He's not entirely in control of the entire CFD. There's Gary Cole's character Fire Commissioner Grissom. We have not seen him since Season 7 ish, but the character has not been written out, so he's the King/President of the CFD, Boden is the Queen/VP. Also, Boden is 1st Deputy Fire Commissioner, not Deputy Fire Commissioner. Deputy Fire Commissioners command a Bureau in the CD (e.g., Bureau of Operations, Bureau of Fire Prevention, etc.) The 1st Deputy Fire Commissioner makes sure the Deputy Fire Commissioners, who command the CFD Bureaus, don't do anything stupid or dumb.
I still can't believe another crucial character is flying away from the 51 nests, especially the best father figure we always wanted! Thanks for everything Chief, and we'll see you out there, and Herrmann, you better get ready to step into the big shoes you've been tasked to fill.
I was in utter shock when I read that be was leaving. Seemed like it came out of left field, unless I missed something. He will truly be missed. I don't know, but I felt like his send off could've been so much more, for someone who has been there from the very beginning. All the same, I truly enjoyed watching him. Such a stand up character. There'll never be anyone like him!
As much as I hate to see him leave there’s by far absolutely no one more deserving for this promotion than Chief Boden ever since this show first aired he’s led every man that’s come to 51 with a firm but fair attitude and pushed them to be better as firefighters and as people he is the true definition of a leader and you couldn’t have asked for a better person to lead them
Thank you Chief Boden (Mr. Walker) for your service. You were the consummate leader and father figure for Firehouse 51. You truly cared about your crew and the surrounding community. You inspired young children to want to become fireman. It is rumored that we will see you, Mr. Walker, again and in the future, as you will be making appearances from time to time. If that is the case, I won't say Goodbye -- but Godspeed. Peace and blessings for your future endeavors. You will be missed. 🔥👩🚒💛❤️💋💯
He is not gone, he will still be on the show just not every episode. We will definitely see him, he just will not be part of the regular cast. Sort of like Casey coming and going. So he still will be part of the OG’s
We will hardly ever see him and he did leave the show, just like Casey left the whole show over Three years ago. But they kept begging Casey to come back for Brett which was wrong because they were letting the main cast be off they said budget cuts, but they kept on bringing Casey back and he is not even on Chicago fire anymore, only a guest, and they had to pay him.
@@carolynelston5936 yes but I’m sure they paid Jesse Spencer significantly less than they would pay him if he were a contracted cast member. Plus they were saving money because Taylor Kinney missed 8 episodes in season 11. The said that Eamonn Walker will be on occasionally when the story warrants it and he is available. While we won’t be seeing him in every episode, we will be seeing him. Shows have to change even when we don’t like it. At least I haven’t heard that this upcoming season has any restrictions like last season when they were told to cut the budget first renewal. All the actors that have been hired are still listed as guest stars so their pay for what I understand is significantly less than when they permanently join the cast. Casey and Brett are now gone and I would be surprised to see them return, since the comment Severide made in that episode that said “somehow this seems permanent this time”. We will see but if you can see they are gearing up the show to appeal to 18-49 viewer with a much younger cast and elevating Mouch and Hermann into leadership rolls I believe. Mouch will take over engine when Hermann becomes Chief freeing up another spot on truck for another young person. I’m curious to see if I’m right and this happens next season.
Thank you Boden, and Eamonn Walker for being the inspirational chief you were on the show. I will miss you. You are still my favorite character on the show!
Good luck & God bless gonna miss you Chief Boden.so glad that there's reruns of Chicago Fire & PD on syndication TV. Loving the past shows. Now not so much especially when everyone is leaving.
Your sure going to be missed we pray we still get to see you. We can't wait until you all come back on tv we love all of you ❤️ plus Chicago pd is the best Hank has to stay he holds the team together blessings to you all ❤
An incredible send off for Commissioner Boden awesome that he got the position Thank you Chief Wallace Boden Excellent to see Damon open up to Severride at the end curious to see how that goes
"I believe that, when we leave a place, part of it goes with us, and part of us remains." - Ambassador G'Kar. Its a different universe.. but it fits...
Wallace Boden you made the 51 a family now you can do the same for all CFD and im sure that if Casey Brett Gallo and so many other members could be here they'll thank you like we all the fans do thank you Chief Boden for everything
This was a bittersweet moment. Chief Boden truly made 51 feel like a home for all of them. And like I've said in the past, I'm glad we didn't have a repeat of what happened with Jimmy Borelli when Violet was going through the grief of losing Chief Hawkins.
