1Literally, the word ‘peace‘ is derived from the original Latin word ‘pax‘, which means a pact, a control or an agreement to end war or any dispute and conflict between two people, two nations or two antagonistic groups of people.
2Peace is a concept of societal friendship and harmony in the absence of hostility and violence.
3In a social sense, peace is commonly used to mean a lack of conflict (such as war) and freedom from fear of violence between individuals or groups.
4Peace is when people are able to resolve their conflicts without violence and can work together to improve the quality of their lives.
5Peace is not only the absence of conflict, but also requires a positive, dynamic participatory process where dialogue is encouraged and conflicts are solved in a spirit of mutual understanding and cooperation.
