Thanks for video idea @sampopkin
It’s crazy how there is somehow a new Vox amp in every video
Legendary collection Paul! Really enjoyed the rundown of the guitar collection and the mods you’ve added. Easily one of the greatest Beatles collections out there! Also really excited to see the new videos on the epiphone Rivoli, 6120, 425 and the amps!
Thank you Luke!!!! I’m gonna try getting something out in the next few weeks on them! I appreciate the kind words as always 👍
Let’s goooo
First Sam, then Paul...if my guitars weren't packed away, I'd do one...
Drool Fest 2024, let's goooooooo!
I look forward to watching your gear breakdown!
really enjoyed seeing your collection, thank you for sharing !
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Very enjoyable, Paul! Really looking forward to the video on your amps!
Coming soon! Thanks Perry!
Man all those Vox amps are beautiful! I'd love to own an AC100 someday
Brilliant
Beautiful and diverse collection, thanks for sharing! ✌️
Thanks for watching!
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend Paul ❤😊
Thank you! You too!
@@guitargearconnection also I am sorry to hear hugs also praying for you also about your father RIP
Thank you! Greatly appreciate that!
Jaysus! I thought I was doing good with 15 amps and 3 of them Vox. Respect!!
Interesting collection
Nice! Love it Paul!
Thanks!
Brilliant collection….
Many thanks!
All Ricks pre 2009 I believe used a conversion varnish that would do weird things, especially in humid conditions, just like your 75th model. I have a 1999 360-12 V64 and it did the same thing yours did. The fingerprints and the smudgy feel. I sent it to a Rick specialist luthier who had to take it apart and wet sand it. The problem went away and remained stable especially after being stored in air conditioned spaces.
Really enjoyed this video! You’ve got a really cool collection.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it
I had no particular need to retain authenticity, so I put lighter strings on my 1991 325. Rather than mess with the Rickenbacker truss rod, I just tuned it up to A Standard and retained the right intonation. I called it my Frank Zappa guitar and tried to learn to do that circular motion hitherto unknown..
What I need is a UL7120, but they were surely all snatched up by you collectors. I just want the power, maybe just tap a D.I. off of the back of one of my little ULs and run into a Hiwatt. 🤔
What i wouldn't give to record every beatles song with that gear! Great stuff
Ngl we should call this guy “The VOX God”
4:09 I don't think that was a mistake per se. Sure the first batch of 1996s shipped to Rose-Morris had the 2 o' clock position f-hole, but the ones that came after had the 1 o' clock position.
John Fogerty from CCR has a 1968 one with the f-hole in the 1 o' clock position which he bought in the first week of 1969, he put a bigsby, bowtie bridge (just like Lennon with this V81), grover tuners and a PAF pickup in the bridge position. Before it he had a 325 jetglo
That's some collection Paul!😍 The closest Beatles guitar I have is my '04 Tennessee Rose which I love. I've had a 350V63 since '96 but I'm probably going to let it go because it just doesn't get much playing. The 325s are too small for me!😄 Thanks, looking forward to the 'Wall of Vox' video!👍👍
Thank you! Love the reissue Gretschs. Japan builds some of the best guitars.
Brilliant video mate; as much as I like The Beatles (anything past 1965), I’m a big The Who fan. I’ve got a Blue Rickenbacker 330, and was lucky enough to get a Rickenbacker Pete Townsend limited edition. Also have a Gibson SG and a Les Paul, which Pete Townsend used to play. All the best from the UK mate, really enjoyed this video
Thank you! Peter rocks. Love the 330’s!
Nice collection, all examples are in really great condition. My collection isn’t quite so exacting. I have two German Hofner 500 basses but both of mine are Clubs, one has the Cavern spacing and the other is 64 specs. My Casino is a Coupe that has had most of the parts changed. Another of my basses is a 67 Gibson EB-2c and not a Rivoli. My Rosewood(ish) Tele had a Padauk body that made the guitar weigh 13lbs, I changed out the body so it has zero Harrison resemblence. I have a similar LPjr (madison square garden) that has a Lollar CC pickup, mine has a Bigsby too. My 1996 J-160e which I use in a bluegrass band has the Montana specs, solid woods and X bracing. The closest exact example I own is a Harrison Gretsch Duo Jet.
You see I can get the sounds but certainly not the looks. I often use a Mkii Vox AC-50 too. I build and repair amps so I have lots of amps to choose from.
I love to collect nice tube mics. I have three AKG C28b tube mics with two short extensions (Get Back mic)and an AKG C60 which was the Sullivan show mic, sadly I can’t find a wind gag ball.
You got one hell of a collection! Love the AC50’s. The mid 90’s J-160e’s play amazing and sound great being in standard spec. Hell yeah man thanks for sharing!
When I see 3:54, I think of a Bigsby B5, a Gibson nickel PAF at the bridge, modified wiring, and Creedence grinding out "Crazy Otto" to several hundred beery and potsy Fillmorians!
That’s a really nice collection honestly. You should do one for the amps, that’d be be very interesting. Also Lollar I think makes very high quality rickenbacker style pickups, you should check them out.
Thanks! Will do!
I just want all the Voxes. I would like to own every AC30 on earth. LOL! I also would love to have a truly vintage AC10. Those things are incredible sounding. I've got the modern AC10 and it's great but the vintage one would be crazy cool. I've got two modern AC30's as well but my holy grail is a vintage AC30. They are so absolutely glorious. Gimme a Vox any day and keep all your Fenders that seem to all sound the same. Every Vox seem to have its own identity or something. They're just incredible sounding amps.
