What size tires were the people running that were unhappy with 4.88’s? We went with a 3” JKS lift and 35’s on our ‘23 JT and stayed with stock gear ratio. First off road with it was Slaughterhouse and it was amazing, not one complaint and only a couple very minor rubs. Trying to keep a nice middle ground of doing well off road, but a nice daily driver. Good video and info on the upgrades!
Thanks so much! One was running the same tires we have now 37 STT pros which are large 37s, i could see 4.10s not being enough for them, but 4.88s it seemed a little weird because thats a nice ratio. But yea they told me they didnt like 4.88s and they wish they went 5.13s after the fact. I love slaughterhous. 😀 we might go run it next weekend and hope for some color in the aspen!
5.13 already scheduled for mid November. RCV axle shafts tentative for Jan/2024 ........ the rest TBD ;) Also would a high steer kit help in your scenario ? I have seen people say the angle being less sharp solved their issues
Oh nice! You should do the RCVs yourself. Its super easy. And good to know how to swap a shaft. 😀 i keep thinking about that, but everyone i wheel with has never had a problem with the drag link, so im thinking its just me. Even random people i meet are fine running stock geometry (for the lift size) but if the RPM doesnt fix it, high steer is the next option. 🤦🏼♂️
RCV's and knuckles sound like a great upgrade, but until I strip out the OEM 4xe CV's, I'm gonna hold off. Just finished getting my lift on from MC, just waiting on lower arms and upper rears to show up. If my steering ever takes a dump, Rock Krawler is gonna be getting a phone call immediately. I'm not super stressed with getting the axle truss done. Not sure about the Gladiator but the 4xe gets the same Dana 44's front and rear that the 392 does because of the extra torque. 5.13's might be overkill on my build since I've got a ton of power on tap, but 4.88's are definitely on my short list for next year. The 4.10's do fine on mine with 37's but I'd rather have the extra peace of mind. Overall a good list, the carplay adapter could've taken a back seat to GMRS mobile but I get it.
I agree with you on the 4xe, they made the front a lot stronger, time will tell on the new CV design though, but they seem solid. When we tested the 4xe on stock 33s the MPG was really bad, so i wonder if thr 5.13s would help there. It would make it crazy torqy though. 😅 the wireless carplay is a cool feature to have if youres doesnt come with it, but thanks for baring with us! We covered the gmrs in our first 5 upgrades video.
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your car to help you better driving, off-road? We're the pro auto lighting company for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
People want what they want , And if you want a gladiator, you want to gladiator.. But I have to wonder if the power wagon is a stronger setup. I would think it would have to be a tougher rig at least in stock form... Maybe not after the upgrades on the Gladiator... But I would think the power wagon would at least start out tougher.
This is a really good point and ive seen some guys take those on some pretty tough trails, but youll never get the flex and travel as a gladiator, if i was looking got more work use, id def go with a powerwagon.
Thank you. You definitely have a new subscriber
