Lol so nice of you covering for Doc Silver! Glad ya'll both enjoyed it as much as I did! Certaintly were some funny moments for me. I loved how Twilight was trying to prepare for everything. Much like I do when I try to get ready for a trip, or holidays, vacation etc. I always have a plan in mind on how I want things to go. Course they never do no matter how hard I plan lol!

I don't think Twilight would actually destroy a book. One of her greatest talents is teleportation and from what I understand about MLP that is a very advanced technique. I would assume, from my other fictional works, that she just blipped those pages and book to a negative zone or something where she can retrieve for later when she finds the time. The book she had was full of very appropriate helps with friendship, although this particular instant wasn't relevant to any of them. (Shrug)
Or maybe we're just taking MLP too seriously. ;-) Sorry Josh. That saying just fits too well when pertaining to us Bronies.
While this episode was fun, I could tell that the big cake was going to be a Trojan hor...wait a minute.

Okay one, this short review was a 10/10 (but I can't wait for the actual around 15 to 20 minute review from silver) and for me, I LOVED this episode. I thought it was funny even though the story trope was over played, but just because something is a cliche it doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable.
Actually when I watched this episode, my father was watching it with me and surprisingly enjoyed it. Then again, our family on his side descends from the McCoys (as a distant cousin). His favorite quote was a dialogue exchange between Twilight and Pa McColt, going:
Twilight: So When you're not fighting with the Hoofields, what do you do in your spare time?"
Pa: Preparing TO fight.
Yes, I come from a hillbilly family, but none the less I wasn't offended, if anything I was just sitting there enjoying the episode despite all of the "analysis" going on in the fandom. I had FUN watching this. That's really all that matters. The episode was just... FUN. It wasn't the best episode, but considering my historical blood background, combined with the impossibility of my father who rolls his eyes when I watch the show, ENJOYING the same episode, and the fact that the episode was fun overall, I'll give it a 7.5/10.

I liked this episode. Not too bad and I like the balance they had with both Fluttershy and Twilight. It didn't feel like they were favoring one over the other, at least not as much as in the other two episodes where Pinkie and Applejack had more of the focus. Also did anyone else get a Monty Python and the Holy Grail vibe with Fluttershy and Twilight standing under the McColts castle door?

This episode is a very strong case for the idea that predictable does not always equate to bad. I mean, if you didn't know where this episode was going, you really need to get out more. (Or perhaps get out less? I don't know.) And yet the episode still managed to be good. Not amazing, but I certainly enjoyed it. The scene where Big Daddy McColt destroys the Hooffields' barn with just his voice had me laughing the hardest I've laughed at this show since Equestria Games.
That's a rather interesting turn around! I do hope the Doc feels better soon, though it was nice to see Silver Quill's thoughts so early.
My only disagreement with the analysis is that Twilight wasn't banking so much on book smarts (they were here OWN strategies and the like that SHE put together) or on her reputation as a Princess, as much as she was relying on reason and rationality in order to solve an emotionally-driven conflict by ponies who didn't care about reason.
Twilight is a logical, thoughtful pony and so I think has a hard time dealing with ponies who aren't. Recall her complaint in Over A Barrel? "Why won't anypony be rational or reasonable?" Sad to say, that's very true to life as often one or both sides will disregard facts, rational thinking and even simple REALITY if it doesn't support their side.
But this was a fun episode, a nice character dynamic we really haven't explored before and had a lot of fun designs. Ma Hooffield's semi-colonial look was my favorite. All in all, a good episode.
This episode was good for me, apart from the story being predictable with the resolution of the animals and the pacing was dragging on at times. Loved the interactions with Twilight and Fluttershy and the families themselves, the comedy was great and the morals of Twilight learning that not all problems can be solved from straight out of a book, she and Fluttershy needed each other with their own talents to solve problems and the families learning that friendship is more important than a silly argument, I give it 8/10 ^^
+Rosie Sievers (rigifan32) Personally I would put it lower because this cringe comedy took me deep too forget it was cringe and Twilight's use of books for the problem got old after the first joke of it
+D HAROLD Yeah, not to mention I thought the story was boring (which is odd considering I'm not only a big history buff, but I also find the story between the Hatfields and the McCoys rather interesting itself) with the jokes honestly feeling rather predictable to me (such as the reveal of Big Daddy McCoy and the Trojan Horse cake deal). To me, I think this is either the second-worst or third-worst episode of the season, with only Princess Spike and *maybe* the Brotherhooves Social being worst.
Crazy Luigi But at least there are still people claiming those episodes are good. Princess Spike is more of the world attacking Spike and Brotherhooves Social is like eating a durian, it's really hard and puts people off but there is sweetness in the end/fruit.
D HAROLD And that right there can perfectly explain why I find those to be worst episodes here (or at least, absolutely Princess Spike was).
I actually have the exact opposite opinion as you almost. Despite some of the comedy being good and the lesson also being good, my problem lies with the Hoofields and the McColts themselves. They're exaggerated, cartoony stereotypes of possibly the only thing people know of West Virginia for (the Hatfield-McCoy feud), not to mention got rid of possibly the most interesting part about the story of the Hatfield-McCoy feud and that would be the romance between one member of the Hatfield's and one member of the McCoy's.
...Though, honestly, I kinda don't wanna see that given how badly stereotyped these characters are.

