A Travel Mistake Brought Us To Mongolia. We Never Expected to Be Here!

- We had no intentions of visiting Mongolia right now, but here we are, traveling to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia! This will be our first time in Mongolia, and after planning this trip on short notice after missing our flights to Vietnam, we really don't know what to expect. We have very little planned, but we have heard such incredible things about traveling in Mongolia, so we are ready to go into the country with an open mind and see what the country has in store for us.
After 5 weeks in Japan, we have been spoiled with access to anything we could want, incredible transportation, and time with family. After all these luxuries, we thought we'd visit Vietnam and dive in to the hustle and bustle of Southeast Asia. After making a silly travel mistake that cost us about $500, we decided to completely change plans and booked flights to Mongolia! We are ready to put our travel skills to the test and travel to a country that is known to be much more difficult to travel in.
Mongolia doesn't get a lot of tourists, so the infrastructure for visitors isn't built up yet. What that means is that we really don't know what we are getting ourselves into by traveling to Mongolia, but we know that whatever we manage to put together will be an adventure! Mongolia is the least densely populated country in the world, where people often live a nomadic life and have a lot of room to do so! We honestly don't know what we expect from this country, but we are up to create some epic memories.
In this video, we leave Fukuoka, Japan, and begin the long journey to Ulaanbaatar. We have a 21 hour layover in South Korea's Incheon airport, and it turns out there's a lot to do in Incheon airport. The airport feels like a shopping mall, but it also has nap pods and fre public showers for transit passengers. Our layover in South Korea turned out to be our best layover yet!
After finally arriving in Mongolia a whole day after leaving Japan, we were so excited to see what this new country is like! Arriving in Mongolia was very smooth - we were able to take out cash, buy SIM cards, grab a delicious coffee, and our driver was there as soon as we arrived. Our first impressions of Mongolia were pretty hilarious, mostly because we just left Japan and these two countries could not be more different!
This is the first video in our Mongolia series, and we can tell it is going to be a pretty incredible series! We hope you love it!

Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico and in March 2021, we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and began traveling the world! We never thought we'd be making travel vlogs on UA-cam, but after realizing that we had a unique opportunity to share our adventure and make the world feel more familiar and inviting to anyone watching, we took the leap and picked up the camera! We hope our videos show how wonderful, delicious, and friendly the world can be.
One historical fact is Mongolia was the only nation that was able to conquer Russia for centuries. Everyone else, incl. Lithuanians, French, Japanese, Germans (twice) have failed.
I know Sweden also tried to concur Russia. Not once, or twice. Several times for several centuries! Together with Poland and other European countries.
that’s like the best mistake ever 🤩 such a cool experience!
We totally agree! Such a great mistake 🤗

The part where Mico says Prius, Prius, Prius…. Prius and another Prius was so hilarious 😂
Haha glad we could make you laugh!
I don't know how quickly you are able to get these videos out - what month was this? I'm curious about the weather situation.
I think the weather in Mongolia right now is really cold! Our videos are a few months behind so this was in Mongolian summertime when it is much warmer!
Prius is a holy grail for mongolians 🤭♥️
100% 😂 it’s awesome
I love your enthusiasm! Enjoy Mongolia!
Thank you! We can't wait to share our adventures in Mongolia ☺🤗
😂. Happened to us in 2017 the first time we went. I got mine, GF did not. We landed in SGN, and only after we landed and saw 2 canadiens deported, did we leave the immigration room, went to a hallway, she applied for visa that was delivered in 3 hours, and we just walked with another plane that landed from KUL.
You should have gone and seen the city. It's one of the best cities in the world. Seoul airport is ok in Lounges, but atleast you had one!
Sounds like you guys got really lucky, that’s awesome!
What credit card do y’all use that gets you in the lounge airports?
Hey there! We only have 2 credit cards that offer lounge passes - a Scotiabank Visa Passport and a BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard. As Canadians, there aren't many options for cards with lounge access for regular folks (i.e., no business accounts or really high annual fees), but by each having these 2 cards we get 10 lounge passes per year which has been great for us!
Come to Australia guys.
We would love to come and do a big lap one day! We visited the East coast back in 2011 and loved it 😍
@@nicoleandmico stumbled on your you tube channel yesterday. I just visited India so loved your delhi video. Kudos to you for walking through Chandni Chowk alleyways. Looking forward to watching the rest of your India videos and working through your channel on my daily commute.
Money in Mongolia is төгрөг
