You're welcome, the needle goes through the fabric that you wrapped the headband with, it doesn't go through the plastic. You'll pass the needle through the fabric, try it out, you can let me know if you need further explanation

You can use any other fabric that is thick, if the fabric is not really thick, you can add some type of lining and interfacing to help it become thicker and still use it
