Community Spotlight | 2003 Mercedes-Benz G500 | Kirby Gonzales

In this episode, we interview Kirby Gonzales from California with his 2003 Mercedes-Benz G500 overland build. Kirby tends to plan extended weekend travels in this rig with his family, but has been on a 5-week trip all over the Western United States.
Kirby enjoys the G500 and its capability and reliability when he's in the backcountry. And, in his experience, parts have been easier to find than other rigs he's owned in the past.
In 2025, he plans to travel to Alaska. In preparation for this trip, he intends to do a conversion on this build that allows access to the tent inside the vehicle for a better-suited vehicle for wintertime travel.
