Watching this live is so funny. For context, this was around the end of a Interview Chat about their Jobs segment, and he was about to end stream in 20 minutes and wanted one last interview. Squeex jumps in, and they proceeded to yap for another hour and thirty minutes lmao.
I wanna thank whoever runs this channel for uploading a new vid every day within minutes of me getting off of work. I know you do it just for me. Really makes the drive home alot better
Yeah i love it. There are a few streamers where i get the impression, that they are actually just decent human beings. I wasn't suprised that Lud and Squeex got along that well and it's the same now with Atrioc.
Out of all the social medias twitch implemented the vertical scroll feature the worst, no one is gonna scroll through a slow loading random part of someone's full live stream, that is horribly cropped, and watch the full thing, maybe the could've implemented it with vods somehow, but that would entail an upload feature which i don't think twitch has
True, but it's not art it's just living your life which I still think is better then striving forever for nothing. But it's not art and I think being cynical on that is not much, but it is genuine.
I personally don't get how it's fun watching people's inside drama air, I wouldn't want my drama getting any bigger than it has to be. People that actively enjoy that stuff without taking a second to realize that it's weird bother me
I have never heard of Squeex before the hitman video but holy hell is he speaking facts. So many people out there obsessed with numbers and don't even know why. He is a bit too cynical though but I definitely feel the same on some days.
Watch his session with Dr. K. I usually can't stand watching those but with Squeex it was something else. I guess their shared background made them connect extra fast (they were both raging dota nerds that just started doing what they love instead)
I’ve unsubbed to a few people recently because they’ve devolved into drama/react creators and seem to actually create nothing anymore. Just sitting at their desk judging other UA-camrs from their high horse all day until it’s them who’s “exposed” the next week.
One of the main reasons i don't use twitch anymore is because of all the random and forced ads and prerolls. Makes it really hard to watch something, especially multiple streamers. It adds up if you'd subscribe to multiple streamers. If you compare that you youtube premium you just get way more value for.money.
I had the same feeling from school vs work. When I was working the summers I'd just check out when the shift was over but during the semester I would constantly feel like I could be working on my other assignments or studying for exams for basically all hours of the day
While I do agree that the focus should be on creating content worth watching, there's also something to be said for NEEDING seo and such to get discovered so people will see it in the first place.
Depends on your "real job" tbf, the position I'm in, there's so much potential work that could be done and it all increases the chance I progress and earn more. It can make it hard to check out especially with working from home half the week. The plus side is I like my job but I do regularly put in extra hours. It's like being a small-medium business or streamer it will pay dividends and then when I'm a bit older I can settle and hopefully be earning loads. I worry about building bad habits that prevent me from checking out when I'm older and higher up the ladder though.
I think the point squeaks was making halfway through the vid was that the difference is Paris Hilton wasn't the one talking s*** to other people, whereas drama talkers today have a double standard. It's like if the paparazzi got mad about them being a famous paparazzi person and now being followed by a bunch of paparazzi, shit is just weird
The Twitch discussion is genuinely so funny. The only reason I don’t use Twitch is because the app and website are just too bloated with random stuff and they all make absolutely zero sense. It was nice to see people relate to that even though they work in the field
I think you're right on the VOD thing. The reason I stream on UA-cam is that it keeps the video of your session up and I stream primarily to archive the games I play rather than money.
Streaming is not hard but it's like anyone who is an entrepreneur or is creating a startup. You can always do more and the success of your company or product is directly tied to you so you can always do more to get better numbers. It's not easy to set the boundaries for yourself and actually most entrepreneur simply don't and just work 24/7, same goes for some streamers like Xqc. I'm a little bit in that phase right with my current job now so somewhat know how it feels but actually enjoy it. I like struggling and grinding up to something otherwise I get bored. There's nothing worse in life then being bored at your job.
my fav two youtubers/streamers are collabing... AGAIN? and planning on doing it again in the future? I couldn't be happier that y'all they get along. Loving the content
On what is "harder", idk. But I do genuinely think streaming would be harder mentally. At least for me, it is not something I would wanna do. The being unable to check out and having your mental state determined by some numbers, sounds insanely stressful. I have uploaded tiktoks or youtube videos before which I worked hard on (delisted now). And even though the ONLY reason I made them was for fun, how they were received really affected me. One time I got a single negative comment and deleted my acct lol. I didn't want it to affect me, I told myself it wasnt important. But it still does. idk, the stress of being a youtuber/streamer just seems too much. Its really not easy to "just switch off" or "just dont care"
i feel like how much a job pays has zero relation to how hard it is. both of those are factors in how good/bad a job is but they’re not corollated to each other.
I mean it depends on what you define as hard . There are some jobs that pay an absurd amount of money for the work that people do . But there is a corelation upto a certain threshold
Streaming isn’t a hard job, but it’s not for everyone. Most of my favorite Internet personalities have jobs and lives outside of the internet, so they can be real. They don’t care about analytics and how many people like them as much. They just do what they want to make, and that passion always comes through.
You're describing self employment. I had a professor who owned, then sold an engineering business he built from the ground up. He said the worst boss he ever had was himself because he could never truly give himself a day off.
On streaming being the hardest job, I think it is probably one of the most mentally taxing jobs. But definitely not the hardest physically or anywhere near close.
4:09 just for context. He said that after talking for 8 hours straight on stream, he feels like his social battery is drained. Which is something most real jobs don’t do, unless you work in the service sector.
haven’t watched yet but I think it’s really tough to strike a balance between creating something meaningful and something that people want to watch. I think Atrioc does a good job with marketing mondays, but there’s a reason reality tv is so popular. For actual creatives (not people trying to milk the algorithm for money), oftentimes, the content they create does not align with the content they wish to create. just my two cents
Of course its down, you open a stream and get a 2 min unskipable ads, then you close it. You cant go back/fowards, even vods are full of ads. Vods should have a way to know what parts are popular and stuff too so ppl can watch it. Its weird.
That process of getting promoted based on the projects you launch regardless of quality (supported by BS metrics) is a problem that is endemic to the entire tech industry.
11:20 I think the main difference I see here is that in the YT and Twitch space, creators are like celebrities in a way to a lot of the viewers, so it's a little weirder having the "celebrities" all publicly making videos covering one another's drama in detail instead of like the press/paparazzi doing it. Y'know? Like the creator becomes both celebrity and journalist in this scenario and that's why it's weirder and "incestuous" lmao like it's the same cycle, but the roles are more consolidated now
I think atrioc is missing that a lot of us do that with our jobs. I just quit my job at a theatre and I would definitely think about how I could improve all evening too Edit: and I was paid way too little
Watching this live is so funny. For context, this was around the end of a Interview Chat about their Jobs segment, and he was about to end stream in 20 minutes and wanted one last interview. Squeex jumps in, and they proceeded to yap for another hour and thirty minutes lmao.

they just need to do it with short clips. if you like the clip, you might check out the livestream. it's how piratesoftware blew up.
i could see it working with popular clips for the day
Almost every single point Squeex talked about pertains directly to Ludwig and I find that hilarious

It seems like Brandon’s been really happy lately, I love to see it
Squeex having the mindset that he has enough viewers and money and at some point growth is meaningless is extremely based.

Amazing vid, such an interesting discussion. Prime content.
I like how the title of the video implies that Squeex is the problem with content creators

Maybe not the paparazzi, but the proper analogue would be tabloids imo, and tabloids got into tons of stuff all the time.
