    I went all in on this system about 5 years ago and purchased and modified an atari 7800. Great fun system especially having children where I don't have time for lengthy game sessions.

    Magnavox odyssey, Atari pong, and all the other pong clones were out years before the VCS, and were things on the screen you could control.
    And not to mention Fairchild channel F which beat Atari to market by almost a year. Technically VCS wasn't the first to do anything except be a massive success

    I first bought an Atari 2600 back in 1981 when it was still referred to as the Atari VCS (meaning Video Computer System) which it was barely a few integrated circuits that were used to make computers. I later on bought an Atari 5200 Super System in 1982 while I still enjoyed playing my Atari 2600. After the North American Home Video Game Market Crash of 1983/1984 I was just playing my two Atari game consoles and hopeful that someone might come up with new games for either the 2600 or the 5200, when the long awaited Atari 7800 Pro System came out finally. So I bought an Atari 7800 which had a couple new controllers that can be played with as well as compatibility with the Atari 2600 controllers. I have bought some of the Atari Flashbacks during the 2010s as well. I have always liked the Atari video game consoles for they are fun to play.

    • @HippoBytes
      @HippoBytes  Рік тому +1

    • @wallacelang1374
      @wallacelang1374 Рік тому

      @@HippoBytes I did read the announcement online and it is more of an Atari 7800 in the casing of an Atari 2600 while having greater compatibility with both game formats and vastly improved sound capabilities. This is why the current Atari is choosing to call it the Atari 2600+ in order to capture the interests of original fans and those who prefer the latest technological advances. If I choose to get it it will be so that I can have an Atari game console that can be easily connected to the more advanced TVs.

    The 2600 has been released and repackaged in so many formats over the years and yet again another new one coming out. Anyone who hasn't played Atari 2600 games, or anyone who stared playing games after 1986 isn't going to be a fan of the old controller. This format is is like a right handed person trying to write their name left handed. I suggest just playing the old 2600 stuff with a xbox type controller and there are so many avenues to play them. I am more of the Atari Arcade fan, not so much the home systems. Atari 50th is a good way to play a lot of Atari stuff