Silver Quill as great as always and it's very nice of you to help the poor Doctor out! Though I must say, When I watched the episode my self, I found myself doing your "Continuity" thing at Twilights' freeze spell. XD I've been doing it a lot actually.
I hope we get more map quests in the future with different pairings of the Mane 6 that we don't see that often.

Graeme Pischke Yeah, outside of "Bats!" we haven't really seen much of that pairing. TwiDash was really rare for a while, but since Season 4 it's become a lot more common. FlutterPie is also a pairing that needs some exploring, even if it just gave Andrea an excuse to do a lot of talking to herself.
i think I'll save that recommended fan fic on the shawdoowblots in friendship games for next week... O.O

Sorry couldn't resist. lol Anyway about the actual episode, I really liked this one since even though this was kind of a serious subject it was very fun and yet was able to deliver it's message very well. It's basically commenting on how pointless and stupid most feuds are. I'm glad this one ended better than the real feud...
On a personal note I got to unleash my "inner Royal Guard" and scream things like "Get Down!" lol Which was a lot of fun for me.

One thing I've noticed about the Friendship map episodes is how they've broadened the scope of friendship to a community. The map quests were never about two ponies not getting along, but always about bigger groups - families, neighborhoods, and even whole towns.
As for the episode itself, most of such stories revolve around a Romeo and Juliet-style conflict, with the two lovers being caught in the crossfire. I am in part relieved, in part astonished they didn't go with that low-hanging fruit.
Aww. I hope Dr Wolf gets well, he's so adorable :3 on the bright side we got to see silver quill in between the huge hiatus's between each episode

The conflict was a little predictable, but once the animals came into play, I wasn't expecting the episode to end like this. And I'm glad that the Hooffields and the McColts didn't fully make up at first; it was refreshing to see them fall into a slight relapse and to be reminded again by the animals that they needed to stop.
I didn't like how Twilight treated Fluttershy at the beginning or end, though. It's bad enough that Spike goes through all this...
EDIT: And I just now realized something. They got the reference to "Castle Mania" wrong. Twilight didn't freeze six ponies; she froze only four: Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash. She didn't freeze herself, and Pinkie Pie wasn't with them at the time.
Rest up Doc, you deserve it. Everyone needs a week off every now and then.

Oh my goodness... This was hilarious!!! It was like seeing Doctor Wolf, and Silver Quill switching roles with Silver being the level headed reviewer, and Doctor Wolf bringing the comic relief, yet neither sacrificed the character traits that make us love them. Well, to be fair we haven't ever seen a wacky Doctor Wolf, and technically we still haven't "seen" it, but it was fun to hear the Doctor all delusional. I am looking forward to getting to this chapter in my fic far, far down the road. And I also look forward to seeing both the next works of these talented entertainers. KEEP GOING STRONG!!!!!!!

