Ray! One question, even though you probably might not answer... I don’t have reddit or discord but one of my friends does; can I make an offstage vid for another cello guest when you have the opportunity to make another one? It would be really cool if my playing got reviewed! Especially since I’m doing summer cello camps? Should I send them over to my friend or ask my older sister who has discord to grant the opportunity? Just asking as a friend
Hello it’s Ethan! Thank you for listening to me and your thoughts on my playing! I will consider these as soon as possible as I am going to University soon. Thank you so much Ray Chen and Pablo Ferrández
As amateur musician it is nice to see that you struggle with the same problems as I do (on a whole other level, but still ...). I mean, whenever I see pros on stage they seem so confident and it sounds as if they never mess up and everything. Thanks for showing us that you all are still human!
Ray's explanations are easy to understand, even for me as a ordinary person and I can hear that Ray is very considerate of your listeners. Ray is so attentive, thoughtful, and sweet, and Pablo is as cool as his cello!🫶🏻🫰🏻👍🏻✨👑🎻🌞🥇 Long live violin family! Yeah!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Wow, really great to catch this. I missed the live stream because I am working, but so glad to see this. Really big fan of both of you guys, thanks for doing this.
Thank you so much for this super insightful video - it has definitely given me things to consider working on in order to improve my playing - especially in this period of quarantine where I have more time to practise (I'm a biochemistry student at uni) than normal and I am trying to make the best of it! It also made me laugh and smile (a lot) too... so it was very much appreciated! Thank you both for your dedicating time into such amazing streams and videos - I thoroughly enjoy the Talking Cello series too, Pablo
Ray I was almost late to a zoom meeting because I was so invested in the session, but I was so happy to see you and Pablo live! Are you still coming to Seattle in October?
I can't believe I watched the whole video. You were very engaging as a host. I came across this video because I was searching for videos with Pablo after just seeing a special on PBS with Dudamel talking about him working with younger musicians and they had one performance of Dudamel conducting at the Hollywood Bowl and Pablo was a guest. I loved the performance. Was not familiar with Pablo before today. Anyway, I came across your video and really enjoyed your conversation with Pablo. I'm embarrassed to say I'm not familiar with you either, but I subscribed to your channel to help me get to know you and your work as a violinist. BTW, have you ever performed at the Hollywood Bowl or in Los Angeles?
This was a great stream-love how everyone (cellists and other musicians) can take something away from this!! Ray is a great host-never afraid to ask the questions that we are all thinking! Can't wait for the next one!! :)
My teacher (viola) has been hammering on I should use less bow and more pressure for my tone production in the past two months or so. Telling me exactly what Pablo commented on Ethan's video.
When I finish playing I have the cello literally tattooed on my left leg ahah.. can it be that the thumb symbol was initially a P (for pollice)? Is the same for upbow and downbow (Vile and Nobile)
Thanks so much for watching! Leave a like and comment if you enjoyed our special guest: Pablo Ferrandez!
I WAS THE FIRST TO LIKE THIS COMMENT
I AM HAPPY

I was busy and I missed the stream 😭😭😭
This is probably one of the best videos here. As a violinist and a cellist, I have learnt a lot from this. Thank you, keep it up!
Where is the cello gang?? Make some noise!!
I love you Pablo
(Only two coments😭)

Great playing Ethan! Good luck with the next steps! 👍🏼
Ethan, you play beautifully! I'm happy to hear you plan on continuing your music studies. I hope to catch you touring someday. 🧡
Hey Ethan, really great playing, I really enjoyed that piece!
@@RayChenViolinist I forgot to tell you this, but I go to Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music now!

This reminds me of how music helps us become better humans. Comes very much in time while I’m frustrated with my own music. Thank you Ray and Pablo!
Hi , I'm Hugo , thank's for wathing my video , I learned a lot 😊
i´m a cello student and i have been watching pablos videos all the time, they are awesome :)
Ray playing the cello like a violin was funny
He should try the violoncello da spalla!
Ray: picks the cello like a violín
Pablo: *Sacrilegius*

P.S :The Greatest Soloist Ray, Your room is so fresh& awesome!😎✨🌞
Ray, you should ask Twoset or Sarah Chang to be on featured next on your “Offstage” series.... that would be awesome
The face Pablo makes when Ray holds the cello like a violin is priceless
I love how he clapped for every player :) very cool
It’s wonderful session, my nephew is a professional cellist, for me, it’s great to hear the comments from the maestro
Ray should do a video where he tries to play the cello!
Bruh Pablo is so cute lmaoo
Both musicians are absolutely top classical performers! Thank you for contributing to the world!
I'm just really worried about the Cello 😂
Wow, really great to catch this. I missed the live stream because I am working, but so glad to see this. Really big fan of both of you guys, thanks for doing this.
Love this! Also, David Popper was one of the last concert cellists to perform without an endpin. It’s legit
1:01:00
Ray: So, how does that look?
Pablo: That looks good
Me: You look like a world-class cellist
Thanks Ray and Pablo!!! This apart is pretty funny 1:02:45

I'm too late but cello gang is here!!!! :))) thank you so much for this video!
Cool stream, again! The new set-up looks great, I hope you are satisfied with the sound panels!
This was great! I love watching Pablo’s videos, and I don’t even play cello. He’s a great musician!
Ray I was almost late to a zoom meeting because I was so invested in the session, but I was so happy to see you and Pablo live! Are you still coming to Seattle in October?
But I learned so much about the cello today. Thank you, Pablo.
Such an interesting conversation, thanks, guys!
Didn’t see the “chin rest” coming 🤣🤣🤣

Pro tip: never lend Ray your cello! 🤣
🐱Summing up: "The cello was not harmed in the making of this video, but it had to put up with some odd handling and sus remarks" 😹 😁

Ray is best! )

So bad, I was 25 minutes too late for the show. :((
We'll play f for respect in our next practise session👏✊
Hello Pablo and Ray!!
Why is the background so purple? I had thought it was the time of day the first time. But then it's purplish every time.
I love ur discord profile Lol
I missed it.! What was it?
27:39 important point here
Violoncello da spalla gang, anybody?
Nice palm ...nice interview. Fat cellist invented the pin. Hmmm fat fact. V good.
Ray should play cello instead of violin
The cello looked good with him, yeah
