Intro 0:10 | Overview 0:58 | Setup 3:02 Click ‘Read More’ for more information. Hey Rollers! Time to get EXCITED...as the moment has arrived!! As promised at the end of the original Too Many Bones Showcase over a year ago. We're about to embark on a journey down the river in Too Many Bones: Undertow. Join me as we get setup for our adventure! There was a recent interview with CTG where mention of a spring launch for more Too Many Bones content this year. Keep your eyes peeled! Correction: Gasket should also start with Skill Die (16) Power Converter. A quick fix for the next video.
I remember when you talked about this a long time ago, I know myself and a lot of people asked for Gaskit to be included in your playthrough, so thanks a lot for that. My copy is off the shelf now and I'm really excited about this one, thanks Adam.
Can't wait for this. Just got the game a few days ago. As a word of warning to those who read this, there are two misprints (I know of) in the solo encounter cards. Card solo 006 "Reach Out and Touch Someone" is supposed to give a training point upon completion (it's missing the training point icon in the bottom left) and card solo 003 "Halfed Raft" is supposed to say lanes 1 and 4 (it currently says 1 and 3). Also for some reason this video only shows in my feed. But it's not showing up on the channel itself.
Septen Decim UA-cam also just tweeted out that since Friday the issue with videos showing properly has been happening and they’re working on it. So that’s good news!
So excited since I just started playing undertow myself. I watched all your core TMB showcase videos and that's what made me buy it. Your top 10 solo games review sold me on undertow. I really would like to get Gasket. I'm glad I will get to see him in action!
Hey Brandon! Great timing :) Happy to hear I was able to help you decide. Gasket is really cool. Thought it would be a fun fit for this playthrough. See you then!
I didn't back this, have been saving up for TMB and some of the other components. Will order directly from Chip Theory's online store. Just taking time to save cause other games at the LFGS or on KS come along and reck my saving plan.
Hey Hepta! A heads up that CTG is doing another Bones related KS in the Spring. So you could could either way. Although buying from the store would be a quicker turn around I imagine.
Good to know there is a campaign in a few months, expect it will be for an Undertow specific expansion. Think I will still order direct from CTG's online store even though the shipping will be double than a KS campaign simply because they will ship it immediately. Will probably order the following to maximize the cost of shipping, Undertow, Gasket, Gillie, Adventure Map, Premium Health, Ally Pack (cause of Gillie), Roll Tray and Premium Chip Tray. Selected Gillie based on comments in BGG, would then pick up Tink and Nugget also maybe the 40 days expansion since it is compatible with Undertow as part of the next KS campaign. No point getting Age of Tyranny unless buying the original TMB.
Exactly. Getting it earlier is likely worth it. Sounds like you have a sound plan in place. Let me know how it goes and what you think of it when it lands. :)
Jay! Wanted to switch it up and use another new Gearloc for this one. Would be awesoe to use use all three but it would be a bit much for a video. CTG has a great video for Stanza if you need help that I’ve seen. Cheers!
Sorry I missed it and for some reason it’s not completely obvious to me on the plat or the instructions how do you know how much health to start off with?
No worries! In Too Many Bones, each Gearloc has a starting health value specified on their character mat. To find this starting health: 1. Look at the bottom left corner of your Gearloc’s character mat. There, you’ll see a heart symbol with a number next to it, indicating the starting health. 2. Place that number of health chips (the red chips) next to your Gearloc to represent your starting health. Keep in mind that this is the starting value before you add any skill points or items that might increase health during gameplay.
Dang! I’m debating between TMB Undertow (with one character expansion), versus Dune Imperium with the Ix expansion. What would you choose for solo play, fun, and repeatability? Great videos for Too Many Bones Undertow!!
Glad to see that you are using Gasket. Just a small error in set up in that that you didn’t place Gasket’s power converter (16) on the mat. He starts with this also. There is a circle around it on the character ref guide though it is a bit hard to see.
