    After breaking ribs racing dual slalom, I added the TLD UPS7850 and their shorts with the hip/leg pads to my protection loadout. The shoulder pads and rib pads really saved me a few times. I wore mine without a shirt, and sometimes put a teeshirt on over the TLD. It's well ventilated as one can expect - I wore mine at some truly humid and hot races, and it wasn't a bother heatwise. I don't wear it much since I stopped racing, but it's always ready for more.

    My two cents! Thanks for the video, great review, very helpful. I would like to add two things that are an issue for me that I would like to mentioned. The shoulders pads are very minimal. (thin soft foam) They absolutely will not protect from shoulder injuries. Maybe they will stop a rock or branch from digging into your arm, but any ground contact and they will be useless. This thing is really hard to get on and off, particular after a good sweaty ride!
    Don't overlook this as most times I have to leave it on until I get home and have my wife help me get remove it. It is a pain in the...well, shoulder. Cheers, thanks again!

    Cool Adam. Had 2 injuries this yr already and sinced been wearing that Short Sleeved version too. MTB crashes happen ususlly when we least expect em. Even fell off a cliff 2 weeks ago and never had any injury protected by that Armor, fully protected eben the TLD wrist brace and an ankle brace. Been used to the extra heat using the armors and just really takes time to get used to.

    I know this vest wasn't meant for this but this vest is perfect for paintball. Way better than the actual vests specifically made for paintball which really only help from having paintballs break when you're hit and they barely reduce any of the pain. With this vest you won't feel anything. I know some will say "well real men don't need protection for paintball" yeah well I'm not so young anymore and as a construction worker who takes a beating at work already, I dont need that extra pain especailly when playing almost every weekend. Going to work with never healing bruises every week ain't fun at all. So yeah this vest is a great option for playing paintball

    • @AdamMock

      The 7850 (short sleeve) has the better rib protection which feels like a harder padding. It has a little squish to it, but mostly feels firm. The 3900 (sleeveless) has rib protection that feels slightly firm, and thinner than the 7850. ✌🏼🤟🏼

    • @AdamMock
      @AdamMock  3 роки тому

      The padding on the No-sleeve ends just above the waistline. If you pair it with the LPS7605 TLD chammy you get a decent amount of protection.
      The short sleeve has thicker pads on the back, but sleeveless offers some protection vs. no protection. ✌🏼🤟🏼

    What a brilliant video thank you.
    I unfortunately came off my own bike this morning. I got a little carried away on the trails with my buddy! Its my second time on proper mtb trails that have fast sections with burms aswell as rock gardens and drops anyway i was getting in to it and going well when i came out of a burm fairly fast and lost control of my bike i was sent over the bars and i dont know if it was a tree stump or my bike but a got a massive wollop to my back that legt me on the trail in agony till i found my feet!
    My question is , will this short sleeve ups 7850 be adequate protection on the type of trails i mentioned.. there rough gravel with rocks and tree stumps etc ... im going to have to slow down abit till i get used of the trails but i dont want to get another injury 😫
    My right flank is what got hit and the ups 7850 looks just the job!

    • @AdamMock
      @AdamMock  5 місяців тому +1

      @@82HEADCASE I’m so sorry to hear about your wipeout! The 7850 is a good choice for overall protection. It definitely helps absorb impact and covers the majority of your ribs and back. I wiped out on a ride in Downieville CA with the 7850 and did a “scorpion”. The armor definitely helped mitigate landing on roots and rocks and even the bike hitting me.
      Another option that could suit you is the TLD Rockfight CE Chest Protector. This is easier to take on and off, has more breathability, and has the benefit of plastic armor for your chest and back. However it doesn’t cover as much as the 7850.

    What size Chest are you? Like what suit size do you use? I have a 39" chest, 5'9" 150lbs. I normally wear a size Small t shirt for NIKE shirts so it's nice and fitted. I'm not sure to go with a Medium or Large for the No sleeve version

      Great question. I'm 6'1" 185lbs and have a 42" chest. I normally wear a large in fitted t-shirts. For both of these armors I sized down to a medium. I wear a dry fit t-shirt under the short sleeve and a dry fit tank top under the no-sleeve.

      Hi Paul, I actually address this in the video. TLD uses images that don't represent the true look of the product. I used their images for the thumbnail as that's what people will see come up when researching the body armor. Once they watch the video, they will see (and I mention) that the images and the actual product don't match. My hope with the video is that you'll see what you're really getting. ✌🏼🤟🏼

    Awesome review, I feel like having a protector over my body would make me think that I am invincible 😂

    I'd think if you need body armor your crash probably ends without your bike next to you.

    If you've ever seen an animal die with it's guts on the ground, you would buy the gut protection. Stay safe.
