Skypunk looks cool, especially when mixed up with steampunk, biopunk or solarpunk (or all of them)! :D BTW, I'm looking forward to a video about oceanpunk, which is another 'punk'-suffix genre I enjoy a lot!
There was a third edition third party setting for third edition that had some cool ideas (including necromantic airships made of bird-picked bones) and various aerial peoples, with three slim books, but the name escapes me at the moment. There's also Dragon Flyz's toy line and cartoons
I would love to see a video that focuses on Aetherpunk! I’m looking to build a whole home brew campaign setting with Aetherpunk complete with Skyships and warforged.
the things that comes to mind for skypunk is the skyraiders of abarax (i hope my spelling is correct) for 5th edition that was on kickstarter last year, not sure how that project is going. Another thing that comes to mind, even though its a bit more described as biopunk by the creator is "Between clouds" which is small ttrpg where you are a crew of outcasts living on the back of a flying beast traversing a endless world of sky islands and getting involved in and avoiding political machinations over the remaining amounts of land left and trying to avoid getting your flying beast getting poached as its organs are used as fuel for the air ships. A cool skypunk inspiration i can reccomend is the manga and anime kuutei dragons/drifting dragons thats about the crew of a skyship roaming the skies hunting what their world calls dragons to take their parts and sell to communities far off from other civilisations for meat and fuel and to keep their on the ropes ship going and the oddball crew paid. Sort of monsterhunting/whaling focused on the sky as their main enviroment.
Great video! I'm currently working on a new campaign world that borrows a little bit of influence from several punk genras, so your series is being really handy for inspiration. I'm excited for the Dieselpunk video.
@@TheClericCorner My idea was that because the Plane of Air is (relatively speaking) safer to travel through, it's used as a trade route for a lot of interplanar shipping, thus an uptake in piracy. The hardest part has been trying to map everything out in three dimensions haha
Well. Time to recommend a Lancer plant set on basically moostafar where they have floating city that send mechs to the ground to collect for resources which is to inhospitable to actually create cities
@@TheClericCorner actually Lancer is actually a ttrpg that revolves piloting mechs in space check out the anime aldnoah: zero to get an idea. Then add in the fact that instead of ai they have Eldritch horrors in box that aren't aware they are an eldritch horror in a box
I got a low city and a high city : one part on the ground and the other floating in the sky And my players were supposed to get a functioning flying ship at some point, but since the player whose character stole the ship is leaving the group probably for good, I might use the camper van of another player and add a fly option on it... that should motivate them to win lots of money to be able to instal it too.
People complain about the player races with fly speeds all the time. They don't see the opportunity presented by half the party having a fly speed and the other half having access to featherfall, manta glide, hadoozee glide, or homebrewed non magical glide suites that give glide abilities to anyone wearing them. Forget meeting in a tavern. Everyone in the party is the "bridge crew" of a final fantasy or Weatherlight style skyship and have them map out the floating jungle covered earth motes of Pandora.
Cyberpunk: literary style using dystopian future serves as hyperbolic medium through which to speak about modern-day inequalities a la Philip K. Dick. I love how that thing behind you reads just "sky" 🤣
Think it gets the point across 😂
@@TheClericCorner haha it certainly does :)
Storm Hawks, had some pretty solid Skypunk worldbuilding
You might want to check "Skies of Arcadia". It's an amazing game, sadly often forgotten.
Eureka Seven (2005 Anime) inspired me to make a sky punk setting for my 5e game!
I'll have to check that one out!
I’ve been waiting for these videos ever since you did “d&d but punk”. Thanks!
You bet! Might take a small hiatus to finish off some other series, but really want to go over all of them!

Oceanpunk is another fun one to combine with others! Love the mindset!
I can't help but think of the Skytopia arc in One Piece for this. A sea of clouds!
I was looking for ways to flesh out my Studio Ghibli setting and this video arrives like a righteous comet in the sky. Thanks as always!
The divine clerics have heard your prayer!! 🙏

Oh fantastic! Hope your world is really coming together!
Heh, I'm DMing for a party in the Plane of Air right now and they're in a sky pirate city. It's been a blast to think about
Dang! Pirates in the plane of air? Count me in!

Gnarly, what a concept! Might have to try some of these for my campaign
Absolutely!! Skies the limit!
Please make more of these

Sounds like a fun time to me!
Question; could Sci-fi style skypunk be a thing? Like Skypunk but with tech reminiscint of RWBY or quasi starwars?
I'd say it definitely could be. Might be a little lower on the magic and a little higher on the tech, but I could see it working quite nicely.
do you plan on doing more of these
Just did one!
🤠
🪁☁️✈️!!
bro, straight up skylanders
HOW DARE YOU NOT INCLUDE SKIES OF ARCADIA IN THOSE EXAMPLES!!!!!??????!!!!!
Just kidding.