Have not yet played Too Many Bones but have a copy & undertow coming after my cloudspire order. I would love to know your rank order of the extras/expansions for the game. Assuming I like it the first 2 things that I was considering is the map (as you show in this video) and Age of Tyranny (to add the campaign aspect).
Hey John! Well hopefully this will help with the wait for delivery. :) Ooo ranking them all would be quite the endeavour. It depends on a lot of things. Age of Tyranny is high on the list. I’ll tell you that much. Anything that adds new ways to play and adds mechanics is a plus! I also love the adventure map and premium chips. In terms of Gearloc expansions, grab the ones you like the sound of best. There is no wrong order there. Cheers!
@@RollingSolo Too Many Bones video idea: if I remember correctly in your Undertow video you pointed out the 1 gearlock was easier, I think, than the other. For starting players or those looking to get an expansion or two. An order list from easiest to hardest gearlocks and the set/expansion they come from might be useful.
John Kessler, this how I would rank them from easiest to hardest: Tantrum Picket Duster Patches Boomer/Tink are about same difficulty Stanza I don’t own the others yet, so I can’t rate them.
Hey question about the game. Does the Careless skill apply for every Bone rolled? So if a enemy with Careless 2 rolled two Bones. Would it take 4 damage or only 2?
Good question. Off the top of my head I’m not sure. My assumption would be that for every bone rolled. So two bones is two damage. Let me know if you confirm this!
@@RollingSolo I see. The only thing I could find that's similar is this. Can baddie abilities triggered by bones trigger multiple times in a turn? For example, if a goblin sandbagger rolls 2 bones, will mischief 1 activate twice, forcing his target to discard 2 active dice? What about a baddie with Reckless, will they lose multiple hp if they roll several bones? No, they can be activated only once (rulebook page 14 "These Skills can only be triggered once per turn and are listed on the Gearloc Adventuring Reference Guide") So going of this, I'm going to assume they only trigger once. But I know Adam said in one thing I read, that if Stanza has her song up that gives others the Careless skill on a enemy that already has Careless. One Bone will trigger them both simultaneously. Edit: Okay I found it. Page 15 of the Undertow rule book on paragraph 8. So yes the Bone skills only trigger once a turn.
So excited for this series! Really tempted to jump on the Too Many Bones train. I'm with Hekje, still debating between this and the base game. Maybe Chip Theory will come out with a legacy style character development version :D
Just to be sure, this came is compatible with Too Many Bones. Which means that if you only buy this game, you will miss lots and lots of content (dice, enemies, characters). Are you sure this game/standalone expansion is worth it as a standalone? To clarify, is this game still your #1 game of 2018 if this is the only TMB product you'd have?
Hey Hekje! This game is an expansion/compatible with Too Many Bones (the original) and also a stand-alone game. This is a lower price point entry into the world so there is a bit less than the original Too Many Bones. Yes, this game is still my number one as a stand-alone game! Cheers :)
I think less than half isn't true from my understanding. Half the Gearlocs yes. Hmm there are five tyrants in Undertow. I believe in the original there is seven? Undertow also introduces 3 point baddies and a more advanced battle mat. I'd tend to disgree it's half the content. Just my thoughts though! :)
@@hekje12345 Hi Hekje your name sounds Dutch if so then maybe you want to try the game before buying it i am Dutch also living in a place called Gouda so if you are interested let me know.
Unfortunately I'm too late to jump on this train. I think at the time this game came out, I wasn't into this kind of game. But I am now, on their website the game is sold out in Europe. I guess I have to be lucky. Going through the original game playthrough of yours now :-)
Hey KL! The good news is CTG is planning a Kickstarter for Spring based on a recent interview. So you have another chance! :) Hope you enjoy the playthrough!
@@RollingSolo Ah thanks, I was checking kickstarter but couldn't find it. I'm now on part 10 of the playthrough of last year. Could you stop doing playthroughs of great games because thanks to you I'm also into Tainted Grail (late pledge, when available).
