I actually was lucky enough to party with Vixen at Alice Cooperstown. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. They had a concert with Ratt, and Vince Neil. Because of a seating issue that Cooperstown made a mistake on, the production company ended up giving me and about 4 other people VIP passes. The down side was, we were actually sat in this little area of 3 tables, they sectioned off away from where they put Vince Neils guest. We were basically caged off from the rest of the real VIPS. Vixen Played, Then Ratt, then Vince left to go get ready and a couple of women walked up and asked us why we were caged off. It was the guitarist and bassist from Vixen. I told them what happened and they invited us to come hang with them. It was very cool of them.
Morning guys! Mannnnn blast from the past! I was a kid then and adored these ladies and this song! They are so beautiful and so talented! Great choice fellas!!!❤️❤️❤️🤓
The very DEFINITION of rock n roll...badass chix style!!!! Love ❤...try Lita Ford n OZZY/ "Close my eyes 4 ever"..btw only trivia i got was ☆Child. Lol...ty 6 n Smoke. 🤘☘️🇺🇲
Lita Ford was rocking just as hard as the guys (Hair Metal ) bands out there!!!! ❤😊 She was my Hair Metal Queen 🫅 and no one reacts to her except for her and Ozzy or Kiss Me Deadly !!!!! I had 3 albums was totally in love with in the 80s and 90s Album Lita 1988 Stiletto 1990 Dangerous Curves Then I found her other albums Out For Blood 1983 Dancin On The Edge 1984 and I’ve been loving her music ever since!!!!! She came out with “Living Like A Runaway “ in 2012 witch was great!!! So please react to some Lita!!!!! ❤😊
10:47 'In the Still of the Night" by Whitesnake As far as bands, there's Vixen and Doro is fronted by Doro Pesch but also after The Runaways split in the 70s, Lita Ford went solo and really made a name for herself, to the point that she had a duet with Ozzy called "Close My Eyes Forever" Also gotta get to Straight On, Dog and Butterfly, and Little Queen
I saw them live in Toronto in the early 90s and they kicked ass in every way. Ann's vocals live are insanity in the best way possible. Great reaction and Peace out guys ✌️ ☮️
This song is what got me into Rock And Roll...I was 12 (Now 48) when I first heard this back in 1987 on the radio. I lived in a rural area where there wasn't many businesses or places around. I was way up in a friends tree stand, probably about 50ft up, he built with my cassette boombox just sitting and blasting music and this song came on and caught my attention. I started listening to music more and more and got into more late 80s glam bands from MTV and the radio cause of this song. Probably weird for someone to say that about a female leading singer band but before this song, I use to play outside a lot and didn't pay music any attention and if I listened to something, it was country stuff like Alabama from my parents...late 80s was such a great time to be a teenager 😎😎
When I was in high school, one of my ex boyfriends had moved away. He moved back and had dedicated this song to me over the radio saying “Surprises are around every corner!”
Saw Heart live.......only because Thunder were the support band!!!! But if im honest,i was really suprised as to how good they were!!! Even this " poppy" stuff was ok live.!.
I saw these guys live in 2012. They did a scaled down version of this song. Just Ann, Nancy, and the female keyboard player. It was THE highlight of the show for me. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
Soooo 80s... hard to believe I wore my hair exactly like that LOL Magic Man is probably my favorite Heart songs you guys will love it 🌟🖤✌🪄💜 Im sadly under traveled, would love to see Ireland and New Zealand and some Tropical Islands someday!!
*Femme Fatale... you guys have to check out Femme Fatale. Lorraine Lewis will blow you away! "Waiting for the big one" and "Falling in and out of Love" are some great ones to start with. And Lita Ford!! "Kiss me Deadly" by Lita Ford is a good start. She was the 80's rock queen.* 🤘🤘🤘
Cool reaction, guys. This song was originally written & performed by the group I-Ten, in 1983. It went nowhere. In 1985, actor John Stamos & his then girlfriend covered this song. It went nowhere. In 1987, Capital Records presented this song to Heart. Ann Wilson changed the vocal arrangements and Howard Leese changed the guitar arrangements. It became a worldwide hit. According to R.I.A.A. and Billboard, it was & still is the number one world hit for 1987. Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Floor Jansen, Christina Aguilera and Cyndi Lauper have covered this song in the style of Heart. But their versions went nowhere.
Fun Fact: In this song, Heart lead singer Ann Wilson is boiling over with feelings for a guy, and she's finally ready to tell him the news. But sitting alone in her dark room, the thought of it gives her chills. She has to find a way to tell him her secret. "How do I get you alone," she wonders.
There was a couple of all female rock bands. “ The Runaways, Vixen, The Go-Go’s ( if you want a little more poppy) along with The Bangles or a little more nineties The Breeders, The Donnas, Haim , Luscious Jackson, or an O.G. group Babes in Toyland. There’s actually a lot of all female groups not just from the U.S.
Female Metal/ Big Hair/Hard Rock bands- Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Lizzy Hale (from band Hale), Amy Lee from Evanescence, etc. just to name a few Rock Goddesses! 🤘🏽
I agree with Joan Jett and Lizzy Hale as female and metal/hard rock but niether of them have big hair...I remember Joan Jett as having a hair do that was close to the scalp, and Lizzy Hale the same unless she had big hair before I started watching some of her videos. Unfamiliar with Lita Ford so can not comment there.
Gives me the chills every time. Love Smokey’s reaction at 7:50. Looks like the comments have the female hair metal artists covered. I can’t believe I got the KISS trivia question right. 🤘
The whole thing about younger people getting into older music is that they’re trying to make an identity for themselves as a generation and create their own music sound. This is the case with every generation. They go back to what they grew up with and repurpose what is already established music that relates to their own culture. Their usually looking for a lost sound or style that is a solid idea of creative material.
I grew up with them, my mother was a big fan so i became one too ❤ ( i did not have a choice, she played them all day long 😅) I was raised in the 80/90's. Aka the Golden years of Music.
Heart was considered a hair band for about a minute when they released their 1985 album, which was basically a comeback album after Heart had been floundering. "If Looks Could Kill", "The Wolf", and "Shell Shock" are all very hair metal sounding. The video for "What About Love" would qualify as well, it was a power ballad like "Home Sweet Home". The other videos from that album were more pop rock, but the sound of that album and their look at the time got them thrown into the hair band label until probably 1990. Their 1990 album sounded more like classic rock than hair metal.
Vixen is hair metal.....had a couple of good songs. Ann and Nancy could both play piano, not sure who played it in this song in studio. Nancy was playing it in the video.
L7 was not hair metal. More Riot Grrrl. The anti-hair metal. Cycle Sluts, well, hard to describe, lol They did play/lampoon some true hair metal touchstones. Their main hit was 'I Wish you Were a Beer'.
To your question about if Heart made Home Sweet Home, would it be hairmetal? The answer is yes. Hair Metal is a newer term for Glam Rock, which included male and female bands. Vixen is Hair metal, as Phantom Blue, among others.
It was great performance of stairway to heaven moved Robert plant he previously refer stairway to heaven as the wedding song as he hated that song before that performance.
I did like to travel. Can't afford it anymore. Farthest I've been is Amsterdam, Netherlands. I went in 1997 to be a judge in the Cannabis Cup, which that year was the 10th one...as far as states, been up and down the east coast, from New York to Florida. Visited Georgia several times, specifically Conyers. My ex's mom and aunt live there and we went there for Christmas at least 6 or 7 times. Also I've been to Las Vegas once. A high school friend moved there in 1995. Been to San Francisco twice. Other than that, I have visited other northeast states like Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, ect. Been to Canada a couple times too...
A few yrs baco not long sgo I remember they used the chorus if this song briefly in a Coca Cola commercial where the ice in a glass looked sad about the Coke❕❗
Love this song! Did you guys go through the music I have on my phone? 😆 I guess you could consider Vixen ‘hair metal’ but… idk how ‘metal’ they could be when Richard Marx was writing their songs. Idk if he wrote all of them but he did write their biggest hit. Aside from that, the only other metal chicks I can think of from that time are Lita Ford and Doro… but they tended to have dudes in their bands and weren’t exactly ‘hair metal’. There are probably more that I can’t think of right now.
I've not seen Girlschool in the comments. 'Please don't touch' with Motorhead got on to Top of the Pops and 'Race with the devil' got a fair bit of radio play at the time.

