A song written in English, by an Icelandic creative powerhouse, sang to a japanese audience, in a thick accent. Damn. Imagine creating something so powerful that it’s THAT universal. Epic.
Bjork is so unique that people would find it difficult to do cover versions of her music. Very complex and different. I think that she is way ahead of her time to be honest. I like it though.
It's hard to cover her songs because she is so unique! but as a musician, I can tell that once you start to analyze the music, you realize that this music is full of harmony and can be interpreted in many ways, and that is what Bjork actually does to her songs - I can't remember a single tour when she repeated herself in terms of arrangements!
WRITTEN, SINGLE, TOUCHED AND VISUAL POETRY OF THE BEST QUALITY! I was a teenager, I remember at the time that this clip of the song "Pagan Poetry" by this Icelandic singer Bjork, made a lot of controversy when it was released, I read in magazines, getting banned from MTV. According to my perception the clip can be divided into two parts. The first is basically composed of sex between abstract forms alternated with images of needles, piercings and collars being inserted into a woman's body. In the second part, Bjork is finally shown wearing a "wedding dress". Detail: This dress leaves Björk's breasts on display and is theoretically supported by the piercings and necklaces shown in the first part of the video. By having some "sex and nudity scenes" the unsuspecting may consider the video appealing and pornographic, however, it is far from it. The purpose of pornographic content is to sexually excite, whoever has seen knows what I am talking about, far from the purpose And the emotions of "Pagan Poetry." With all these needles, Björk's bipolar expressions, which now both cries, smiles, and surrealism in the sexual scenes, the transmitted feeling is basically pain, despair, and a near loss of sanity. A wedding dress is a symbol of love, after all a couple just gets married (or should be) when they both love each other. But the dress used in the video is only maintained thanks to the various painfully used necklaces and piercings By the singer. Therefore, love exists only close to her pain? The letter of the song does not give much detail on the reason for this pain.Infidelity? Unrequited love? Moral questions? Or worse, would the lover himself be the one who hurts her? , For whatever reason, love hurts and Björk, managed to pass all this pain so much for those who listen to the song and its silent and distressed I love him / her, both for those who see the instability of Their expressions in the video. Shocking, dark, mysterious, beautiful and painful, in short "Pagan Poetry" is a true work of art. What charmed, enchanted and enchanted those who see and hear!
Björk is perfection, although I would like to hear a live rendition of the last lines that compete with the studio version. Poor classically trained string players could not stay in tempo without a conductor.

So I have convinced myself that this song can be interpreted as a song about Pagan Worship of Saturn and whatever the hell she is saying at 3:45 to 4:16 is a powerful incantation in either another language or sung backwards. Nevertheless this is by far and wide my favorite song of hers next to the now second place "Unravel".
What is the last lyric she sings? I can't find it online because she only sings it live. Am I correct in thinking it's, "He makes me want to give me away" ? Thanks!
My first thought (and expression publicly) when I first heard this song was that Bjork makes women fear how deep they fall in love with men; it's like they began to resent this form of vulnerability. I met a number of feminists that day...

True. We need more of this in our present world.
The whole arena is silent when she sings "I love him." That's when you know you've got 'em. :)

She's timeless period💖
She's timeless indeed but please don't end sentences with ''period'' it's cringe
This song makes me cry. So beautiful. This time; and every time.
Oh my god how I love that song...
so much emotion in one song. love it
I dont know how she feel you Music because i see she dancing and i listen and i feel so sad.
Just one thing I fine even more remarkable in this live performance. No in ears. she is just incredible

Estou completamente derretido .
Que genia 😎😍

You don't need to instruct the players though. Maybe there was some other reason for this.

she confused a few words even with the cheat sheets 😄 so cute. she's really struggling with this one though. maybe it's her vocal cord injury
Fucking amazing !! the end is a summit
Poesia Pagã 🌹🖤🌹
she started the lyrics before a little bit ...
Pedaling through
The dark currents
I find
An accurate copy
A blueprint
Of the pleasure
In me
A secret code carved, a secret code carved
He offers
A handshake
Crooked
Five fingers
They form a pattern
Yet to be matched
On the surface simplicity
But the darkest pit in me
It's pagan poetry
Pagan poetry
Morsecoding signals
They pulsate and wake me up
From my hibernating
On the surface simplicity
But the darkest pit in me
It's pagan poetry
Pagan poetry
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
This time
I'm gonna keep it to myself
This time
I'm gonna keep me all to myself
And he makes me want to hurt myself again
And he makes me want to hurt myself again
It’s “and he makes me want to hand myself over”
WoW
I like the lively songs she performs
But this is simply the best
Pagan Poetry in Japan
She almost looks japanese for this
maravillosa
The strings and harp couldn't get it right at the end
thanks
♡
Best for ever
すごい。 :D

How do you know that and you don't even know what shes saying? Shes speaking Icelandic on that part, she does that in many of her live shows
gibberish a meditation technique
She made a mistake in the lyrics (or was it on purpose?) Very cute anyway :)
where???

He makes me want to hand myself over
give me or kill me away?
He makes me want to hurt myself
And he makes me want to hurt myself again
Its for sure "give me away"
This is world litterature. Just like Iceland is the worlds last sanctuary for old norse german language.

I wish she did stuff like this now. It was genius....and now it is fluff
I think she's more invested in healing tones and taking "music" further out of context to invoke more healing
she sings this on her latest tour
can any of you tell me what she says after she sings the part of. ..hibernating... it's sth in her language or just sth to fill the song? Thankz
Əhsən! Great!
who wrote music?
Who’s harp player?
Zeena Parkins. A truly great player!
haha...cheating papers on the floor
Take a look at big bands like U2, Depeche Mode, Metallica, etc...they use some monitors for lyrics, it`s something normal when you sing 22-25 songs.
a true pro ;)
@SuperDerpface youre not japanese
harp and eletronic is ok but cellos doesn't match at all
