- With the steering wheel finish it is now time to rebuild and install the rest of the steering into Sam, we check and test all the electrical wires and switches for the blinkers.

A lot of times you’ll find shims on the shaft and removing them will tighten up your steering. Mine also had a gasket on the larger cover and a metal shim on the smaller one. I had to remove all my shims to tighten up my steering and I still have about 3-4 inches of play in my steering wheel. Also, I had grease in mine, but filled it with 90w oil when rebuilding.
Great feed back, no shims on mine.
I had thought about using oil after sealing, but after seeing how well the grease had protected and held up, I went but to grease.
