties (except the Conservative MP) talked about Labours net zero strategy by 2030, described as "perfectly possible" by a carefully chosen young professor. Not one of them had any engineering qualifications or scientific knowledge, they all spoke complete rubbish with an attitude of - this is simply how it is all going to happen. The usual claim that renewables are far cheaper went through completely unchallenged. We know telling outright lies is part of the green strategy, but just how are we going to stop this? The cost of this ludicrous experiment which will ultimately fail badly will be massive, and picked up by ordinary people. God help us.

So, going back to classical culture? Finally...
That would imply changing the values of the society to properly edify the individual instead of turning them into little antihuman weirdos. Now, that's a challenge, specially since what most people consider going back to tradition means going back to christianity, which is the system of values that creates those weidos in the first place. You need a renaissance or enlightenment style of value revolution. It's getting a classic strong society again or keeping humility and meekness until total replacement.

Higher CO2 means a greener planet.
Sure, until you reach 1000-1200 ppm, which is where most people start falling asleep, and above 1500-2000 people start dying of asphyxia-induced cardiac failure. This is the actual concern with CO2, although we have around 150 years until that becomes a serious problem, since cognitive impairment is noticed at 800ppm already. What I would really like to know, in addition to building more nuclear power stations which I agree with, is what would you propose to do about global warming? A lot of people in the populist movement think it is a simple matter that it is all a hoax. Do you agree with that? If not (for the sake of argument) then global warming will adversely impact everyone regardless of whether they are "elite".
vote reform
The reason they are luxury beliefs is that they are making prices higher, rather than offering alternatives, which rich people aren't bothered by. What do tthe upper classes care if gas is $10 per gallon? if a car has a huge tax? If their energy bills go up $200 a month? In the U.S. at least we might be willing to accept these green policies if they weren't simply punitive measures for things we have no choice but to use. I can't get to work without a car, we have a VERY limited public transit system. Most houses are NOT built for energy efficiency or keeping warm/cool. I looked into solar panels, even if my HOA allowed them ( they don't ) they would cost me thousands (more likely tens of thousands) of dollars to install and maintain...it would take decades for the savings on my bills to make up for that huge investment. These well intentioned measures do more to punish the poor than help the environment. And don't get me started on "Just Stop Oil". These protestors are so egregious in their behaviors and destruction that there are no words.
Now I understand the title. You think "elites" are those with an education. This is the new definition which seems to be in favor with those involved in misdirecting attention. The economic costs are being borne unequally, that is the issue. Tax Big Oil as you should, and problem effing solved, _children._