Vox rules! The modern ac30’s sound great and they have tons of power. Can never go wrong with any year
Awesome video! Among others, I have a Country Classic as well. Terada makes some amazing guitars. The gold hardware is a headache to keep clean, however. Any cleaners you found that help?
Thanks Brian! No I don’t clean it lol I like that aged look, and I’m lazy 🤣
Fantastic
Thank you! Cheers!
@@guitargearconnection Btw, did u sell off the Rick 450/12 and 1993 lefty Hofner? We've seen it before but not in this video.
@@joestarr05 dang I’m gonna call you Mr. Eagle Eyes! Great catch. I did sell those. The left handed Hofner I sold years ago, maybe 2016 or so. The 450/12 I just got rid of it about 4 months ago. Just didn’t play the 450 enough to justify keeping it
@@guitargearconnection 🤣
@@guitargearconnection Why wasn't the Epiphone Texan kept?
I love the collection! Do you happen to have that 325 wiring harness link?
Unfortunately the guy doesn’t have any up for sale at the moment! I got it off eBay under “325c58 harness”.
Great job with the video! Had no idea you were using an iPhone!
Thanks! Yeah unfortunately I don’t have any kind of nice camera. The iPhone has been holding up pretty well, but I need something else lol
That... is a LOT of Voxs.
Gotta have Vox!
On your 330 problem put it out in the Sun to dry for a couple of hours then use 3M Trizact wet sand disks 3000 grit and color sand finish then 5000 grit and 8000 grit then buff with wooleypad at 1500 rpm with polishing compound then wax it will look great had to do this with my 4001 bass John Hall is a prick he will do nothing to help he uses Farmed Maple wood and does not dry out properly then uses slow drying finishes hope this helps any questions just contact me
11:56- You could make your Lucy Les Paul a little more authentic by letting it fall off a drum riser.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thats a BEAUTTT
Thanks Marc!!!
What strings are on the 160?
Hi how do the Gibson accoustics sound plugged in ? Thanks enjoyed video
They sound great! If you look at some of my older videos, I did a sound comparison on all the different versions. I also have a bunch of Shorts up that feature it plugged in.
I don’t know what it was about Rickenbacker 6 and 12 string electric guitars but they look great, sound great, but for some odd reason to me the playability of them wasn’t the best. I played one 6 string about 30 years ago, and it didn’t take me long to put it down. I chalked up that experience to it quite possibly not being set up very well. Recently, I played another one and I still didn’t like the way it felt. Don’t know why, I guess it was just me.
The 75th anniversary Rick would look great natural. Perfect excuse for it
100% I thought about this, and I still might! But I’m more leaning towards getting it resprayed since that color is the only color they came in. Idk I’m torn!
@@guitargearconnectionI would say leave it, if it was really only a small batch like that it could be something that makes it rarer in the future
Great collection.
If you could hang out with Paul McCartney for a few hours but it would cost you this guitar collection, would you do it or would you keep the guitars instead??
Hahaha that’s a good question!
I would have to say I’d keep the collection. I would have loved to sit down with John or George instead!
@guitargearconnection Thanks for your reply. I'll let Mr McCartney know!
How does the 66 j160e have no checking whatsoever? I have a 55 j160e and it checks so much, there are parts on the back that have no laqcuer left lol
It’s covered in checking! My lighting isn’t the best so it hides a lot of the imperfections.
Are you sure the Framus Campfire guitar has a spruce back?
Camping King? Yes. 100% spruce. What makes you think it’s something else?
The grain pattern looks more like maple and spruce is generally too soft for an instruments back. I’ve never come across a spruce back on a guitar and violins always employ a hard wood for back because of the strain and the sound post. I’m not saying it couldn’t possibly spruce but it seems unusual.
I know sometimes mail order guitars used what ever wood was available in a factory situation especially if there were supply issues. By the way. I lived your guided tour of Beatles guitars. Do you have any Höfner Clubs in you collection. I have a President and a HCT Club. Not the same as Lennon’s club 40. One day I’ll get one.
I could've swore you had epiphones j160e
I did! Had a 1997 & 2023, but sold both.
@@guitargearconnection whats your opinion on both? They have solid tops and x bracing no? So they must sound “better” than the gibson. The JL signature ones i think had the wrong scale
The Epiphones sound like a traditional acoustic. Just a very bland, common sound. Nothing unique about it. The Gibson’s, and primarily the adjustable bridge ones, have such a cool distinct Beatles sound. Might not be for everyone, but I love it.
As for playability, Gibson hands down wins. The feel of the neck, the larger frets, the colorings, so many different aspects. Don’t get me wrong I do love the Epiphones, but the Gibson is just better in every way.
Une question avez vous assez de vox?
Never enough vox amps!
@@guitargearconnection c est bien ce qu il me semblait il faut que je me décide à en essayer un
No Texan???
I had bought a Chinese one in 2014/2015 and I ended up giving it away lol. It played horrible and had some bad fret issues that developed a few months after buying it. Down the road I might consider getting a vintage one, but it’s a pretty low guitar on my list.
@@guitargearconnection They're making them in the US again.
Pricey, but nice. I have an older one. (It literally fell into my lap!).
I don't understand, why do yo say D d'addario and not just d'addrio. ?
Probably because I was dropped on my head as a kid