Chef Boden, sie waren ein toller Boss.Hoffen ihr Nachfolger malcht seine Aufgabe so gut wie sie.Wuensche ihnen alles gute und Gesundheit fuer sie und Familie. Bay bay ❤❤🎉😢
Just rewatching the series And only just realized that boden actually skipped two ranks. He went from deputy district chief to deputy commissioner. He skipped district chief and assistant deputy commissioner.
The Father, The Teacher, The Friend, The Leader, The Boss. Wallace Boden lead Firehouse 51 with love, integrity, honest, had the respect of everyone their. He cared and fought for 51 and it's crew. That raspy voice and stern look I like calling him Pappa Bear his authority was felt but was a giant bear. I will miss him at 51someone has big shoes to fill. Please do 51 right. Blessings Chicago Fire Wallace Boden🥂🥂🥂👑
Yeah I get this feeling, right now there’s a lot going on in my town for the volunteer departments, soon we are all consolidating into one organization! My town also has a paid fire department in service during the day with career staff and they’re normally in service from 7am-5pm Monday-Friday, And pretty recently as of 7/1/2024 any firefighter who was employed by my towns paid fire department recently had to clear house from their volunteer companies sadly, they can no longer be part of a volunteer company now in my town but they’re always welcome to come around and visit, 4 guys who have been with my volunteer company for a long time had to clear out, got to know them pretty well over the past few years since I joined and now it really sucks, but they’re always welcome to come around and visit but they can no longer be members:(
Thanks Emmon Walker for showing us viewers what it's like to make firehouse 51 a home and the firefighters a family. Like Chief Boden says, we'll all be seeing eachother soon, let's not make this a big goodbye! Thank you Chief Wallace Boden for 12 great years. See you soon on future episodes of Chicago Fire. Deputy Commissioner Wallace Boden.
It's emotional seeing boden go after 12 seasons he was one of the best chiefs this firehouse had it's not gonna feel the same going forward but as they say when one door closes another one opens
I loved this episode. Boden getting top dog 🐕 spot!!! What would be even more perfect??? Matt taking the spot Boden vacated and then Brett becoming paramedic chief after Boden cans that witch 🧹 Robinson!!?? They've done laps time between seasons before. Matt's boys could be in college by next season????
Wallace Boden. The chief. Finally he gets his respect and acknowledge from the people hire up. 51 will always be his family. No doubt. Massive heart ❤️
With Boden apparently appointing Herman as the new firehouse chief, I'm hoping that Kelly will change his mind about becoming a captain and Joe will move up to lieutenant.
Thank you for being with us for 12 seasons, Wallace Boden! Firehouse 51 will never be the same without you.
Chief Boden is the best
I don't know the purpose of this scene!
Thank You Chief Boden
Thank You Eamonn Walker.🚒🚒🚒
Going to miss you chief
51 will always be your home
thankyou Wallace Boden for everything you gave us for 12 seasons and making firehouse 51 a home for so many of us viewers, you will truly be missed
"You made 51 a family Chief, and this Firehouse a home"
that line will always make me tear up love you chief you have been and always will be 51
We’re still gonna see him in some episodes right now he’s in control of the entire CFD? He’s always a part of Chicago.

From what I read, he left the show, so I don't think we will see him again
@chrisreddy8958 No, he's not. He's stepping back to a recurring role. Whoever wrote that report is lying.
He’s not in season 13 but he’ll be back in the other seasons to come
@@JOEHENDRY4334He will be in season 13 periodically
Boden ABSOLUTELY deserved that promotion!!!
I couldn't take it. Call me weird, but no position or amount of money would take me away from what I helped build in the station.
@darrenheadrick3669 yes, but what he did for 51 then, he would do for the entire department now.
Round of applause to Eamonn on his 12 years leading this show 👏 We hope to see him return very soon
Thank You Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) and farewell. Goodluck on your next chapter.
We going to miss you Boden
Me too
Same here great actor and person
I still can't believe another crucial character is flying away from the 51 nests, especially the best father figure we always wanted! Thanks for everything Chief, and we'll see you out there, and Herrmann, you better get ready to step into the big shoes you've been tasked to fill.
Kind of like when Upton left intelligence and Chicago for the FBI.
A wonderful actor. You can just tell that he is a wonderful person in life as well

The ending wow just hope we don’t need to wait till spring again
Boden is and will always be 51.
FACTS
Fantastic actor deserves an Emmy.
Sure am gonna miss him. With Boden gone we’re down to just 4 from the original season 1 main cast ( severide, Cruz, mouch, and Herman).
He is not gone, he will still be on the show just not every episode. We will definitely see him, he just will not be part of the regular cast. Sort of like Casey coming and going. So he still will be part of the OG’s
