Yep, Cancelled my Ranger order several months ago. I have absolutely no interest in the Kia Tasman based on looks alone. The BYD Shark 6 on the other hand looks amazing and am very close to ordering (maybe after a few reviews).

I feel like this Ute had so much potential I don't know this 2.2 engine, but having driven a 2 litre amarok with an 8 speed auto for the last 7 years and nearly 200000km on the clock, I don't think the smaller engine is the worst thing in the world. Maybe suiting people that aren't necessarily towing massive caravans, remote off-roading and any "hardcore" off roaring. I do think the 350kg tow ball weight and 3.5t towing is a bit ambitious. The interior looks likes a nice place to be, which is good because it means you can't see the exterior. It's a horrendously awful looking vehicle, I feel like a few small changes could make it look alright, but as is, kinda sucks. I do hope they work out a few issues, as more daul cab Ute's in the market wouldn't hurt
South African here... This car is ugly. I see that they were trying this new age rugged look for SUVs and Bakkies (Trucks/Utes), but that front and the lights just missed the trick and spoil the whole thing
Looks are subjective, but one thing's for sure, you will not confuse the Tasman with anything else on the road. It's undeniably recognizable as a Kia though.

It’s got better numbers than the current D Max / Bt50 and they sell alright. The 4jj1/3 engines in the isuzu/mazda are known for their reliability so i guess that’s why they sell well. The Hyundai/Kia ‘R’ 2.2L diesel has been around since 2009 and is also very reliable and a-lot smoother than the 4jj1/3 and happier to rev. *I’m a mechanic and own both a current D Max and a Santa Fe with the same 2.2L diesel.*

I'm looking at getting a new Ute, but with that size motor, it's out of the race for me. If it would have had a V6 or 2.8L I would have not worried about the looks department.
I think I'm alone, but I like the way the sandy coloured one looks. It looks terrible in all black, so it was an odd choice to choose black as the launch colour. My biggest complaint is the power and torque figures (especially torque). It's probably quite liveable, but not very competitive and I would have thought it needed to outdo the competition in order to get decent market share. All in all, I imagine we'll see more BYD Sharks on the road than this thing
Agree the sand colour could be ok or at least the best option, and black is definitely the worst way to show it off and the worst looking Ute I’ve seen… pity cause i love the interior.

Ugly is subjective. I think they are going for an individual maybe even iconic design. Just has to grow on us. Could end up being a cult car, who knows.
It looks like the designers were inspired by the Oshkosh M1070 and/or similar vehicles. It’s also giving old Soviet military vehicle vibes (e.g., the ZIL 131 6x6 and Ural-4320).
As a person who HATES pickups, I love the absurdist look of the Tasman. It's just a design that makes you laugh. In a way, it's the only truck that you can drive and not look like you are overcompensating for something

Kia is baffling In terms of powertrain it’s weird they chose to use the 2.2l diesel that’s found in most Hyundai/kia suvs in Korea, they have an suv that (would do really well here honestly) Kia Mohave with around 550nm. If they are aiming for the ranger and hilux why not use that engine,,there’s more than enough space in the Tasman for a 3.0l turbo v6 that’s in the Mohave 🤷🏾♂️
Kia have said it was deliberate to not use a v6 because of NVES. They said it's not completely off the cards but HIGHLY unlikely and most likely won't happen.

I think a good purchase, fuel consumption is my main consideration, I don't do heavy towing - no issue with engine or looks.

I just cant comprehend why the fuck they wouldn't use the front end of the Sorento. The side wheel flares as ugly as sin that they are, the storage is nice but are not actually innovative, it's been done before.
Overall the entire exterior looks like a cheap Chinese knockoff and just screams for me to never consider buying one. I would sooner own a Mahindra

That front end exterior is proper ugly - maybe if the headlights are positioned closer to the bonnet, might look a bit better, but still man that’s ugly “fck me”
