- Ticketmaster finds another way to hit rock bottom by adding LISTENING ONLY tickets. The concert & ticketing company keeps giving music fans more reason to hate them after they were caught selling these at multiple big name shows like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, etc.

I'd like to announce my new partnership with Ticketmaster!!! You can "listen" to my videos for only $25 a month! Sign up now, just be sure to flush that cash straight down your toilet! 🤑
newest addition to the ARTV lore?? 🤨
That sounds like a great idea!
**Flushes life savings down the toilet**
Props to Robert Smith for taking Ticketmaster to task for excessive " service " charges ( Fees ) & obtaining partial refunds for Cure fans.
Based af. Love Robert, even if the Cure isn't really my thing. Guy's a legend.
I'd rather watch a UA-cam bootleg of a show I want to see than get "listening only" seats
With listening only tickets you’re better off just listening to the live album lmao.
So basically they saw that fans would go to the parking lots to listen to the shows for just the price of parking at venues that allowed it and were like “why aren’t we charging for this”
Crazy how i paid like 100 bucks or maybe less for GA Pit tickes for a MCR Concert (black parade tour) and last year i paid 600 for same tickets on the reunion tour
Like how can this even be a thing lol. So ridiculous
I remember seeing this as a joke on an old TV show. I'm just surprised it took this long to become a reality.
Goddamn it what have they done now
“Listening Only”? Geez….
I missed Blink in Dallas cause I couldn’t afford a $700 nosebleed ticket 😊
I went to London and had obstructed seating and I payed 13 pounds for my ticket and I was in the third row. I still got a great view of the stage. There’s absolutely now way I’d pay $50 to see a wall while I listen to Beyoncé. Ticketmaster is out of control.
Listening only ? LISTENING ONLY?! WHAT THE ACTUAL FU-😑😠
WHAT THE F**K!? Really, LISTENING ONLY TICKETS, for that I just go to a f*cking roof close to the stadium to listen for FREE the concert or even better, wait for the live album that likely will publish a video of it and it's FREE (well unless it releases on streaming)! Concert tickets are way too expensive, like 100 dollars was a decade ago and now it's nearly a thousand? Also don't get me started on taxes and fees. I'd love to go to a concert one day but these prices just get worse with time!
They take 15%, while others only take 10%. Why do people even buy or sell from them?
As a blind person who loves concerts, I would not be 100% against listening only seats because that is my only option. I would not pay a shit ton for them though.
Hey, if people want to pay 200 dollars just to listen to a performance, that's their own damn fault. I'd never pay for something as stupid as that.
What Ticketmaster should do is just allow people to sell the ticket back to the platform. That way they can get a refund and Ticketmaster still gets their initial money from the ticket from the next buyer. Obviously this wouldn’t happen because Ticketmaster is where they are but practically it makes sense (not factoring in other reseller sites though)
I agree! This would be amazing
Yep. That's what's happened when you go to buy tickets and see the red seats with the circle that are labeled "verified resale."
@@SunlessComa4614 except it’s not, people can set the price they want to resell them for with those tickets
Hopefully, there are plenty of indie-tier acts playing small-scale concerts that I can still see eventually. I have yet to actually go to a local show somewhere in Chicago. Small festivals and bars are also a good alternative to having to shell out money for stadiums and arenas, too. In fact, industrial dance band, Nitzer Ebb, actually did a FREE show at West Fest earlier this year. It's too bad I couldn't find someone else who was interested.
The fact that Ticketmaster is essentially a monopoly thanks to Live Nation just makes me angry all over again
They also own festival ticket sale company front gate tickets
I could just find recordings of live performances on UA-cam for free, with that I actually get to see the concert too and the quality isn’t that bad most of the time either from what I’ve watched before
all my homies hate Ticketmaster
Watching this because of the LDR fiasco 😭
I don’t how it works in the USA, but Ticketmaster in Mexico, the only thing they do is selling tickets, the event management (the biggest one here is OCESA) is the one to blame when it comes to seats, where and how many tickets are sold. So the “listening only” tickets is an idea of the event management, not on Ticketmaster.
P.D. I also hate dynamic pricing, that’s on Ticketmaster.
It works the same worldwide. But even dynamic pricing is the artist’s decision, not Ticketmaster’s.
Ticketmaster controls NOTHING. The artist is the puppeteer controlling Ticketmaster’s strings.
It works the same in the USA. People just assume Ticketmaster is the one to blame. Just so you know, the dynamic pricing is also artist controlled. It’s not really something to hate as the dynamic priced tickets offset the cost for the cheaper tickets. It does work out in the fan’s favor.
They’ve been releasing them days before the show too, when they know people are desperate to just be in the same room as their favorite artists. Talk about taking advantage of people!
totally agree jon! love you videos and always get excited when you do upload!
That’s why I’m glad Dead and Company concerts were recorded and a lot of the performances are available for streaming.