I think because both Twilight and Fluttershy actually worked together to solve the problem with their combined talents which was wonderful and sweet to see ^^
That one point actually makes this one stand out-more then the others and they both had a role to play ^^
Some other of the friendship missions where a bit one sided or one contributed more then the other.. in this case they both did it together and it was even ^^
That's what I will take away the most from this episode was the balance between the two characters and the fact that they solved it together ^^

I honestly need to give some props to this episode. It may be a scenario that many of us have seen a lot. But, not only was it a fun interpretation of such a conflict, but it also did two great things that I love a lot from this episode in particular.
1) Twilight and Fluttershy as a team. And, I don't just mean that they were super adorable working off of each other. Which, they so totally were. But, I also mean that from both a personal and objective perspective. In terms of continuity, we all know that Twilight Sparkle is a rather neurotic protagonist that means well, but tends to become quite preoccupied with herself and her own principles. She may be extremely smart; very powerful; fights for good and friendship; and always tries to come up with solutions to problems. But, as a lot of people point out, she comes off as empathetically and ethically oblivious a lot of the time. Missing or misunderstanding when others are having issues, or even treating big issues as simple fixes with the right book or spell. She also overthinks things that most of the other ponies wouldn't. This makes her socially awkward, and sometimes even dangerous/self-destructive if not kept in check. She doesn't mean to be that way. It's just how she is.
While Fluttershy is the pony who can't stop caring about others' issues, and is always thinking about how others feel and their state of being. Extremely kind; has great hidden strength; very considerate; and never tries to cause problems for others. Of course, these qualities tend to also backfire on her. She can be too nice and be pushed around. She has significant social anxiety issues that cause her to be very shy; to bottle up her emotions because she doesn't want others to worry or hurt others, only to lash out or break down; to be overwhelmed by her fears; to be very sensitive; and to think too much about what others will think of her. This also makes her socially awkward, and sometimes even dangerous/self-destructive if not kept in check, as well.
Despite Twilight not really seeing the proper way to fix the problem, she was getting more of a perspective on the situation for Fluttershy by trying to confront the problem head on. Not really being intimidated by the conflict and constantly trying to wrap her head around it. In the end, helping both of them narrow it down to the only solution left. Something that Fluttershy would definitely struggle with on her own. While Fluttershy was constantly caring about the ones being effected by the conflict right under Twilight's nose. Really seeing the damage and true tragedy of the situation. Something that Twilight was quite blind of, for the most part.
They both cover each other's flaws, but also both have issues with social interaction, as well. Neither of them could figure out how to convince the two families to stop. Fluttershy had a hard time providing any input. And, was too concerned with giving immediate attention to the animals. Twilight had a hard time really understanding the two families, making some bad decisions that only made things worse. However, when they both worked together, they found the solution. Twilight using her power and authoritative action. And, Fluttershy really learning and conveying how badly the conflict effected the two families' surroundings. I tend to personally identify with Twilight Sparkle a lot. But, I also have qualities from Fluttershy as well. A lot of the time, I can be very considerate and kind, but also shy with social anxieties. I can also be quite analytical and obsessive to the point of looking knowledgeable, but also self-centered, neurotic, and oblivious to issues. I don't have the good people skills either. Outside from with my close friends, anyway. But, when the good qualities work together, big things can happen. Maybe, I can try to own up to that someday. This episode really made these characters quite inspiring to me.
2)The episode really showed the true and more relatable interpretation of what really happens when senseless conflicts go too far, and what really matters when they do. While I was watching the episode, I'm not gonna lie, I assumed that the solution to the conflict was going to be to show the two families that they can share their expertise with one another to improve their quality of life. The big detail that I was caught up with was that one family was great at buildings, while the other was great with crops. And, the one that excelled at one talent was bad at what the other was good at. I assumed that they could bond and live better lives by combining their talents, which was true in the end. And, was a reasonable solution. However, the Hoofields didn't really care that they had crappy shelters. And, the McColts didn't really care that they couldn't get good food. Whether they were to live impractically or practically, all they cared about was fighting for supremacy over the other. And, what really ended up mattering was that their fighting wasn't just between them. Their fighting ruined the environment and animals around them. It really wasn't until the last few minutes of the episode that I realized that showing the families that there was a third party being negatively effected by their fighting was the true solution. They didn't really want to hurt anypony else but each other. But, they ended up doing it anyway. And, that is really true to life. We tend to forget that fights can quickly become wars. And, wars tend to get much more of our surroundings involved. The environment, innocent people, animals, etc. can get caught in the crossfire and create bigger problems for more individuals. I didn't think too much of what the valley used to be, and of Fluttershy concerning over the animals. I thought it was just a cute gag. Turned out that they were very important details that the rest of the episode tried the distract the viewer from.
This is a great episode. Despite the idea being a big cliche.
So, new to the channel, but I have seen you guys do colabs on other channels like ToonKriticY2K and FieryJoker, and I gotta say, I liked this review, it didn't drag itself any longer than it had to be, and I *LOVED* that ending bit, I needed that laughter today, so thanks, and I look forward to seeing more content on both of your channels.

