Just found this review,. Thank you! I was on the fence but I will be buying other pencils. It is good to know they require a lot of pressure to use, I do have hand issues so these would have been a waste of money. I found these on a 25% off sale so that made the price more reasonable. But ...no sense in buying pencils I will wind up giving away or swapping with someone.
This was so interesting to watch! I love the packaging but I'm not going to get these. I rarely use my inktense or albrecht durer pencils because I like the inktense paint pans instead. But I loved how in-depth this was. Thank you for this valuable resource for the coloring book community!
Yes! I think that the Tim Holtz packing is a huge draw but the product itself leaves a lot to be desired. This video took quite a bit of time but I really enjoyed finding ways to show what they could and could not do. I woild like to make more of these types of videos. Let me know if there is a medium you would like to see this way. I'm just going to go through most of my stuff and start filming 😆
I'm glad you found the review helpful. My intent was not to dissuade people from purchasing but only to show the good and bad points of the medium. If you woild like to see a review of another product please let me know as I am going to do more of these videos. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your opinion. Have a colorful day! 🖍🌈
I've repeatedly been disappointed with TH products. They are priced like quality but just are not in my humble opinion. I bought the entire set of distress markers a few years ago and the tips wore down so fast in spite of my treating them SO carefully, replaced markers tried to revive as they dried up pretty quickly. Very frustrating there are no replacement tips or any way to actually revive them so they become trash. Instead I made my own water color palette of the most unusual and favorites of the colors and I use those, but not nearly as often as I thought I would. This was very thorough and a great presentation. Thank you so much.
I am so glad that you enjoyed the format of the review. Please let me know if there is another product you would like to see reviewed. I really enjoyed finding ways to show all parts of these pencils. I do beleive that we pay for the name as much as the medium itself. I have also found that the hype and packaging is a big draw but the product itself is often a bit of a let down. Thank you for watching and have a very colorful day! 🖍🌈
That will be my next product review! I'm working on the coloring journal video now and then that one. Let me if there is any other product you would like me to review. Thanks for watching!
I got a set of these as a gift, and wasn't sure as a colorist how or if I would use them. I will say that this is a GREAT video and gives me an idea how they stand against some of what i already have and use. I HAVE noticed that these are good for backgrounds where I want it to look antiqued/stained/weathered and that is primarily what I will be using them for.
Hello Pixie. I really like reviews like this one. It helps me decide what i want to buy. You covered it so well for the short amt of time you have had them! Most of my books Are Amazon paper so this does help. Thanks so much!🙋🌅
Thank you so much for sharing your opinion! It helps me to create content that my friends want to see. I really enjoyed doing this long form review and will have another on the Distress crayons soonish. If these is a product that you would like to see reviewed in this manner please let me know and I will add it to the list. Have a colorful day! 🖍🌈
I ordered these for coloring in books. I’m very anxious to give them a go, I think , from what I’ve seen in other videos that they will be great for back-rounds. Love that they are the distress color palettes. Thank you for sharing!
Tim also demo’d dipping the pencils in water…holding the tip in water for a few seconds then lay the color down directly from the wet pencil. That laid down a ton of color! I think that would be the same as shaving them and making a pot of paint but much easier
I will need to try that as well. Thank you! The paint palettes I created are meant to be for when I sharpen so I don't throw away any of the pigment. I just did it in the video to show how you can save the waste. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for a good review of the Distress Watercolor Pencils. I like your samples in your coloring book and I do like a layer of gesso laid down first. I just found your UA-cam channel and will be checking out some of your other videos.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's my first in depth review of a product and I definitely will be making more of these types of videos in the future. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much. This video was different from most that I make so I was a little nervous releasing it. I love working with water mediums and find the best way to get comfortable is to just go into it thinking that you will mess it up and it's ok. 😊
They look amazing I love the distress range I have all the inks a few of the crayons now I’m waiting to save for these as these are so expensive to buy hear in Australia it’s really horrible the prices hear.. thank y for your honest video too
I am trying very hard to speak honestly about any products I show. I want people to be able to know if a product is right foe them before they spend the money. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video and are able to make a choice from it. Thank you so much for watching and all of your kind comments. You are much appreciated! 💜
This is a very thought through video, some great points made. I'm definitely going to make a palette with the shavings, that's a great idea, and saves the waste. Very brave using your Amazon books, I don't tend to use watercolour in mine as I just don't enjoy prepping and worrying about the paper. (lazy I know) I have noticed they seem a bit better dry on much smoother papers, but the crumbly nature of them was driving me a bit daft. I do like the colour palette though, particularly the picked raspberry. I like them, but still feel they are a bit pricy. (think they work out a bit cheaper for you in $'s compered to £'s) Thanks for this, review, very interesting, x 👍
Nothing lazy about picking and choosing what you want to do with your time. I just have too many amazon printed books to not try my mediums in them. 😆 and yes, I find the colors amazing, I just don't feel that they are good enough for the price. Thanks for watching and letting me know what you think. 😊
I also use Neocolor II on Amazon paper, and they work very well because they are more of a gouache, while Inktense really don't work on that paper. I wonder if there are some unique colours in the distress pencils and crayons compared to the Neocolor II. I would like more colours than the 30 I currently own, and maybe Distress pencils and crayons can help me with that? Thx for this in depth video! Always on the lookout for new mediums, as I love to mix many on colouring pages. I rarely use a single medium.
The crayons and the pencils have the same colors and they work very well together. Have you looked into the neo 84 count set? The palette is amazing. Thank you for watching.
I am honestly surprised by how much they crumbled. I definitely feel like for the price point theu should be much better. Thank yoy for watching and sharing your opinions as well. I'm hoping to do more of this type of video in the future so let me know if there are any products you would like to see reviewed in this format. Have a colorful day! 🖍🌈
Have you or are you planning to purchase these pencils?
no, i do not plan on buying these pencils.🙋🤗
@@valerieb8006 I have the Watercolor Pencil Sets.
I’m planning to buy them but they are $55.00 hear in Australia 🇦🇺 just so expensive I need a fairy god mother to get them for me lol 😂
Maybe not for the time being 😁

I have tried watercolour pencils.
But the colours went through.
Thank you so much for sharing.
I'm so sorry to here that. In my experience, the less water you use the better it is. Hope that helps!
Wonderful coloring!🤩 interesting set...thanks for showing👌