Same with Metallica. I love seeing Metallica live and will continue to but I’m so happy that you can stream every single Metallica concert from 2004 all the way to present day.
@@rtgredtruck3059 Metallica’s UA-cam channel is so well-managed!
The other thing is Ticketmaster already sets parking prices, usually beginning at about $30 at their venues. For bigger artists I’m sure it gets even higher. I’d never pay for the parking let alone the ticket just to watch practically a glorified UA-cam video in an obstructed view or no view seat
Glad you mentioned this! The parking situation is atrocious and getting Ubers barely helps (plus can be a safety issue)
Who told you Ticketmaster has control over parking prices?
Ticketscamaster.
I haven't been to concerts in nearly a decade cuz of medical conditions make leaving the house at all is impossible. It's actually insane how much tickets cost now a days. Like deadass I spent 15$ for nosebleed tickets to a7x and maybe 50$ max to see slipknot i had no idea tickets cost so much now I think I'll stick with ar matey versions and youtube even if I could leave the house and not die feels like a rip off.
I could be a potential musician. This is a problem, as I already feel ripped off.... I mean the record label industry is a dumpster fire itself, and now this?
Cool Linkin Park poster
Just buy the live album
Im an artist. I feel scammed. I'm not far into a career, this Is important to know.
Huh, I thought it was bad enough paying ~$50 for Depeche Mode (standing). And then I got tickets to see Melanie Martinez in a few months.. ~$80! Last time I went to see both of these acts it was at least $20 cheaper.
I understand Covid happened, but damn. I assume not even half of that money goes to the actual artist/band/crew. (BTW I'm European, so it might be different compared to the US.)
I live in Europe, too and $50 or $80 for a concert is a BARGAIN! The average price I pay for shows anywhere in Europe is about $200 nowadays.
@@OriginalGrasshopper $200 for a normal ticket!? Wow that's insane... that's usually what Golden Circle or VIP (lowest tier) goes for here.
@@TristanReveurYes, $200 is the average cost for any arena or stadium show for the past couple of years now. Gold Circle is THOUSANDS of dollars.
@@OriginalGrasshopper that's just insane, I'm so sorry!
My one experience with Ticketmaster was when me and my friends went to see Muse on the Will of the People tour with Evanescence and Highly Suspect opening. We got to the gate and my friend who had the tickets was unable to access the site for scanning. 45 minutes and countless screens later, we were taken to the box office where they fortunately managed to work some computer magic and find and scan the tickets. We missed Highly Suspect’s entire set, and to this day I’m still bummed about it. I’m glad everything did eventually work out, but it could’ve all been avoided if a better service had been used. Screw this service.
It could have been avoided if your friend would have followed the directions to add the tickets to their wallet before hand. Ticketmaster always sends an email to remind you to add them to the wallet a few days before the event. That is to avoid issues with accessing the tickets at the doors. So really, your friend is to blame, not Ticketmaster.
Best way to protest is to not go to anything sold by Ticketmaster and just go to local gigs with smaller bands which I've done the past 2 years and don't miss the bigger shows at all.
A lot of small venues are owned by live nation/ticket master now as well.
@@csdarlington86 There's places where you can still pay a small cover charge at the door, No Ticketmaster necessary. Just did it 2 weeks ago. I go out of my way to support those places.
If people are stupid enough to buy them then that is their fault not Ticketmaster's fault
This is why whenever the opportunity presents itself, I'll always buy tickets from the box office of a venue if the tickets are being sold through Ticketmaster online. Seeing this "listening only" crap doesn't even make me mad. Just more dead inside with how Ticketmaster can continuously get away with stuff like this. Here's hoping another big artist takes them to court again.
I’m at a loss for words at this point…Ticketmaster are they for real?! 😳😭💀
I really feel like 90% of concerts these days aren't even worth going to. Most acts play their songs *exactly* as they are on their albums. If I just wanted to listen to the album, I could stay home.
If I'm going to go to a concert, it's because the band in question improvises and I'm *not* going to hear exactly what I could hear sitting at home. A good example of this is Counting Crows. They do alt lyrics and arrangements all the time, so no two shows are the same. (I'm sure there are more modern bands that do that, but that's just an example. :))
It’s so cute to see people rant about Ticketmaster while their favorite artists are really the ones to blame. It’s important to know that these “listening only” tickets were made available by the artist and their promoter. Ticketmaster is just the middleman that facilitates the transaction and keeps track of the inventory. Ticket prices are set by the artists and prices skyrocket on the secondary market because the artist chooses to allow ticket transfers. I’m not saying this to be a shill for Ticketmaster, I’m saying it because nothing will change until we put the blame where it belongs. The blame belongs on the artists. They have way more power over their ticket sales then everyone assumes.
💯Exactly! So amazing how no one understands that Ticketmaster is simply a puppet controlled by the artist themselves.
