If a slab panel is restrained by a beam without continuing to an another panel; it is called, discontinued. however if the panel is continued with another panel, it is a continued panel. If a panel is not supported by a beam, is called u- supported slab, that type of slabs can not be designed using these methods ( table 3.12 or 3.14 of BS8110), you have to use first principles/yield line theory to solve it. Please refer Reynold's hand book for the design of slab panels with unsupported edges