I despise the term "hair metal" when referring to rock/metal from that era. Hi guys, Vixen is a female hair metal band. A song to start from them is "Edge of a broken heart"
I'd forgotten about vixen! Great idea!!
Doro and Lita Ford are two other ladies that I would consider more hair metal also.

As far as bands, there's Vixen and Doro is fronted by Doro Pesch but also after The Runaways split in the 70s, Lita Ford went solo and really made a name for herself, to the point that she had a duet with Ozzy called "Close My Eyes Forever"
Also gotta get to Straight On, Dog and Butterfly, and Little Queen
Vixen, Lita Ford, Saraya, Precious Metal are 4 hair metals bands with either female lead singers or all female bands.
I saw them live in Toronto in the early 90s and they kicked ass in every way. Ann's vocals live are insanity in the best way possible. Great reaction and Peace out guys ✌️ ☮️

The lender Satsuma used this song in their advertising with a satsuma singing "How do I get you a loan?". Genius!
Vixen, Femme Fatale, Saraya, Lita Ford all did what could be considered hair metal
When I was in high school, one of my ex boyfriends had moved away. He moved back and had dedicated this song to me over the radio saying “Surprises are around every corner!”
this song is phenomenal, so glad you listened to it - and absolutely metal as fk

The original version of Alone is on the album "Taking a Cold Look" by i-Ten from 1983. Written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly.
THANK YOU! So few people seem to be aware of this 🙂
@@erikthompson619. I bought the vinyl record back in the day 😀👌