I love when these two collab. Silver's craziness mixed with the doc's calm is so entertaining. Having the doc saying silly things in the background was hilarious, plus visioning Silver trying to take care of a sick Doc is pretty funny, and concerning. :D

i liked this episode. i didn't think it was the BEST episode, but i liked it. the thing that kept me from completely liking it was how twilight talked. i'm not sure but for some reason more often than not she seems to not use contractions as much as she does in many other episodes leaving with awkward "i am nots" instead of "i'm nots" for example. and it happens a LOT, to the point where i found it kind of annoying.
I loved this episode. It's become one of my favourites from the season.

As for the episode, I really liked this one. This is the closest My Little Pony can come to "War is Hell," and it pulled it off quite well, showcasing how conflicts degenerate into self-perpetuating senselessness.
Plus, it's very interesting to see the map's logic at work. It sent Fluttershy to get the real story. It sent Twilight because she was the only force in Equestria that could get the two families to actually listen. The Mane Six form a sort of Toolbox of Harmony, and Twilight is the hammer. That's why she wasn't sent to Griffonstone or Manehattan; teleporting to the Idol of Boreas or fixing up the park with a single spell wouldn't have solved the actual problem. But here? Here there were two clans' worth of nails.
2:42-2:50 made me fall off my bed, crying with laughter.

I can only assume that the writer will find ways of making more combinations of the mane six to go out on missions. Maybe Rainbow Dash will get paired up with Rarity for instance or maybe we'll end up getting 3 going on the same mission. Really with 6 of them and the fact they could go 2 or 3 without feeling too cramped with the number of them, the possibilities are numerous.
I think a saw a carrot or something go into one of the ponies' asses during the fight.
So does this mean Doctor Wolf is off to sacrifice himself to save the Krogan people under the notion that he's sick?

I did so enjoy all the literary and historical references in this episode! From Emily Brontë's (Broncö's?) _Wuthering __-Heights-__ Hoofs_ through the Hatfield and McCoy feud, with a slight detour to the _Illiad!_
_"Sing, O goddess, the anger of Achilles son of Peleus, that brought countless ills upon the Achaeans."_ ... but I digress.
Good humor, interesting new locations, amusing ponies, a veggie war ... and watching Twilight trying to untangle the _gourdian knot_ that was the origin of the feud was all quite amusing. Good moral at the end -- overall a solidly enjoyable episode for me. I'm looking forward to where the writers will take us from here.

This episode teached me that warfare is a waste of time if you dont bother exterminating your enemies or crippling them permanently so they dont retaliate back. You silly ponies, you still have much to learn.
*sigh* really wish I'd gotten the permissions needed to do that story about Dr. Wolf getting the flu now....oh well.
